Iran didn't have nuclear weapon. Shah tried to build something with the help of french scientists (well it was just french scientists) . And the only reason they fear Iran having a nuclear weapon is it will kinda make it impossible or hard to attack. they want any countries who disagree with them be defense less (as long as they don't have the control of the army). I still remember them crying when iran was getting s 300 from Russia while it was just a tool to defend their country.
Despite sanctions Iranian have become a leading manufacturer of drones while our DRDO is still struggling.

Russians also got one American drone for reverse engineering.
The multi-billion dollar U.S. Patriot Missile system has a very hard time shooting these drones down. That's because the Patriot was designed to shoot down large, fast-moving, jet aircraft, not tiny drones. And being cheap to produce, all Iran has to do is to launch thousands of these drones to overwhelm U.S. tracking radar, rendering it useless. Then a hypersonic missile will come in and completely obliterate its target. This could be how they sink U.S. aircraft carriers.
