Since you're in the Midwest, I'd love for you to feature my cousin Vanessa Cook's story. She was a probation officer, and she was kidnapped, gang r**ed, tortured and held captive for days before being shot in the head and left in a field in Gary, Indiana. She was 25 years old. The killers were 16, 17, and 19 yrs old. They got ridiculously short sentences. But when the eldest was released ... he does it again to a 15 yr old girl! Vanessa was just recently recognized as the 1st Black woman who died in the line of duty in Indiana and had a building named on her honor in Gary in February of this year. This case brings chills all over my body. I remember it well because I was 19 and visiting my family in Cleveland when it happened. Rest well, sweet girl! You are remembered by so many people than you could ever begin to imagine now...💔💔💔 (EDIT: The dedication was on February 28th, 2022. I originally said January, but I was mistaken and corrected it. I appreciate all the condolences as well. I was exactly 9 months old to the day when this happened, and I'm now 42. I grew up "in the shadows of Vanessa" as the kids in my generation of the family say. It scared our parents so much to let us out of their sight. This was before being a helicopter parent was even a thing. But because she was kidnapped in her neighborhood just going to the store after work, and we still lived in the area, it was hard for them to allow us to just be kids. We're so close in my generation because our cousins were almost the only friends we were allowed to have. But as an adult I appreciate it because we're all still very tapped into one another's lives and still have close bonds. We're just happy that after 41 years, the state finally recognized that her death was because of her position working for them and she's finally gotten her flowers. I just wish her mom had lived to see it. She passed on January 20th, Vanessa's bday, this year. R.I.H. to my grandfather's twin, my great-aunt and Van's mom Edna Robinson Cook and her father my great-uncle Frank. W. Cook).

I'm also from a south suburb of Dayton like Erica we'll never forget her she'll always be one of our Angel's.. There's a possibility they wouldn't call 911 if they hit her with the van because they were driving high on drugs and possibly drinking too fear of arrest.. Maybe they had drug paraphernalia and alcohol in the van .. Yes, most people if they're sober call 911 if tgey hit someone especially a child, Some high or drunk people might risk punishment and still call get the stuff out of the vehicle first maybe.. That's why Beth the Attorney's testimony is so important in this case.. She knows whether they hit Erica with their van and nothing else happened to her or the 2 men ABDUCTED HER, raped, murdered, and disposed of Erica's body probably her in a dumpster... 😭😭😭💔 That Attorney is a Mother I can't believe she won't tell what she knows..

Beth Lewis is a Mother before she's an Attorney (or her children should be #1 Priority) she should know what agony Misty Baker has gone through all of these years.. Jan Frank's is deceased she isn't betraying her Client by repeating to Cold Case Detective's everything Jan Frank's told her..Come on you know that, and this little innocent girl deserves a proper burial not a vigil or memorial with unamswered questions.. A hometown mystery every 10 year decade anniversary of Erica's death disappearance or whatever happened to the our little Angel. Beth could let us know if they truly hit her with their van is that even the TRUTH I've always wondered did someone else Abduct her.. People who do that usually do that alone. They are innocent in a court of law until proven guilty. To say they raped and cold hearted murdered her without any proof is on the line of slander. I think they were intoxicated which caused impaired driving and they hit her which means manslaughter, not cold blooded murder. They'd still end up getting the maximum for manslaughter, which is hefty, I think at least twenty years. It is always a possibility of something else but they need the body.

The kind of mean spirited pointless "pranks" people who are drunk, high or just plain a holes find hilarious. And she was struck. GPR(ground penetrating radar) is an amazing piece for forensic investigations. I’ve personally been on two cases where the body was located this way. I owned a GPR unit for about 5 years while doing forensic archeology. There were three different sets of Native American remains we were able to repatriate to the tribe they were associated with.

Do you live in the Kettering area? I have a place my friend and I found on google earth near Powhatton that looks suspicious. We took the info we had to the Kettering police and my friend put up caution tape. We did some digging and pulled out a hand towel out of the ground that was falling apart. Took it to the police with all the info we had. 2 years later I went back to the spot and it still looked the same as when we left it. The police never check it out.

Yeah ground penetrating radar has been a thing for many years, and police in UK have been using it to find bodies for many years too. GPR UAVs are a newer technology that is currently being used in archaeology and engineering, I'm not sure if our police have used them for finding bodies? But it seems an obvious tool! Makes ground reading so much easier and with limitless movement.

@@mozzjones6943 GPR UAV’s haven’t made it to the law enforcement level here in the states either unless it’s federal law enforcement agencies. I wish I would have kept mine, I bought it to help locate and re-bury some Native Americans to their tribal nations. I used it to find old tunnels in mines, burials that were done during the Civil War to hide some of their guns and ammo, and then finding hidden structures under ground like where homes used to stand. Basically what got me into it besides archeology was your countries most popular archeology show Time Team. I used to watch that show every time a new show came on. I wish Mick was still alive. Around Dayton you have so many areas to hide a body of ways to hide a body. There is body's of water and abandoned buildings. You could easily go to Indiana or even Kentucky to hide it. Michigan isn't all that far either. We.have farm land and if they knew someone that has a pig farm. She wouldn't ever be found. If memory serves me correct. I think the lawyer passed away and so did a few other people that knew where she might have possibly been baried.

The fact that Vincent Doan was sent to Prison even though Carrie's body has never been found is small amount of Justice for her family..Vincent thought he'd never get caught without her body being found well, in our Country the body of the victim doesn't need to be found for a murder conviction..He'll never tell where they put her v body he's a Sociopath Narcissist he'd never admit Guilt and then tell where she is.. Vincent murdered Carrie went crying to his Dad and Brother so they'd helped him make sure her body would never be found.. A Law Enforcement Official also told them "when" a pond/lake was going to be searched giving them a chance to get Carrie's body out of that pond if she was there.. The Law Enforcement Official was fired I believe for telling them beforehand that the pond/lake was being searched.

Raised there, with many Gen-X born I was raised with, just so many sad suicides and questionable deaths in the Farms, I remember but am also researching. I ran everywhere long hours over Lake Accotink park, and many kids danced with the train at the trestle committing suicide. Two kids died in the tidal pool near the marina, one guy bungy jumped to his death from the trestle, and many more suicides also. I haven't went to records of Fairfax County yet, but the Park Authority refuse any documentation of deaths there in the history of Fairfax. I want to do a real documentary book about the area and the death I've always felt there, but I need an advance to sustain me for 6 months doing so. Thank you Lamont, another Dayton story of a poor little girl. I live in the area, and this story has haunted the community, since there has been no "closure." By the way, Jan Franks died in prison (I can't remember why she was there), and detectives questioned her attorney, who would not give up her client's "secrets" even though her client was dead, so she spent time in jail for obstructing.
