Not only that, but Lupin had reconnected with Sirius for only a year after being led to believe for 12 years that Sirius had murdered another of their friends and caused the death of Lily and James. Even with Sirius overlooking and forgiving that, Lupin has to feel really bad about abandoning Sirius.

@@chris...9497to be fair, I don’t think Sirius wouldn’t have any reason not to forgive Lupin for that. Because it’s kind of his own fault why Lupin thought he was the traitor. Sirius is the one who made the plan to change who the secret keeper is, and deliberately got James and Peter to hide it from Lupin since Sirius thought Lupin was the spy so thought that Lupin should believe the original plan of Sirius being the secret keeper. So I don’t think there’s any reason why Sirius wouldn’t forgive him, since it’s not Lupin fault. He had no reason to believe otherwise, and Lupin had more reasons to believe Sirius was the spy than Sirius did with Lupin to leave him out in the first place. These are the reasons why Sirius didn’t escape Azkaban earlier, because he truly thinks his own actions caused James and Lily’s death.

@@clover2739 I sincerely believe Sirius would easily hold nothing against Lupin (it's Sirius's forgiving 'dog nature'; dogs overlook or fail to recognize a lot). I was commenting on the heavy emotional burden Lupin would have self-inflicted upon himself. Film-Lupin has lived a tragic life since early childhood; out of this has developed a very noble character (hence, why he eventually resigns his teaching position), but it also leads him to accept responsibility for the impact of his life, whether it's his fault or not.

And lupine character is about his own self hatred for who he is, when snape exposed who Lupin is out of spite and he got piles of piles of angry letters for who he is that’s a lot on anyone and affected him badly. I’m not saying he’s not noble, but a big part of his character is his own self hatred and he alwayd gives up or sabotages himself because of it

@@melindamercier6811 I felt the exactly opposite, Hbp is my favorite book, and the movie lost big part of his main essence if you get what I mean, (it was supposed to be about the nuances of a certain house and a certain tribute), and it was very confusing and weak in the DRACO plot too, basically we only had Slughorn in the focus when it was supposed to be also 3 more characters of the house. It was mostly focused in the comedy and superficial details letting the most important details out, since even the main villain backstory was left behind (something that was really missing for a good big series). I can't tell more or I would be spoiling the experience but in my opinion it felt like the director of these last movies was biased about a main conflict, and didn't want to let any hidden homage/tributes of the series to shine in the movies 🫢 At the end JK Rowling was the one to fault about "Slytherin to be considered a bad house" in the story, but she had an entire book to get some deep view about the house and break the old myths of the wizarding world and it was completely erased by the movies 😔 (basically for only movies viewers Voldemort was bad for the fact he was a Slytherin, and no one ever get the meanings of the "revelation of the half blood prince" role in the plot.

The Marauder’s map that Fred & George gave Harry in the third book & movie was actually created by Harry’s dad, James, along with Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, and Sirius. It has all their nicknames on the map. The 3 guys who weren’t werewolves decided to learn how to become Animagi - people that can turn into animals - to keep Lupin company during his monthly change. They called themselves Padfoot (because dogs have pads), Wormtail for the gross rat tail, Prongs for the stag horns on the deer, and Moony for the werewolf. They were all unregistered animagi so no one knew they could do it outside of their group. This is how Sirius got past the guards in Azkaban. He changed himself into a dog and they couldn’t sense his soul anymore.

Awesome context although I will clarify that bit at the end. Although the dementors are blind, they _could_ still sense Sirius, even as a dog. However, it's way harder for them to sense animal emotions, which is why he'd change himself into a dog as small reprieve from their torment. Because his emotions came across weaker as a dog, the dementors just assumed he was losing his mind (quite common in Azkaban). He escaped by starving himself so he was skinny enough in dog form to fit to through the bars and got back to Britain by swimming across the North Sea.

Facts mentioned in the book, but not too clarified in the movie: 1) Luna is sort of anti-Hermione, because Hermione's approach is based on facts and logic, and Luna's - on belief and imagination. It is implied that Nargles are a figment of her imagination, as well as other creatures she mentions. However, she's a Ravenclaw, and not for nothing: if you remember, Ravenclaw house appreciates learning, wit and wisdom. 2) In the book, teachers see that Umbridge tortures Harry the most and try to encourage him while being banned to talk to students about anything apart from their subjects. And Fred and George's last trick before leaving Hogwarts is turning a corridor into a swamp that Umbridge can't remove... and other teachers can, but don't do so. In the movie, it is expressed in that tiny "YES!" from Flitwick. 3) In the book, it is Cho's friend Marietta (absent from the movie) who tells Umbridge about Dumbledore's Army, and what's worse, she does it WILLINGLY. But Hermione secretly jinxed the paper the members signed, and Marietta got purple zits forming the word SNEAK on her face. Harry and Cho break up, because Harry thinks it was a brilliant idea, while Cho doesn't

Something important from the books that was almost skimmed over in this movie was what happened to Neville's parents. When Neville was a baby, Bellatrix and Barty Crouch Jr. (along with 2 other death eaters), tortured Neville's parents to the point that they were permanently stuck in a vegetative state. Neville and his grandmother would regularly visit them, and Neville's mother would always give him a candy wrapper. Nevil's grandmother would always tell him to throw it away but never always kept them because they were the only interactions he would ever get with his mother. They would be the closest thing Nevelle would ever have to a relationship with her or either of his parents. What makes it even worse is that Barty Crouch Jr taught Neville for a whole year, and made Neville relive the night that he lost his parents.

  • @Kayjee17

    @Kayjee17

They were tortured into insanity, not a vegetative state, and kept in the same ward in the hospital as Lockhart. The bubble gum wrappers broke my heart for Neville because it proved his mum still knew he was her child, and she wanted to give him something that a child would like, but she wasn't sane enough to know to include the gum, too... and Neville kept the wrappers because he knew they were the only gesture of love his mum was able to give him. Another thing you find out about Neville in the books is he was given his dad's wand to start 1st year - but it's hard to get someone else's wand to work properly for you unless you win it from them in a duel or battle. Neville's dad's wand is broken in the battle in the Ministry of Magic so his grandmother buys him his own wand, and he's much better at magic after that. Same thing happened for Ron after he broke Charlie's hand-me-down wand in the 2nd year and then got his own wand... he got better at magic.

If my memory serves me well, the only magical thing that muggles saw in the books (that was a big deal) was Mr Weasley's enchanted car. (When Ron and Harry stole it) Even though it's never explicitly stated. I think muggles are more likely to notice magic when it is a muggle object being used magically. Which would make sense adding to the reasons why the Ministry has stricter regulations regarding enchanting muggle objects (besides the reasoning stated in the books).

Everyone hates Dolores Umbridge. Quite a few of us hate her more than any other villain in the series. After you're done with the movies I highly recommend reading the books or listening to the audiobooks. Actually until Harry saw Mr. Weasley being attacked Voldemort wasn't aware that Harry was "seeing" into his mind and feelings. After "possessing" Harry at the Ministry and being thrown out Voldemort never attempted to invade Harry's mind again because it caused him too much pain to be that close to a soul and heart as pur as Harry's. For example Harry's Cruciatus Curse on Bellatrix didn't work because he didn't really want to torture her. His righteous anger wasn't enough to make the spell work properly. There's more explanation about the situation between Snape and Harry's father in the books. James was an arrogant jerk but Snape was no innocent victim. In the book it was plain that Dumbledore was stronger than Voldemort and had no issues at all. He never even broke a sweat.

This is Not a Spoiler. Things in The Order of the Phoenix novel that are not in the movie; Mrs. Fig is a Squib (a person born from a wizarding family but unable to do magic) who was Harry's neighbor for many years. She was even mentioned often throughout the book series. But Harry never knew that Mrs. Fig is actually part of the wizarding community. Harry actually found out about Hagrid being a half giant by mistake during Goblet of Fire. Hagrid's biological mother, Fridwulfa is a giant. Hagrid's father was a wizard. Grawp is Hagrid's brother by way of their giant mother. Ron's brother, Percy had a falling out with the Weasley family. He never believed Harry's story about Voldemort's return and was on the side of the Minister of Magic. Neville's parents are very much alive and are permanent patients at Saint Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies. Because of all the torture that Bellatrix, her husband and Barty Crouch Junior inflicted on them they are mentally damaged. While visiting Mr. Weasley in the hospital Harry, Ron and Hermione come across Neville and his grandmother and was able to meet Neville's parents. The Weasley twins weren't expelled. They quit school. When Harry won the Tri Wizard Tournament in Goblet of Fire he gave his winnings to the twins. Harry originally tried to give it to Cedric's father but he refused to take it. As a result of Harry giving it to the twins Fred and George started using the money to start a side business and made Harry as a secret investor and silent partner. That is why the twins kept inventing all sorts of magical practical joke sweets throughout Order of the Phoenix. When the Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Ginny and Luna flew the Thestrals the majority of them couldn't see what it was they were flying. Earlier in the school year they did learn about Thestrals in Magical Beasts class when Hagrid introduced them to the students. Those who had witnessed death had no trouble seeing them. But the rest couldn't and all they saw was raw meat being devoured by some invisible entities. When the group flew the Thestrals it was as if they were flying on thin air. They can feel the animals but couldn't see them. In the end of the book when Harry talks to Dumbledore in his office, Dumbledore reveals that the prophecy actually came from Professor Trelawney and it was he who witnessed Professor Trelawney make prophecy while she was in a trance. The prophecy was; "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..." Dumbledore said that two babies were born at the end of July. Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom. Though the prophecy fit Neville just the same as Harry because Neville's parents also defied Voldemort three times, it was Harry that Voldemort chose to kill instead of Neville. It is believed that Voldemort chose Harry because Harry's mother was a muggleborn. Neville's parents are purebloods. During the last evening at Hogwarts Harry desperately runs to the ghost of Nearly Headless Nick and tries to talk to him about Sirius possibly coming back as a ghost. But Nick tells Harry that the only reason why Nick is a ghost residing at Hogwarts is because he refused to move on to the beyond. He refused to let go and wanted to remain. Nick explained to Harry that Sirius moved on. 📚🪄🔮

Fun fact: When JK Rowling was writing the OotP book, she originally intended to kill Arthur off in the part where he got attacked by Nagini instead of killing off Sirius, since Arthur was a father figure to Harry. She changed her mind because she decided she didn't want to leave seven children fatherless. The book confirms that Umbridge was the one who sent the Dementors as part of a Ministry attempt to cover up Voldemort's return. Also, it's not in the movies, but Bellatrix and Narcissa, Draco's mother, are sisters; Harry notices the Malfoys are on the Black family tree, meaning Draco is also a cousin of Sirius. And Snape was the one who told the Order about what Harry and everyone else was doing, that's why they arrived to help.

Fun facts/answers to some of your questions: While this is the longest book, the film is the second shortest. And before you come at me in the comments, this is all things that are not or barely mentioned in the films so these are NOT considered spoilers. Mrs. Figg, Harry's neighbour, is revealed to be a Squib, which is a non-magical person who is born with at least one magical parent (kind of the opposite of a Muggleborn). Filch is also a Squib. The revelation that Umbridge was the one who sent the dementors that attacked Harry and Dudley is cut from the film. Quidditch is entirely cut from the film. Kreacher the house-elf has a bigger part in the book. Dobby helps Harry discover the Room of Requirement, not Neville (it is also Dobby who gives Harry the Gillyweed in Goblet of Fire instead of Neville). Harry, Ron and Hermione meet Neville's parents, who were tortured into insanity by Bellatrix, at St. Mungo's Hospital. They also see Gilderoy Lockhart who's memory is still severely damaged. The memory that Harry sees of his dad bullying Snape is longer and more detailed in the book. It's actually about Lily ending her friendship with Snape after he called her a Mudblood. So while James was still an asshole he was actually defending Lily. It's revealed that Professor Trelawney's prophecy about "The Chosen One" could have been about Neville as his birthday was also at the end of July. And Dumbledore explains the real reason Harry has to stay with the Dursleys every summer: When Lily sacrificed herself she invoked an ancient and powerful spell in which her blood serves as protection for Harry against Voldemort. Harry's blood was so essential to Voldemort's resurrection because this would finally make him immune to Harry's touch. The magical blood protection is so powerful that it even works with aunt Petunia. As Lily's sister, Petunia is her closest living blood relative, Harry is protected as long as he stays where she stays until the age of 17. Imelda Staunton doesn't get enough credit for her portrayal of Dolores Umbridge, one of the most despicable characters on film. Stephen King himself said that she was the greatest villain since Hannibal Lecter. Director David Yates described her as a splice between Doris Day and Freddy Krueger. It has also been noted by many fans, Imelda Staunton and even J. K. Rowling herself that she bears many similarities to the late British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Thatcher, similar to Umbridge, was minister for education, and was also known for being radical, harsh and in some cases extreme with her policies and methods in running the country. She made many changes that the public disagreed with (though ironically, she was the one to ban the cane in British schools) but she was also known for her soft approach when addressing the public. Umbridge's hairstyle even bears a resemblance to that of Thatcher. Furthermore, the power granted to Umbridge by Fudge to consolidate his political strength and squash his perceived enemies is not unlike the abuse members of the Nixon administration committed during the Watergate Era. In addition, Umbridge's final crimes are the "ethnic cleansing" of Muggle-born wizards, analogous to the Nazi persecutions leading to the Holocaust. J.K. Rowling has stated that Umbridge is LOOSELY based on a former teacher of hers. She chose the name to reflect her character. Her first name comes from the Latin word for sorrow or pain, "dolor". Umbridge is a play on "umbrage", which is offense or annoyance, and comes from the Latin word "umbra" (shade or shadow). The word usually appears in the phrase "to take umbrage". In Harry Potter, Umbridge is more hated than Voldemort. Coincidentally, she shares a lot of similarities with Voldemort. Both are blood supremacists and half-bloods who despised their own race. Both hold negative emotions for their parents. Both hold positions of power and are feared by many wizards and witches. And both left permanent scars on Harry. Fun little detail about Umbridge is that her clothing becomes darker shades of pink as she gains more and more power throughout the film. I have to say though, as a cat lover I am very offended by the portrayal of cat lovers in the book/film! Non-verbal spells are highly difficult and usually less powerful. To perform magic without saying the incantation requires serious practice, skill, concentration and discipline, which is why two of the greatest wizards, Dumbledore and Voldemort, are able to do it. Students at Hogwarts are only trained in non-verbal magic during their N.E.W.T. years (sixth and seventh years). Snape tries to teach the kids how to use it in his DADA class in the sixth book (still mad they took any of that out of the film). Harry's vision of Sirius wasn't real. It was just what Voldemort wanted him to see and to lure him to get the prophecy. Padfoot was Sirius' nickname (as he could turn himself into a dog who has soft fleshy pads on its feet) he used when he, Remus, James and Peter created the Marauders Map. It was also his nickname for the Order of the Phoenix. Harry used it to tell Snape he was in danger and WHERE, and Snape pretended not to know anything, but he DID know and he is the one who alerted the order. Harry's scream when Sirius dies is said to have been muted because it was too agonising and actually caused Helena Bonham Carter, Emma Watson and Bonnie Wright to cry. However, some people think it was simply done to add a dramatic sense of numbness to the scene. There's also a popular belief that Dan's grandmother had just died so his reaction was real. But there's no proof of that. One of his grandmothers did, however, pass away in October 2008, a year after the film was released. Dan's other grandmother was still alive in 2016, as in interviews, he said he'd hate for her to have seen his film "Imperium" which came out that year. Harry's behaviour towards Cho in the film kinda pissed me off. In the book, they actually started a relationship and breaking up was a mutual decision. Cho was not tortured by Umbridge and forced to reveal, AGAINST HER WILL, where Dumbledore's Army was practising. It was Cho's friend Marietta Edgecombe who WILLINGLY leaked information to Umbridge. Btw in the scene where Harry tells Ron and Hermione about the kiss their laughing was improvised. J.K. Rowling said that Harry wouldn't have remembered his parents' death clearly enough because of him being just a baby at the time, but, unlike in the book, in the first film he sees Quirrell die. Because of this, he should've been able to see the Thestrals from his second year, but Thestrals hadn't been mentioned in the books at the time so the filmmakers wouldn't have known about the potential continuity error. It is not mentioned in the film that Nymphadora Tonks is also related to Sirius; she is the daughter of Andromeda Tonks who is Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy's sister. Andromeda's name can be seen on the family tree in Sirius' house but her photo has been burned off. The book explains that her family disowned her for marrying Ted Tonks, a Muggle-born. Harry may have been right about the mistletoe being full of Nargles, because they are magical creatures that live in mistletoe. But no one has ever seen one and Luna is the only character known to believe in their existence. When Bellatrix takes Neville hostage in the Department of Mysteries, Helena Bonham Carter improvised and put her wand into his ear. However, she got so carried away that she damaged Matthew Lewis' eardrum and he almost lost his hearing. The only spell Neville used successfully against an enemy, Petrificus Totalus, is the same spell Hermione used on him in the first film. Beautiful note: Evanna Lynch had written a letter to J.K. Rowling about her struggles with anorexia before being cast as Luna Lovegood. If you're into some behind the scenes gossip: Emma Thompson (Trelawney) and Kenneth Branagh (Lockhart) were married but he left her for Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix), though years before. So if you've seen Love Actually then THAT moment hits you even harder. And yes, the dementors are utterly useless! 😆

Fun fact about wand lore: wand length is almost always average for most wizards. Those with exceptionally large wands usually have them because of a physical need such as Hagrid needing a larger wand because of his size. A wizard with an exceptionally short wand, however, usually have one because they are lacking something within themselves. Why do I bring this up? Because in all of Harry Potter there is only one character that has ever had an exceptionally short wand. That character is Dolores Umbridge.

Just a few things guys: the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort seems to end in a draw because Dumbledore had a very good reason to not try and kill Voldemort. I can't tell you more at this point but you'll find out soon. The prophecy is a perfect example of a self-fulfilling one. The only reason why it makes any sense is because Voldemort, who was told the first part of it (that's why now he tried so hard to get the whole thing) believed it and acted upon it. Had he not killed Harry's parents and tried to murder Harry himself, none of this would have happened. Harry would be just another ordinary wizard boy. By believing the prophecy and acting upon it Voldemort himself created his own worst enemy, the man most likely to finish him and he also gave him the tools for the job.

It wasn't said in the movie, but it was Umbitch, I mean, Umbridge, who sent those Dementors at the beginning. Since people were saying how Harry was a nuisance to the Ministry. If you didn't realize, the one who made the prophecy was Trelawney, which is one of the reasons Dumbledore keeps her at school. That scene at Dumbledore's office is so much bigger. Harry actually is so angry and frustrated that he starts wrecking the place in front of Dumbledore and yell at him. I do hope the series does it justice. Just so you know, Padfoot is Sirius. He is called like that because of his padded paws as a dog. Snape knows of this nickname, but, of course, he had to pretend he had no idea. But he is the one who sent the Order to help the kids. Btw, plot mistake, the Room of Requirement is supposed to be really secret. So Hermione could not know about it. Actually, a few of the people aware of it are the Hogwarts house elves. Dobby is the one who tells the kids about it, not Neville. Dobby works at Hogwarts since last year, thank you movie, for not showing that.

But he didn't technically escape). The guards of Azkaban, the Dementors, are fearsome creatures, and not at all "good". A bonus mention also has to go to the centaurs who go from eloquent and proud noble creatures in the book to braying animals who don't even speak here. The indignant speech that Bane makes in the book after Delores calls him almost human is great, as far as the centaurs are concerned being compared to a simple human is a great insult.

    - 25:34 - One of the things not in the films is what happened after the Triwizard Tournament. Harry was still considered the winner, and as a result won 1,000 Galleons prize money. Harry tried to give the money to Amos Diggery, Cedric's father. But Amos wouldn't take it. Harry didn't want it, and didn't need it. The reason Fred & George wanted te enter the tournament was to win the money for their entrepreneurial venture, Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes. So, when you see Fred & George selling stuff, or getting kids to try things, they are doing business and market research for new products. Harry gave the twins the money as seed capital, and did so with a couple of provisions: 1) They bought Ron new dress robes, without mentioning Harry's name, and 2) They didn't tell their mother, Molly, where the money came from. The twins also offered Harry a kind of carte blanche discount on whatever products he wanted. Harry knew that the future was looking grim, and that everyone needed a laugh...and that Fred & George were going to help in that department. - 26:07 - Another bit of lore lost in the films was the back story of the Marauder's Map. On the Map, it says "Messers Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs proudly present The Marauder's Map" when you say "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!" The Marauders were Remus Lupin (a werewolf, so his nickname was Mooney), Peter Pettigrew (a rat, so Wormtail), Sirius Black (a dog, so Padfoot), and James Potter (a stag with full antlers, so Prongs). This is also why Harry patronus is a stag, for his father. - 29:22 - Emma Thompson and Imelda Staunton (Delores Umbridge) go back a long way. They have done several films together and are friends in real life, and neighbors in the same neighborhood. They did the films Peter's Friends (1992) and Much Ado About Nothing (1993), both directed by Emma's ex-husband, Kenneth "Gilderoy Lockhart" Branagh, Sense and Sensibility (1995) from Emma's Oscar-winning screenplay and teamed with Alan Rickman in it, then did 3 Harry Potter films. I wholeheartedly recommend all three films mentioned: - Peter's Friends stars Emma, Imelda, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, and Kenneth Branagh. there is a beautiful scene with the cast, and Imelda sings "The Way You Look Tonight" with Hugh on piano...and she has a stunningly beautiful voice. - Much Ado About Nothing from the Shakespeare play stars Emma (as Beatrice), Kenneth Branagh (Benedick), Denzel Washington (Don Pedro), Keanu Reeves (Don John), Michael Keaton (Dogberry), Robert Sean Leonard (Claudio) and Kate Beckinsale (Hero, in her film debut). Imelda plays a minor role, Margaret. - Sense and Sensibility based on Jane Austen's novel stars Emma (Eleanor Dashwood), Kate Winslet (Marianne Dashwood), Alan Rickman (Col. Christopher Brandon), Hugh Grant (Edward Ferrrars), Hugh Laurie (Mr. Palmer), Imelda (Mrs. Palmer), and three other Harry Potter actors also appear: Robert Hardy (Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge), Elizabeth Spriggs (The Fat Lady, Gryffindor common room entrance painting in Sorceror's Stone), and Gemma Jones (Madame Pomfrey, the nurse witch)

FYI: the first syllable of the name "Dobby" rhymes with "rob." So it's DAW-by, not DOE-by. Also, I saw an interview with JK Rowling where I learned the first syllable of her name is pronounced row as in "row your boat." Not rau as in having a row with someone.

I guess you didn't see the comment I put when you watched Prisoner of Azkaban. My comment was about who were the Marauders, why they have the names that is written on the map and who invented the map. This is what I wrote; One of the things that was left out of the movie but was in The Prisoner of Azkaban novel is that James Potter (Harry's father), Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew were the original inventors of The Marauders Map. That is the reason why Professor Lupin knew how to use it. When the original Marauders were students in Hogwarts they were all best friends. When James, Sirius and Peter found out that Remus is a werewolf they decided to become Animagus (wizards that can willfully magically turn into an animal just like Professor McGonagall can turn into a cat) because werewolves don't attack other animals and Remus' friends didn't want him to be alone during the full moon period. This is why the map reveals the weird names when you use the "I solemnly swear I am up to no good" spell. They were the nicknames of the Marauders. Mooney is Remus Lupin because he is a werewolf. Padfoot is Sirius Black because his animagus form is a dog. Wormtail is Peter Pettigrew because his animagus form is a rat. And James Potter is Prongs because his animagus form is a stag. Dumbledore knew about Remus' condition and how Remus became a werewolf when he was only a very small child. So he had the Womping Willow tree planted and had a tunnel put in so that Remus can hide in the Shrieking Shack during the full moon cycle. 🌜🌕🌛🐺🐶🦌🐀🪄🌳🏚 To clarify even further as to the nicknames; Mooney is Lupin because of how the moon effects him and causes him to turn into a werewolf. Padfoot is Sirius because his animagus form is a dog and dogs have padded paws for feet. Wormtail is Peter Pettigrew because his animagus form is a rat and a rat's tale looks a little like a worm. Prongs was James Potter (Harry's father) because his animagus form was a stag and stags have prong horns on their heads. 🌜🌕🌛=🐺 🪱=🐀 🐾=🐕 🦌

Due to Remus being a Werewolf, Sirius, James and Peter learned to be Animagi (wizards that can turn into animals)

I remember a passage where Harry walks out of his room and stumbles over a cup of cold tea. He thinks Dudley was pulling a prank but truth is Dudley wanted to be nice and placed a cup of tea in front of Harry's door. Little thank you for saving his life because even though he didn't see the dementors he knew that encounter could have been fatal. Harry just didn't leave his room in time before the tea became cold

What is not explained very well in the movie is that only people who have seen death can see the Thestrals. So, imagine that everyone else cannot see the Thestrals except Harry and Luna.

Filch is a complicated character for sure. He is pretty nasty to all of the children, but he's a squib (a child of two magical parents who doesn't have powers himself), and he's been treated really badly by the wizarding world, except Dumbledore. It makes sense that when he's offered a chance to get close to any sort of power (Umbridge), he takes that chance. Also fun fact, Neville's grandmother feared he was a squib becasue he didn't show signs of powers as a kid (the Longbottoms are a long line of wizards), so she threw him out of a window! to try to force the powers to manifest edit: actually it was his uncle, not grandmother

Snape wasn't initially a bully when he was a student. He became one due to how he was treated by James and Sirius. They constantly bullied him all the way up to his fifth year, when he finally decided to befriend some Slytherin bullies, so he would have some allies to help protect him. Snape became what he hated the most, out of necessity. This also lead him to become a Death Eater.

@@Rocket1377 SPOILERS I get that the argument you’re trying to make is about Snape became a bully towards JAMES (his bully), though I think the books make it pretty clear that Snape/James antagonism was never one-sided (ie James was never the only antagonist in that relationship, Snape never missed an opportunity to curse James). In regards to Snape being a bully for “self defense”, the books, specifically the flashbacks in Deathly Hallows, make it explicitly clear that Snape bullied muggleborn kids at Hogwarts. He made excuses for his Death Eater friends torturing other students at school, calling them “pranks” when it was dark magic. Snape invented spells like Sectumsempra, and consistently used the word “mudblood” which is considered a slur in the established universe. To be clear, I’m not saying James WASN’T a bully. I’m saying Snape was ALSO a bully. Yes, even as a child.

I think Voldemorts' baldness is more to show his progression into becoming more snake-like. The serpent has been used to represent evil and sneakiness for a very long time and within the series the house slitherin is represented which was Voldemort's house. So I think his lack of hair is more to represent his cunning, evil, manipulation etc.

One thing that should be said to the people watching this movie. The book it's based on is the longest book in the series by a considerable degree. I didn't envy the team behind making OotP, but even considering the difficulty, they failed to communicate a few key points. First and most important, Dumbledore's final speech. The original chapter of Dumbledore coming clean to Harry told him almost every detail of why he let things happen the way he did. He even shared with him what he had to hold back in telling him during each Book/Movie. It was a very emotional moment where for the first time, Dumbledore is truly vulnerable. I know you're watching the movies, but I'd HIGHLY recommend you both read that chapter, or even a short synopsis of it. It's worth it. Second thing is they really didn't communicate how important and deep Voldemort and Harry's connections were. As well as the connections between Sirius and his family line of the Noble House of Black. Which are important for the final movies. The Dumbledore and Voldemort fight was well done. And yes, Voldemort is VERY scared of Dumbledore. The only one Voldemort ever feared. Everything will make sense in time. Finally, the teleporting stuff that happens in this movie doesn't really happen in the books. The whole black wispy effect on Death Eaters and the White ones for the Order of the Phoenix members were just showy for the movies. No such thing happen. There is NO flying in the world of Harry Potter that isn't on a broom except for one exception.

some facts about order of the phoenix : - matthew lewis (neville longbottom) ended up with a perforated eardrum as he accidentally moved his head while helena bonham carter had her wand in his ear. it left him deaf in the ear for a few days, but thankfully things sorted themselves out. - the film reveals several characters to be in sirius black's family, most notably his cousin bellatrix lestrange who is sisters with narcissa malfoy, narcissa is draco malfoy's mother. one connection that is not mentioned in this film is that tonks is family as well, she's first cousin once removed, as her mother, andromeda is sister to bellatrix lestrange and narcissa malfoy. andromeda's name can be seen on the tapestry in the family tree room but her portrait has been burned off because her family disowned her from marrying a muggle-born wizard. tonks name is also on the tapestry, but it doesn't show it. several members of the black family are named after astronomical objects. you can see the names when harry and sirius are in the family tree room. sirius, regulus, andromeda, arcturus, bellatrix, and cygnus. - in the scene where lupin is holding harry back after sirius' death, harry's scream is muted entirely. radcliffe had lost a family member shortly before filming, allowing harry's scream to act as his own form of grief. daniel radcliffe's scream was so painful that it made multiple actors cry, so they decided to mute it in post-production. - evanna lynch took on the role of fan favorite, luna lovegood and had to beat 15,000 other girls to land the role, making her audition incredibly impressive. prior to being in the movies, lynch was simply a fan of the books and when she was battling her eating disorder became pen pals with the author. - tonks is meant to have bright pink hair, yet in the movie her hair is purple, but that wasn't a sloppy mistake. umbridge has so much pink throughout the movie, that color ends up being associated with a villain in this film. because of that, the decision was made to switch things up so nobody made any associations towards tonks. - originally helen mccrory was supposed to play bellatrix lestrange. however, when she fell pregnant in real life, she had to be replaced, and mccrory was later cast in a smaller role, as narcissa malfoy.

The dementors are normally great guards for Azkaban. The reason Sirius was able to escape was that he could transform himself into a dog (something very few people can do), so the dementors couldn't feel him in the same was as humans. Dementors are blind, so they wouldn't see that a big black dog suddenly appeared. Barty Crouch Jr. was able to escape by changing places with his dying mother. Crouch Sr. and his wife went to see their son in Azkaban, and they swapped. The dementors felt one healthy and one dying person coming in, and one healthy and one dying person coming out. The breakouts in this book/film is a bit different. The dementors are evil in their nature, so they are now on Voldemort's side. So they just let these extremely dangerous prisoners out so they could join Voldemort. Dumbledore has been telling Fudge that this was likely to happen, but as usual Fudge didn't listen. Fudge is actually very jealous of Dumbledore, and that's why he's extra petty about everything Dumbledore does. Discrediting Dumbledore makes him feel like he's the powerful one. But Fudge knows that Dumbledore is in fact way more powerful than he is. The ministry actually offered the post as Minister for Magic to Dumbledore three (I think) times, but Dumbledore turned it down. The movies have had quite a few different directors, which is part of the reason they have very different feels to them. This is also probably part of why the second Dumbledore is so different from the first one. I feel like Richard Harris was way better; way closer to how he is described in the book. Michael Gambon's version doesn't give off the same calm and powerful vibes at all. He feels more like a grumpy old man to me. Sirius' death is quite different in the book. Bellatrix doesn't actually use Avada Kedavra. I don't remember what she uses, but Sirius dies from falling into that strange archway that Harry and Luna heard voices from. I feel like that's a lot more interesting than just firing off the killing curse.

Snape did understood the message and did alert the Order to go to the Ministry (as a spy he could not act himself). The Marauders were pranksters and Snape - an awkward, lonely, bitter and dark Slytherin - was their favorite target. Unfortunately James and Sirius - especially when it came to Snape - did not know where to draw a line. Sirius lured Snape into the Shrieking Shack during full moon as "prank". Fortunately James - who realized that this "prank" actually could end with murder - got Snape out before he got mauled by a transformed Lupin. It is not really explicitly said in the book but it is implied that James did grew up into a loving husband and father. Sirius - spending 14 years in Azkaban - did not so much. The hatred between Sirius and Snape was fresh as ever.

The books give infinetly more details. It explains f.ex why Voldemort looks the way he does. It also divulges that it was actually Umbridge that sent the Dementors to Little Winging. She is the ultimate example of an opportunist that uses everything to get control. She might actually think that Dumbledore was undermining the Ministry, but with every action she takes, she shows her evil. In stark contrast to Harry, she acts on her worst impulses. She is supposed to be the most obvious example of someone that thinks they are doing what is right, but isn't. So many people think they would oppose the Nazis in the 30s or the Bolsheviks in Russia, but most people are actually like her (or Seamus' mother).
