I have some questions to *John Wick* | First time watching

Фильм және анимация

#movie #reaction #firsttime
It is really hard to edit the reaction on action movie. So much going on that you don't want to miss everything and just sitting there and watching. When i was finishing the video i understood that i have less than 30 mins of content! But anyway, i hope you'll enjoy the video and will not hate me for what i said at the end.

My three critiques of this film, starting at the end of the movie. 1 The last fight was lackluster. The choice to make it a fist fight, after demonstrating John's hand to hand combat skills the entire movie, without demonstrating Viggo's skills at all was not well set up. Then to make it last longer than 5 seconds, made it even more unbelievable. 2 The blowing up of the vehicles at the safehouse. this felt like an afterthought plugged into the movie. I don't even think Keanu was the actor that pressed the little remote. Up to that point, most of the action was sufficiently foreshadowed, but this seemed out of place and out of character. 3 When Viggo gave up his son's location as being at the safe house at 434 Wallace, he took on the demeanor of a, kind of, badass that was in league with john to kill his son. Then went so far as to warn him about the people who were there to protect his son. It was just not believable that a father would not only give up his own son, but give valuable intel about the expected resistance. It just landed flat for me. Other than that, I think the movie took action filming to anew height, set the bar for future film makers. Also, I love the ability of the film maker to get you emotionally invested with the main character in only 10 minutes before the first word of dialogue was just masterful.

In the Kennel, there was a small red tag, which meant the Dog was supposed to be put down, so John rescued him. In These Movies, Keanu did most of his Stunts and had extensive Weapon Training. There's KZread videos of it... He IS a true Badass! AMAZING... "Ms. Perkins" was played by Adrienne Paliki. She's a Blonde in the TV Sci-fi Comedy, "The Orville".

An ancient order called Assa-sins used to accept only gold as payment (weight in gold) for their services such as espionage, murder, or counterintelligence. It adds to the believability of the movie since there is precedence in real history. Some even argue that this is the origin of the Beggars Guild in China's past as well as the Ninja of Japan. If I may add a personal note, people who do work in military, intelligence and kill or capture squads must keep their feelings firewalled so they don't get in the way of what must be done.

Baba Yaga is a Shape shifting witch. Most often she appears as an old lady but she can shape shift and appear as a young girl or an old man. So depending on what form she is in she could be a witch or a boogeyman. So if she is a witch in the guise of an old man and her true self is an old woman then even as an old man she could still be called Baba Yaga

Lera reminds me of Franka Potente. Lera the building that John Wick broke into is a animal quarantine building at a international dock. The dog John Wick picked was a pitbull which was scheduled to be destroyed because the breed is thought to be aggressive. (Their not. Theres jyst a bunch of bad owners) Whats ground breaking in the John Wick movies is they spent a lot of money in pre-production on the actions scenes. Unlike most movies where the fight scenes are choreographed shortly before filming evolvingonly the actors. The director had the entire film crew set up during the the choreographing od the fight scenes. This way camera angles. lighting, and action could be planned to exactly what was desired.

I think the writers, or a writer, definitely confused Babay/Bababka, the Night Spirit/Boogeyman figure that was described as a male version with Baba Yaga. Regarding the Baba Yaga thing, I was confused at first too as I saw this film when it came out as I had only known of Baba Yaga being an ugly, old crone or hag that punished bad children. Though to be fair, I'm American and I'm mostly Swedish, Italian and Sicilian so I never heard of Russian/Slavic mythology until my late teen years, and I was much more interested in Greek and Norse Mythology when I was younger. Also, did you know that the first John Wick film wasn't expected to make money and the movie became really popular almost entirely by word of mouth? I don't remember anybody being excited or talking much about the first film until after it came out and the film became a huge sleeper hit.

Strange idea to react to an extremely violent movie and hide most of the violence. That's like reacting to a rom-com and hiding most of the kissing and comedy. I like your reactions, you're fun to watch. But maybe consider lightening up on the editing (other reactors show much more violence in videos that have been on KZread for years) or maybe consider sticking to more PG-rated movies; the middle ground of showing R violence edited down to Disney levels of PG was awkward. Just a thought. Keep being awesome!

I expect that people who watches this reaction already have seen the movie. So i don't need to show them all violence and trigger KZread algorithms with that. It takes a lot of tries to upload the video and get video monetized. Sometimes i don't even understand what is the problem so i need to cut out all the parts that KZread can consider "doubtful". And yes, if i'll react on rom-com i have to be aware how much i will show as well XD A lot of kissing and nudity can bring my channel to banning. But i hope you liked video anyway.

Like you I enjoyed the movie. But I also agree that the movie and franchise are flawed. My issues: 1) Everything after the nightclub scene is anticlimactic. And the finale which should have been great had John killing a middle aged man who was really no match for him. Not a good way to arrange things in an action movie. 2) After all Vigo knew about John Wick, all he'd told his son about him and all he'd just seen him do for the crime of merely killing his dog, why would Vigo think it a good idea to kill John Wick's only friend? 3) Why would John Wick, a man of FOCUS, who was always supposedly on his guard think it a good idea to sleep with his curtains open when he knew there was a contract out on him? 4) How do you survive being thrown off a balcony and landing flat on your back without it breaking your back? 5) And on the subject of survival, there were at least three places where John Wick by all rights should have died by being thrown off a balcony by being shot inb his sleep by an assassin and after Vigo had him tied up. But he escaped each time unscathed. This tells the audience that John Wick cannot be killed making every subsequent scene about as exciting as playing Call of Duty in safe mode. Same goes for the sequels. Not a good idea to make your protagonist immortal in an action movie if you are going to attract an audience to enjoy the fight scenes. Yet it seemed to have no effect. Enjoyed the commentary. I agree with you.

Agreed on 1, the whole let's have a fistfight crap doesn't make sense. I also think that whole emotional heart pouring while tied up is un-characteristic of John (seems like an exposition for audience in case they didnt get why the dog meant so much for John). 3. John is on "sacred" ground, killing someone in continental is basically suicide (as proved by Perkins), so I can give it a pass. 4. On your back is argubaly the safest way to land and although unlikely to just walk it off, I don't think it is impossible.

@leracroftplay Next movies are definitely good and enjoyable, just don't expect some creative deep storytelling (although there is decent amount of worldbuilding). Mostly it is (a lot) more action which gets amped up more and more (and you need quite a lot of suspension of disbelief). Hand-to-hand fights are mostly realistic and based on functional martial arts moves, (e.g. no "crane kicks" and crap like that) and there is lots of creative environment usage. Gun-handling is quite accurate in terms of needing to actually reload and how they are held and fired (although their effectivness will go under the disbelief part the more the movies go on).

  • @itt23r

    @itt23r

@@k11su The man of focus also runs out of ammo in the nightclub and finishes that fight with some kung fu against the last of Vigo's thugs apparently still alive. But after he is thrown off the balconey he remembers' oh yeah, I have a gun strapped to my ankle. And he uses it to make his escape. As to John sleeping with the drapes open. It makes no sense since an assassin would not technically have to be on Continental grounds to kill him. Sleeping with the drapes open is like asking to be taken out.

5:40 "There is actually a murderer..." (speaking about the man who killed the dog) Nope. I always call this out because everybody misuses the word "murder". It does not mean "something was killed and I'm emotional about it" but that is how everybody, especially Americans, use the word. Often, people deliberately misuse it to manipulate whoever is listening so we all get emotional about it too. The actual definition is "an unlawful premeditated killing of one human by another human". Killing the dog was unlawful, a jury might or might not decide it was premeditated, bit it was not a human, so it's not a murder, even when it makes us really angry.

So how can you call a person who kills an animal with one word?

@@leracroftplay There isn't one. Animal killer. A$$hold. Monster. Monstrous animal killing a$$hole. Real words for people who are farmers or meat handlers who kill animals, usually for food are: Butcher. Slaughterer. Meat processor. At least those first two are often applied to murderers and other human-killers interchangeably, like "the murderer butchered the entire family" or "the soldiers slaughtered the enemy" etc. When that happens, that's colorful imagery but it's not quite misusing those words because those words are not legal terms used in a court of law. "Murder" is a legal term. That makes a lot of difference.

You’re arguing the LEGAL definition. While killing an animal isn’t legally “murder”, it is a murder, since murder is simply the killing of something.

@@Parallax-3D No, that's completely wrong. Merriam Webster, Oxford English Dictionary, even Wikipedia, all include "unlawful" and "premeditated" and "human killing another human" in some form or another of the definition of "murder". It's not just "killing". And it's not just courts of law that define it that way. It's the accepted definition of the word in all English speaking countries and even just in dictionaries. "Murder" is not "simply the killing of something." You know what is? "Killing" is "simply the killing of something." They are not equivalent or synonymous.
