If Hayden Chistenson and Andrew Garfield get second chances to great success, so does Finn Jones.

I always felt Shang Chi is one of the new heroes Marvel should have done more with .I really enjoyed Legend of the ten Rings.

You know what I love about Shang-Chi? He’s one of the most relatable characters we have in recent years. If you take away the Ten Rings, he’s a normal person just like us. That’s one of the reasons Hawkeye is another one of my favorites, he’s just a normal man who happens to be really good at archery.

3:05 what does John expect? They have to continue the multiverse story at some point. They aren’t going to abandon it and pretend nothing happened just because John thinks it sucks. His disdain for multiverse stories gets even weirder when you think about how often he praises ASTV.

My GF was so skeptical when i asked her to go to Shang-Chi with me. Fast forward and shes rewatched the movie more than i have lol!! Im really surprised it took them so long.

Glad she liked it. I thought Sheng Chi was mid. Lot of potential with the character though. Wish the father was still alive. Best character in the movie.

John you’re lying if you saying that Finn Jones is not coming back to play Iron Fist in the MCU. There is no way that Kevin Feige is not bringing Finn Jones back as Iron Fist. Any reports on that are false because all the other Netflix characters are coming back in the MCU.

Hey John. You liked Loki, right? It had time travel AND multiverse. You are heavily anticipating Deadpool 3 right? It has time travel AND multiverse. Therefore, why are you so concerned from a marvel perspective with the premise of this movie? Marvel is 2/2 with this concept (assuming Deadpool 3 is as good as it looks).

Damn, the showrunner of Iron Fist has not done *anything* since Inhumans in 2017 and the shitty last three seasons of Dexter.

I liked Iron Fist, but I definitely thought it could be better.

Im a big Iron Fist fan, the immortal run with Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction, and David Aja and the 7 Heavenly Cities is exceptional. Netflix left something to be desired which could be resolved with a movie production. But my big question is, theres a lot of the Shang Chi movie that is taking Iron Fists lore. The alternate dimension city, a dragon, none of those are part of Shang Chi's comic histort tmk. Which I was fine with. Mash them together. But bringing Iron Fist back in that context seems a little weird. Is the city in Shang Chi some relation the K'un-L'un? Is their guardian similar to the dragon IF must defeat? I'd like a Heroes for Hire series.

Didn't the fight choreographer from Iron Fist on record saying Finn Jones didn't put in the time to practice the action scenes unlike Jessica who worked really hard on Colleen Wing character and fight choreography?

"Feature time travel...." John's sigh. I'm right there with you. Shang-Chi was best with grounded action and the family drama.

If they are bringing back finn jones as ( danny rand ) iron fist in shang Chi 2 i hope he redeme himself from that Netflix show i don't blame him i blame the writers and i hope they give him a comic accurate suit, Just give the man a second chance as iron fist.

Give Finn at least 6 months of martial arts training. He was awful in action scenes.

Never understood why John doesn't rate loki when it's quite possibly the best Disney plus show easily

I really enjoyed Colleen Wing &the brother and sister from Iron Fist but the show was not very good

Jessica Henwick was great in Iron Fist and was AN Iron Fist at the end of that show. Would love to see her play Iron Fist in the MCU. Also, I know a number of people who liked the show, especially by the end of S2 and Finn Jones & Mike Coulter, worked well together as Cage & Fist.

I was not fond of Netflix Iron Fist except Colleen Wing who was the highlight and the siblings Ward and Joy. But where Season 2 ended with Colleen as the White Iron Fist and Danny and Ward in Asia really had me curious to see where they were going with it. But I totally understand why they want a clean slate here.

Simu Liu has just said that this is all completely false in an IG post by Nextshark that reported the same thing about Shang Chi 2.

Honestly Iron Fist ended just when I thought it was getting its shit together. The ending for s2 looked so fun. I was excited for where it would go, and then it ended. Also, his dynamic with his "adoptive" brother Ward was great, and Ward was probably like the best part of the show. That dude brought all his acting chops for it. So when it left off with Ward and Danny leaving together, ah that promised such fun. And we got a sneak peek of it with the time jump for the final scene. And bam gone forever 😢 lol But yes the show was riddled with problems. And although it wasnt Finn's fault, i dont see him being back either.

Iron Fist had some really great casting, it was just poorly executed in terms of writing and fight choreography. I watched the Warrior tv series and wondered how much better Iron Fist could've been if they had hired true lovers and students of martial arts. Like Shang Chi.

Please give Fin Jones a second chance. That cast was delt a bad hand and maybe we can further solidify the legitimacy of the Netflix shows. I would LOVE to see him return with Mike Colter

I enjoyed Finn Jones in season 2! I thought he was especially good (best performance)in his brief cameo in Luke Cage!

What about the first Terminator and Terminator 2, both involved time travel in a way and was both great movies.

I enjoyed Season 2 of Iron Fist. Probably because they did have a new show runner for Season 2 instead of Scott Buck. There was also a new holder of the Iron Fist by the end of season 2. Doubt that will stick though.

I actually liked the Iron Fist show. Happy to hear Marvel may bring back that character and hopefully Colleen Wing.

Shang Chi is the only character from phase 4 and 5 that was actually half way decent and he's the one they haven't been trying to do anything with

The Iron Fist show was bad... really bad... but it wasn't Finn Jones' fault. It was that terrible showrunner Scott Buck who has a track record of tanking television shows with stupid decisions. Finn Jones has shown he's a good actor in other projects, he just needs to be directed well.

I would like Finn Jones to come back to redeem himself. Since Iron Fist wasn't his fault that it sucked.

Ironically I felt like the statement ‘there’s never been a problem time travel can’t fix’ just proposed an interesting idea Cretton could very well bring to time travel. Given that the name is likely ‘The Wreckage of Time’

As we are going towards the end of the multiverse saga it’s kinda expected that everything start to have a multiverse angle.

I mean GOTG3 had to deal with a Gamora from another time, essentially time travel and multiverse…

Another great movie involving time travel is, um, oh… Avengers: Endgame

Iron Fist was actually really good, but the main actor just didn't work. The side characters were mostly very good. And the way season 2 ended left me wanting more. Regardless what they do. a Shang Chi 2 is very welcome as the first was awesome (except for ending which should have been more personal than a screen filling CGO dragon that was too dark).

@@RevengeOfThaNerd don’t get me wrong it had some big problems. I liked the setting. I liked colleaen and ward who were both very very good. The first season was pretty bad. But the second was a lot better. Mary walker by Alice eve was great in it. And the iron fist ending up in collleaens possession was a genuine surprise. Plus the implied iron fist cowboy like plot the show ended in could have been great . The main actor was a disaster though. And it suffered from him not using the iron fist enough. Recasting him would be great but I do hope we get more Colleen and Ward in the future. Though I doubt it. Also while I liked it. It clearly was worse than Jessica jones and the other shows.

Iron Fist wasn't great, but in Luke Cage season 2 Finn Jones nailed the character. It was all the writing. Even if they use an Iron Fist from another universe or time, Finn and Mike Colter should return for a Heroes for Hire show, to bring Luke Cage back and redeem Finn and let him show he can truly be amazing as Danny Rand!

Finn Jones wasn’t awful. He probably wasn’t the right actor for the part, but that’s low down on the list of problems with Iron Fist

Kris is right. The showrunner of Season One, Scott Buck is to blame for how it went down. Which is why they replaced him in Season Two. Which I enjoyed better than first season. Also, I hope Finn Jones comes back. He’s not to blame for how poor the show went. I’ve always felt he needs a redemption like how Hayden Christensen got with Star Wars. Hope they do, if it’s another Iron Fist before him if time travel is involved, then I’m fine with that too

Shang Chi gets thrown back in time gives you the opportunity to bring back the Mandarin as well. And can introduce a new Iron Fist from the ancient past. Imagine he travels back to ancient Asia to face his father at the height of his power and teams up with an original Iron Fist...yeah sign me up for that.

I want to see Danny Rand redeemed and be badass like he is in the comics. Just because they ruined him on the Netflix show doesn’t mean they can’t do him justice if written better in the movies especially with a budget that will be more in line with what Iron Fist needs. I've been saying this since the movie ended. That Iron Fist should be reintroduced in Shang-Chi 2, and that the new world they fought the dragon in should be Kun'lun. Tho, it should've been a tournament or a war with the 5 Weapons. More multiverse and time travel shit is disappointing.

Marvel, as with most filmmakers, needs to stay away from time travel. It works once and awhile, but they're edging toward leaning too much on that crutch.

Here's hoping for the 'Mortal Kombat' spin and introduce Heavenly Cities - convinced Tao Lao is a Heavenly City. Iron Fist would make sense as the Weapon of his Heavenly City.

I’m all for this! I feel like enough time has passed for us to revisit Iron Fist. It sucks that the Netflix show did very little to make us like him as a character but I’m confident that Marvel learned from their mistakes

Well, obviously if they time travel it will be a different iron fist, since it is a title, not a name.

I know I’m in the minority but I thought Iron Fist was alright, it was definitely one of the weaker offerings of the Marvel Netflix shows but I thought it was just good enough, and I also thought Finn Jones was perfectly fine in the role, I definitely don’t see them bringing him back though, that show was hated by pretty much everyone who saw it and tons of people said they didn’t like him in the role either, and so logically there would be absolutely no reason as to why they’d wanna bring him back, if we do ever see Iron Fist again I can guarantee you it’ll be a new actor

I pers. didnt liked his acting too (on top of writing, directing .. of that show) and way too many ppl disliked him, so bringing him back for movie would mean starting with handicap and i dont think thats good idea. Plus there were plenty of Iron Fists over the years, with time travel you can have many past vers. of Iron Fist instead of Danny.

Then other people didn't like She Hulk because of the stupid way they wrote her and they didn't like Captain Marvel because they don't like Brie Larson and the stupid way they wrote the character. The thing they have going for them is that they have a larger preexisting fanbase than Iron Fist who even comic readers don't really care about when he's solo.

I would be surprised as well John, if they brought back the Netflix iteration of iron fist, but hey, they brought back the same actor who played Black Bolt in the inhuman show, and that was even worse so who’s to say?

While I agree that Finn Jones as Danny probably won't be the Iron Fist in Shang-Chi 2 (though I'd guess that he'll have some kind of cameo in a credits scene or whatever), I wouldn't doubt if we got him in Born Again in some capacity, even if it's just for an episode or 2. With them saying it sounds like the Eyes of Wakanda Iron Fist will be in this movie, from what I've been hearing the rumor is that it's that one pirate queen Iron Fist that was mentioned in the show at some point (I forget her name). It'll be exciting to see if that rumor is true and how they tie-in Iron Fist stuff into a Wakanda Show. Maybe it'll be multiple Iron Fists in Shang-Chi 2 or Eyes of Wakanda and she's the only one they currently have any certainty about. Whatever the case, I do think we'll see Jessica Henwick back as Colleen Wing sooner rather than later, continuing the story of her being the modern Iron Fist. I also agree with Kris, it would be awesome to see her and Misty Knight have a Daughters of the Dragon Series or Special or something, continuing their stories from Luke Cage Season 2 and Iron Fist Season 2.

Marv can also bring Orson Randal's Iron fist maybe by time travel bcz if the iron fist which will be appear in Shang chi is the one who will be appear in Eyes of Wakanda and eyes of wakanda will be set in past so they can show orson randal's iron fist.

For me the Iron Fist show is in the same boat with Disney plus She Hulk. The main character is not likeable and is better off with ensemble cast than a solo project.

I fully agree with what you said about the multiverse and time-travelling. I'm looking forwards all the projects outside of the Multiverse Saga. Shang-Chi 2 would be one of the most anticipated Marvel movie, but the time-travelling element worries me a bit, just as it does in Deadpool & Wolverine. I wouldn't mind having Danny Rand back.

Time travel could be as in Ms Marvel situation.. the rings are connected to the Bangles after all (in the MCU)

Finn Jones was also very good in Dickinson, with Hailee Steinfeld.

If they recast Iron Fist, I'm not watching it.

Iron fist as a show was ehh, but him in the defenders i thought was cool, iron fist and power man fighting together was dope. Just bad writing for the iron fist show

The show got better in season 2 (with the change of showrunner) and so did Finn Jones, to where I wouldn't mind seeing him back as long as he's not the main character. That being said, Jessica Henwick carried that show to the extent that it wasn't on the floor, and I'd much rather see her return.

It's probably an unpopular opinion, but I for one enjoyed season 2 of Iron Fist a lot. It's certaintly better than 90% of the MCU entries post Endgame.

To me No Way Home, Doctor Strange, Loki and What If were all great and Deadpool will likely be the same. I find it weird how much against the multiverse John is when he had a positive opinion on all multiverse entries and says DP3 is his most anticipated film of the year. Hard disagree on Luke Cage though. Watching season 2 was physically painful to me. I honestly don't know why I even finished it. Out of toxic obligation I guess.

I love time travel. Yep...love it. Does that mean it always works? Of course not. But then, nothing has a 100% success rate. I'm not sure exactly when it became almost vogue to shit on time travel (certainly, over a decade now), but it doesn't hold up to any scrutiny. "Action films are lazy. Impossible shootouts and explosions that miraculously allow the protagonists to remain unharmed". "Romantic comedies are as lazy as they come. With their falling in love, out of love, and back in love storytelling". Every genre has the potential to be lazy and bad. Fortunately, every genre also has the potential to be thought-provoking and great.

Bring back Finn Jones with a good script and good fight choreography and do a damn Heroes for Hire series with Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Shang Chi

Loved the first 2/3rds of Shang-Chi, but the last act was a straight up generic Marvel CGI fest.

Netflix Iron Fist course-corrected itself after episode 5. The show felt a lot better as well into season 2.

Odd, Spider-Man No Way Home, Dr Strange 2, and the 2 seasons of Loki have been the best things outside of Guardians 3 and Shang Chi, so its got nothing to do with the Multiverse Saga not being the right overall story. The one big complaint was Ant Man 3, but that barel touched upon the multiverse, so wasn't an actual multiverse story except for Kang being present and the post credit sequence. If anything it just shouldn't have started as soon as the beginning of Phase 4, OR all of Phase 4 should have been about the multiverse, because most of the complaints have been "theres no clear picture where this is all heading" so the split between all the new character introductions and the multiverse stuff I think has been the cause for concern.

It's probably Colleen Wing. As of the end of Iron Fist Season 2, she has the Iron Fist. Plus there have been rumors that it will be a female Iron Fist in the MCU going forward.

Definitely a big fan of Shang Chi, so any news about it makes me happy. And please God, re-cast Iron Fist.

Quite sure I read reports Jones refused/skipped most pre-production martial arts training (unlike the actors for Luke Cage and Jessica Jones) and by the time he got on set hardly did anything. So was the whole show his fault? No. But if those reports are to be believed the poor fight scenes are certainly his fault.

I liked the Iron Fist Netflix series and have been a fan of the comics since the 1970s. I also liked Finn Jones' portrayal as Danny Rand. I agree that he needed to improve his martial arts skill but I think the main impediment was the pace of shooting a tv show. There's only so many hours in the day to shoot a TV show, then eat and sleep, let alone additional MA training.

The only way time travel could work in a Shang-Chi movie is if they do something similar to The Forbidden Kingdom where maybe Shang-Chi and his friends travel to medieval China and that’s where this Iron Fist comes in who is an Iron Fist that only existed in the past. Otherwise, they should no do another multiverse film or Shang-Chi will feel out of his element. The biggest mistake they did with Quantumania was trying to make a science fiction film with Ant-Man and the Wasp but Ant-Man and the Wasp are not science fiction heroes so they were out of place in their own movie.

They'll probably follow the story arc from the Shang Chi comics, where they travel back in time to meet his father Wenwu, as he's helping China to defeat British Imperialist forces during the Opium Wars. It was kind of a redemption arc, that rather than being a generic Evil Terrorist Villain, Wenwu was actually a heroic rebel and a force for Good.

It’s been almost 3 years since Shang chi and he hasn’t appeared anywhere since then. I really don’t think people care about this character at this point.

If Danny Rand is a different character to Netflix we know that the Netflix shows arnt canon - you can’t pick and choose. You go all in or you stay out 😂 I mean for me I think Echo confirmed that Daredevil wasn’t canon otherwise we would have heard all about this little girl that Kingpin had practically adopted. Yeah I don’t believe it’s canon and I’m okay with that
