Lorne was quoted an article in the New Yorker that he’s still a fan of Shane’s and that he loved his special. Half the writing staff are comedy cellar regulars that respect him. I guarantee you that like Norm the decision to fire Shane came from a suit and not anyone involved with the creative direction of the show

Agreed, however they get a pass because the podcast is a heavy SNL centric podcast and obviousy theyre two of SNL's greats. A lot of their guests and topics revolve about the older days at SNL. Also their audience is a very different audience than the likes of all the big, younger comedians now, so it introdices a lot of newer faces to Shane and gives them a little background on him. It was definately repetitive old news for us, but I bet 80% of their viewers it was all new.

@portlandgoose4727 Hader was above avg for sure but I think he shined more because snl had/has sucked so God awful bad for 20years he was about the only thing keeping snl still categorized as a comedy show on cable tv & not changing their designation to dark drama series... at times it's been hard to tell the difference.. it's been so gd hard to watch & in the last 5 years even most bad yt skit shows with no budget are funnier than snl & the good ones are waay funnier

If you thought his lo-fi standup was edgy then you haven’t seen his sketches. He’s the best young comedian in the past decade, and at this point has made millions touring. SNL would have ruined him. His special reminded me of those old comedy albums with drinks clinking together and people coughing. You feel like you’re in the club with them. Even Netflix is just becoming hack.
