So i've been through hell trying to fit this video under KZread terms! Now i understand guys who says "full video on patreon" more, because it's not the video I wanted to upload, but it's the one I ended up with. Now I understand youtube's policy much better and next time I will try to do everything much faster and better.

A great story. All actors delivered a superb performance. Morgan Freeman's narration… Perfect. This tarnishes it for me, however. The escape would not be possible in real life. Let me explain. If he was covering up the hole with a poster, when crawled through it to escape… How did he ever cover it back up? If it was taped at the top and let fall down. When the warden pressed on it, it would have been pushed in. Instead, when he poked his finger on it, it tore just like it was taped flat against the wall.

Happy to hear someone enjoy the score as much as me. I was maybe about 16 (early 2000's), when they showed Shawshank Redemption on national television. It has stayed with me ever since. It's hard to argue with it being one of the best movies ever, and it is definitely a top 5 for me - it's hard to pick just one.

I was working as an editor in Hollywood during the 90s. Editors will often add music from other soundtracks as a placeholder to punch up a scene until the film is properly scored. Whenever I had a really emotional scene, my go-to music was "Brooks' Theme" from the Shawshank soundtrack. The only problems I had were when the director fell in love with it too much and disliked everything that the composer came up with.

I’ve done 2 years in prison twice. I agree with Red except that I don’t think it takes that long to get used to it. The human mind is extremely adaptable to its environment. I had an out date that wasn’t far away so that kept me from getting too sucked in, but I can imagine that if it wasn’t for that I could get used to it and it wouldn’t be too bad. Especially being locked up 30+ years. It starts to become all that you remember.

Best movie ever and the best reaction ever. I’ve seen this movie from day one hundreds of times because I’m a huge fan of Stephen King as I should be living in the same state as Mr King not from his town. Lived in Buxton, Portland and have driven by both prisons mentioned in the movie. So all the scenes hit home because I actually know what they look like compared to the movie. Ok now read the book plus you started your life long journey to keep watching this genius work of art called the Shawshank Redemption over and over. Compare the novella to the movie and a little secret is each time you watch the movie you’ll find something new that you didn’t see the time before. Have fun and enjoy !

I have watched this great movie more times than the numbers of tears you shed watching it. I was in my mid thirties when i first saw this classic way back in the 90's on cable. It is one of the few movies that it doesn't matter what you are doing or where you're supposed to be, but if you see it on screen you are stopping everything and watching it to the end. Its crazy to think that it just did not do well at all at the box office, but is now considered one of the best, if not the best movie of all time.

First seen this movie when it came out I was 40 last time was today 70. I don't think Stephen King's books are pure Horror, are there horrific things in them YES, but I think they are more psychological thrillers... not horror. He is one of the best writers of Character development ever. He has an uncanny ability to feel the Human condition regardless of ever being in that situation himself. Glad to see you so happy at the end. This and Green Mile are both in my top ten.

A point to be made about the movie's title; Andy is the main character, but it is Red's Redemption. Andy didn't commit a crime so there was nothing to redeem. Red did commit a horrible crime by sabotaging the brakes on his wife car to collect a large life insurance policy she had come into. Ended up killing the neighbor and the neighbor's child due to brakes failing. Red found his redemption after Andy escaped prison, Red finally accepted responsibility for his actions, voiced his sincere regret/remorse for the horrible crime he committed, said let's cut the bullshit to the parole board, and gained his freedom / redemption.

Good choice of movie to react to Lera, amazing movie, the best movie NEVER to win an Oscar, and a great cast too. Morgan Freeman deserved an Oscar for this, just for the narration.

If you like Thomas Newman's magnificent score, I would suggest a great film called "The Road To Perdition" from 2002. even though it was directed by Sam Mendes and had a stacked cast including Tom Hanks, Jude Law, Daniel Craig, and the great Paul Newman in his last film role, it somehow fell through the cracks and got missed by far too many people. It's a terrific film, with an equally gorgeous Thomas Newman score.

It’s funny how we can cry over the hardships of monsters. I guess that is what separates us from them. Brooks murdered his wife and daughter. Red killed his wife by disabling her brakes which also killed the neighbors child.

something a lot of people don't get is how much of the warden's money Andy actually took. $370k in 1966 dollars = 3.48 MILLION today! This was the perfect script, directed perfectly!

I saw it at the show when it first came out! A fantastic movie should have won for best picture. And Morgan Freeman for best supporting actor. 😮

Except for the tacked-on, happy ending (book ends with his phrase, 'I Hope') I loved this movie. It's a pretty faithful adaptation of the story. Ps (edit) the Kid (and warden) survive in the book. They shut up the kid my moving him to a min security prison and let him out early. The warden I seem to recall ends up *in* Shawshank (need to reread that book now :) If you liked this, You'll *love* The Green Mile, also a prison movie based on a Stephen King series, with the same director.
