I was 19 years old when this happened and I was picked to be on this jury. It was horrible and I will never forget the pictures they showed us . It was the first time I was on jury duty. And we gave him the death penalty and he was executed. He was a horrible person .

Susan Sarandon said in her Oscar acceptance speech; "Let's find a more humane way to punish criminals.". The killer's execution was a lot more humane than what he did to his innocent victims. That movie did glorify the killer. They lost sight of the victims.

My late father felt the same way about the movie Bonnie and Clyde. Hollywood glamorized them and made their deaths out to be tragic. My father called them vicious, rabid dogs that deserved to be put down and not made out to be victims. He never cared for Warren Beatty nor Faye Dunaway after that, either. Lamont, you are the best. That's so true what you wrote here. The 1967 movie, Bonnie & Clyde, depicted these criminals as just more or less ordinary folks, who didn't really mean any harm, but just needed some excitement in their life. In reality, they were vicious cold blooded killers. They were very dangerous. Clyde used a sawed off Browning Automatic Rifle, which he was proficient in using, and had a knack for escaping the police. They definitely needed to be put down. I don't blame the law enforcement authorities back then for killing them the way they did.

Thank you, Lamont, for bringing balance to a horrific story that was distorted by way of film. Thank you for introducing us to the victims, for reminding us of their souls and light and that they walked this earth, as real as ourselves; the tortured and murdered and those who somehow survived. I cannot imagine the trauma, immediate and/or long-lasting. I cannot imagine the healing process for those who survived, in any capacity. I do remember the film. I do remember understanding that an attempt was being made to humanize the killer(s) with minimal attention to the victims. Looking back, such a subtle manipulation, an attempt to shift my focus away from the victims.... who today, I finally have a glimpse of, thanks to your work and passion. The film was centered around the evolving relationship between Sr Prejean and Willie, the death penalty, etc. But choices were made. How sad that a choice was not made to spend a bit extra on a film that would bring in millions, to produce even a few more minutes of airtime, to balance the scales...to remember and humanize the victims. They were not mere visual objects of crime....they were subject to it. After the film, I knew so much about Willie....and so little of them. I remember it felt off. I remember knowing they mattered. But, I hadn't been introduced to them so that I could mourn their losses in the highest vibration possible, as a feeling and sympathetic human being. Thank you for doing that today. God bless, do stay safe out there.

I agree with you wholeheartedly Lamont people like that don't need to be glorified they should make it a rule and that they never make a movie about a real life murder that bad you want to make a movie fine but you don't have to make it on somebody that has been murdered or raped that's just glorifying them and they don't need it they need to be burning in below I totally agree and I wouldn't mind seeing you have a dog peeing on its grave you take care and God bless

My Mother in law at the time had a belief that if in your dying breath you confess all your sins you'd be forgiven. My argument, due to this story not the movie but actual story was your payment would be eye for a eye. She disagreed. Too each their own.

@@andreamarin4296 I appreciate this discussion and the viewpoints. As someone who has had their life touched by a violent criminal, it is interesting to see how others think of the results of major, life changing crimes. The trauma that major crimes cause in a person's life is a true upheaval and the person is left to pick up the pieces of their life.

I've never seen that movie and I won't either. Lamont, thank you for thinking of the innocent victims. This reminds me of an accident many years ago. A man that I worked with lost his youngest son in a car accident, his wife was driving and they were hidden from view by a van, another car hit them, the son was ejected through the windshield and decapitated. Of course, we were all sad about the Dad and Mom, but I was wondering about the woman that hit them, she was in her mid 50s and nobody was concerned.
