I used to really like this anime in my younger self years but now that I've grown up, I realised how much of a jerk Irie was. Even when they ended up together, I feel really sorry for Kotoko being disrespected and looked down by Irie.

Not to mention, Kotoko was being gaslighted in this scene. And when Kotoko already had enough and decided it was best to stop, Irie just had to use Kotoko's feelings again to overturn the situation. Irie was cunning and manipulative - disgusting.

He actually like her in this scene, but I guess he was a really arrogant person to admit he became more mature and adul as the anime develops

I hate how as a teen I thought this was the epitome of romantic...jeeez. I used to be obsessed with this anime but holy moly did it not age well. At least I can see that I matured haha

This classic romantic anime scene warming my cold love life

Irie is still a man who in his puberty to adults, so naturally he feel something with Kotoko in his house. With her cutest and her kindness, Kotoko have some many charms. Irie still find something in his life and Kotoko make him have a passion for his life ❤️

This is my favorite animé since elementary school and now I'm college. It could be the perfect animé if kotoko wasn't that in love with irie but well, I love how they showed their love story up until their marriage

If Kotoko wasn’t a total simp, and irie wasn’t a total jerk (or at least had some more redeeming quality’s) this anime would be a 10/10 for me (it’s a 8/10)

@@chickennoodlesoup2569 maybe the manga is gonna make it a 9/10 since Irie is quite kinder there. He even defended her and got annoyed at women approaching him while insulting Kotoko. He also wanted to meet Kotokos maternal side of the family (which was quite awkward since Kotoko and her father were trying to avoid that)

EW. how could she ever marry a guy who humiliated her like this and made her laughingstock in front of everyone... she has zero pride or dignity...

@sun cream of course Irie was not a bad guy he was nearly perfect, smart, athletic nearly a robot and kotoko was the only one who made him feel humane and vulnerable I believe he tried to fight it but his love and the man that he was being with her won over his fears! I love this love story!

@sun cream its a way of talking nobody is perfect but you have to understand it from his perspective where he exels in everything and she came to disturb that balance. Because he said it himself in the anime that he can do 95%of things but that 5%that he can't do... Kotoko does it with perfection. He said it when he was a doctor and kotoko a nurse and when kotoko persuaded non-chan to have a surgery. Meaning he knows that he is above average but the only things he cant do kotoko can and that's one of the reasons why he loves her.

Even when I was 13, something bothered me, and I was in my "worst than watpad phase"...Don t watch this anime, it is a lost of time on so many levels. And even if you are in that type of horrible romance you will never be satisfied with this. The rest of the story is frustrating and horrifying. This scene describe the relationship, when she want to think about herself, he is doing something to get back his fangirl. SPOILER Even when she is pregnant, married to him; it is the same thing and their child is a fangirl of the father and don t like the mother. You will never be satisfied even if you like cliche romance.

The kiss is a huge dirtbag move but which ultimately backfires on Irie.

Because of these clips, I found myself rewatching the anime >.< This is still such a classic. Thanks!

Playful Kiss was adapted from the manga Itazura na Kiss and this is the anime version…..there are also Taiwanese, Japanese and Thai drama and a bunch of movie versions of the story.
