Composed and written by Sri Muthuswamy Dikshitar in Raag Sharavati, this is an unusual composition describing Saraswati as the universal intelligence in nature. The words describe Saraswati as "characharatmaka" the one who resides in all animate and inanimate objects as intelligence of the universe, and "prapanch rupini" of the form of an illusion, Saraswati is an elusive energy, a numinous presence, 'the brilliance that underlies an artists creation', at once here and then not. "Shabdaarth swarupini" she who appears as the meaning of the word...and as "girvani" consolidating the thought process into understanding and meaning.
We present to you the idea of Saraswati as envisioned by the great creative genius of Dikshitar, on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, celebrated as Saraswati Puja.
