Agreed! I haven't liked viewings, and it took me years to understand why. It's not at all because of the person who passed away, but it's because I don't want my last memory of that person to be after they've been embalmed and wearing things in ways they wouldn't have worn the same way when alive. I'll be asking for a closed casket funeral, if there is a casket.

100% agree. I’ve already arranged that. 77 and healthy but my time will come. No viewing for the same reasons. I’ve discussed it with my daughter. She’s a respiratory therapist and has a healthy attitude toward death so she made it easy. Keep being the strong and classy woman you are Shannon!

I remember in junior high writing a fan letter to Shannon Doherty. I got her address out of a book that had a bunch of address’s so people could send fan mail to their favorite movie star. A few weeks later I received a post card with her picture on it and she signed the back with a big heart. She has such beautiful handwriting. I wish I still had her autograph. I moved so much as a kid, I lost so many special things. Anyway, I love Shannon Doherty and I’ll never forget my postcard.

@sarahfulvio: That is absolutely FALSE!!!!! Cancer doesn't just drop from the sky! What a ridiculous comment and attitude and dangerous one too. People must be aware that there is cause and effect in the Universe. If they get cancer, instead of going into panic mode they need to understand that cancer cells turn on and off. Chemo is what kills people more than cancer ever could, IMO. You can't poison yourself to good health. People are walking around functioning with Stage 4 cancers, go get "diagnosed" at the doctor's office and bam! Off to chemo and all of a sudden they have no hair like they were vacationing in Chernobyl. No appetite either. That means POISONING!!!!!! And now due to that satanic shit-show in a syringe known as the Covid jab, we have turbo cancers through the roof. SMH

I volunteer at a hospice and I firmly believe she is mentally preparing herself for whatever outcome. Shannon is dealing with the difficult topic of death in a logical, healthy, and brave manner. Shannon is going out on her terms, mad respect! I do hope more people start having the conversation about death with their loved ones, it’s inevitable experience and better to be prepared in terms of talking about any final arrangements or wishes.

I am healthy but I tell my family and friends not to be at my beside when I am dying . I feel dying is a personal moment between the dying and God. Having people sitting by my bedside is interrupting the transcition and I want to hear God whispers without anyone present. We came into this world alone with no audience and I want it to be the same when I leave. Only twins or multiples came with a companion. I don't want anyone watching me in that private moment. They can be at the facility in the waitng room to make arrangement for my body to be buried ASAP, no funerals either. My will states if my wishes weren't carried out they don't get their inheritance.

I loved her on Heathers. Charmed was such a typical CW terrible show (that I still watched every episode) but I didn't realize how much she brought to it until she left. I didn't think it could get worse but then it did. When it was first mentioned she was leaving I thought "good" and then I wished they would bring her back and get rid of the other three.

I was about 11 when *Beverly Hills 90210* began airing in Australia. It was a show unlike anything we had ever seen before. The characters were about 5-6 years older than me, my sister's age. It struck a chord with me as I graduated from primary (elementary) school and became a teenager myself. I have many happy memories from watching the show; I love Shannen's portrayal of Brenda Walsh - it will stay with me forever & I still watch scenes from it on KZread. In this era of social media & inauthentic "influencers" there won't be a show or cultural impact like it again.

I hate cancer. I have survived cancer but have lost so many loved ones to this evil disease. Years back, my one aunt knew she would soon die from the breast cancer that had also taken her mother (my grandmother). She planned her own funeral. She pinned notes on the clothing and jewelry she wanted to be dressed in. Wrote down some of her favorite hymns she wanted played and left notes to her husband and three children. It was difficult for them to talk with her about her death, though she desired it, so she wrote down her thoughts for them to read after her passing. I've always thought her actions were some of the kindest and bravest actions I've known. When a loved one/beloved parent dies, there is so much sorrow and anguish that sometimes it's impossible to think straight. My aunt took so much pressure off her family by making these plans despite her inability to talk with them. I've lost both my parents. When my dad died, it was incredibly difficult, and I'm sorry to say I couldn't bring myself to talk with him about it. He tried to comfort me (can you imagine, he's dying but is comforting me), but I just cried all the time. So we never spoke about it other than me telling him it was okay to let go at the end. Years later, when my mom died, I had learned that as difficult as it is, needed to talk with her about it. At first, it was difficult, but as time went on, we could easily share all our hopes, fears, and plans. So when she finally passed, it was so much easier for me. I still mourned and continue to mourn, but I've never felt as I did with my dad that there was anything left unsaid between us. My advice is to talk with your loved ones, especially your parents. It's never ever easy, but I think you will be glad you did. Huge respect to Shannen. What she is doing takes enormous courage. I pray that when it becomes my time, I am half as brave as she is. 🙏🙏🙏

She's definitely strong, and fighting a good fight, staying positive despite her unfortunate battle with cancer. I lost several family members to cancer, and they struggled to stay positive. I lost my dog to cancer a couple of years ago, and it was so difficult to deal with, even though I tried to be positive, but the closer it got to be that time, the more painful it felt. I don't grieve well, I tend to be alone, cause someone might say the wrong thing. Sorry for the elongated comment.

This is not like a dream, it's more real than physical life, and if it hasn't happened to you then you won't fully appreciate what I am talking about. Since that experience, I now know for a fact that while our bodies die, we do not. We are all are eternal and indestructible souls traveling from human body to human body purely for the experience. Part of the game of being human, is forgetting who you really are.

Awe-men to THiS. This is such a beautiful, healthy, empowered way to approach one of life's greatest transitions. What a gift Shannon is giving to so many, by modeling this approach to her own passing - not just those who care about her, but all those who follow her.
