Ran Karat false, KD is arguably better than MJ skill wise. Better handles, further and wider range (not even close honestly), just as efficient, always willing to take the last shot so he has that “killer instinct,” more versatile defender (not necessarily better on the perimeter but more useful in a variety of places so you argue that’s better). MJ just happened to be the perfect player for his era and system, there’s timing and circumstances that he was ready for but the occurrence of those things ever happening was out of his control. I dont know if anyone will ever be flat out greater, he’s Jordan for a reason. Closest is Lebron (greatest ever imo), Kareem and Wilt. But in terms of skill... you can make an argument for a few ppl but KD is who I immediately think of.

@@DJ-ys9pv If there is a party called NBA all defensive team. KD will not be invited. KD may be a great defender but he is not consistent. He is never a lock down defender. So he is far from MJ, Kobe, Lebron. All can score 30pts a night and have been in the 1st defensive team. KD cant even enter all defensive 2nd team. KD is more comparable to Clyde Drexler/Tmac

yup he admits to not trying his best… Kobe wasn’t as physically gifted as VInce, McGraddy… but his dedication to his craft is what catapulted him to the GOAT conversation at one point. This is an issue that plagues most EXTREMELY gifted individuals. Many are successful underachievers. A true accomplishment for some may be a walk in the park for these individuals. These individuals often limit themselves by using “regular” people’s standards of success as their own. To almost everyone, being a HOF all-time great bigman is a dream. But Shaq could’ve been even more. It’s unfair to Shaq in a way, but it’s the truth.... Main point is, don’t ever use someone else’s standard of success as your own. Get the most out of who you are, and you’ll never regret what you end up being. There’s a reason for why Shaq is insecure everytime someone clowns him about his career and for why Kobe is so peaceful in retirement. One gave it his all, and one knows he had more in the tank.

Shaq’s is a story of an UBER, MEGA, EXTREMELY gifted individual. 99.999999999999999% of the population can’t be lazy and still accomplish equivalent feats as Shaq in their respective fields. Even if you’re talented, don’t think you can approach your craft like Shaq and be successful.

He'd have 8+ rings, 8 season mvp's, 1st in career points, 1st or second in career blocks and rebounds. He could of put up many seasons where he averaged 35 points, 18 rebounds, 4 blocks a game if he was in shape and focused 100% on basketball.

He also got to play with the lakers and at that time when it was ran well. As for Barry he retired in his prime because he said he was losing interest in the sport because the franchise wasn't putting a winning team on the field and i feel that's why calvin johnson retired as well.

I’ve said this repeatedly!!!!!!! Shaq NEVER gave his all on the court. He just coasted by. Kobe was as serious and mature as he could be, the same couldn’t be said for Shaq’s sorry ass. He was enormous and that was enough for him to be able to play bully ball in the paint, bustin up opponents’ mouths swinging elbows. Gary would know more so than anyone else. It is absolutely NO wonder that Shaq never won defense player of the year nor did he ever lead the league in rebounds. He wasn’t trash, but he wasn’t a ‘winner’ til he teamed up with Kobe, flat the **** out. On top of that, he loved to hang out on the sidelines at All Star games, right with the players who didn’t make the All Star team, sitting in the ‘peanut gallery’. In all honesty Shaq rode Kobe and Flash’s coattails to championships. He dam sure couldn’t do anything against Olajuwon in the Finals, even with Penny.
