This is the first film I've seen Akwafina in which I feel like it really suits her. In Ocean's 8, Crazy Rich Asians and Raya and the Last Dragon she was just played the same character who seemed out of place in all of them. Here she actually feels like a character of the story who's grown up in this world and really is friends with Shaun.

Making these two precious chaotic beings best friends with no hint or push to anything remotely romantic makes me so goddamn happy

Their chemistry is insane. Pretty rare to see such a good platonic friendship portrayed.

Katy is a truly ride or die friend and I love it. Even when she’s pissed off and realizes he hid a lot from her it’s not, “Screw you man! You’re on your own!” It’s “You can explain on the plane Shaun!”

I wish they could build up a possible relationship, have them share a passionate kiss, and then look at each other and think "Nah, I'm good" and go back to their BFF status. Like, give us what we want, then leave the friendship intact....It's sad that we as viewers want a friendship to go romantic because most couples that we see are all chemistry, tension, and fighting, and once they get together they lose all that. Like, why take away their personalities and who they are just because they are together? It becomes boring.....Felt like this had to be said, although don't know why on here. Lol.

Me too. I thought it was a series (for whatever reason) and was all like 'ugh. I'll just watch this when I got really nothing else.' Luckily I didn't wait that long, because I LOVE this movie. The fighting is one of the best and prettiest I have ever seen. The scenes are beautiful, the story is halfway solid, and the characters are almost all relatable and funny.

I knew it would be good! But I didn’t expect my mind to be blown. And seeing the movie at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood on Labor Day weekend (an unusual time of year to release a masterpiece) made the experience something else.
