Next Star wars should do a movie of how they got the plans to the second death star called rogue two. Then at the end of the credits it says, "no Bothans were harmed in the making of this film."

Fun fact: the reason director Krenik lost a lot of his arrogance in the final version was because by the time they reshot that scene, he had misplaced his director 2X4, meaning he could no longer whack Vader across the head when he needed to:)

The fact that so much effort went into trying to capture the death star plans that showed an exploit in the design, elevates A New Hope. The bad guys weren't necessarily idiots and the good guys weren't just lucky. All from that one line in the movie that a lot of people died to get those plans. and honestly, I think that ending scene is pretty fucking awesome. and was just a last minute addition.

I was fully ready to just skip Andor completely after the disappointment of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan. I figured, if they couldn't make good shows out of two of the most recognisable characters in the whole saga, what hope for some low key show about some guy who... I honestly can't even remember much of what he does in Rogue One apart from die XD I watched the first episode on a chance, and although it was quite a slow burn, it had enough interesting aspects that I gave the next one a shot, too. I am happy to admit I was completely wrong. This is some of the best television I've watched in the last few years, and certainly ranks way above most Star Wars content. It really shows how much you can do with the Star Wars universe when you focus on the writing first. Not a laser sword in sight, and yet an incredible experience.

@@TheDelinear I feel the same. I gave up after episode 1 thought it was boring. Came back to it on finale and my god, it was just absolutely gripping stuff. The characters are all very fleshed out, it’s the first Star Wars media in maybe 30 years that has meaningfully expanded our understanding of what it means to live in the Star Wars universe. The sets are all practical which makes me never want to see that obvious LED back drop from Mando as it added so much to the immersion. I hope it gains traction as viewership was low. It’s such a shame this may become a hidden gem.

The coolest thing about Rogue One is that normal people who had depended on the jedi for years now were able to fight back a greater force with nothing more special than wits and determination. Hi Clint.
Andor was so dang good.
Misleading Trailer: Downsizing (I kinda liked the film, but that was NOT what was advertised! XD)
YES! What a great way to start the new year with a Sh!t Show! I fondly remember Rogue One as the Vader hallway short film where they decided to attach another 2 hours of bullshit footage and plot. 4:38 Holy shit Clont, save some ladies for the rest of us 🤣 4:58 Chopper also swears in the kids show if you listen closely to his sassy dialogue. Lol 5:56 Clant’s Star Wars stuff isn’t the only thing coming, if you know what I mean 😂 6:07 You got a show accurate Chopper. He’s sassy and does what he wants lol 7:55 You…nerd… 🤣 12:56 I bet he ragrets that decision… I know we all do… 13:49 Who invited the normie…? *Glares at Jenirae” 🤣 18:47 I’ve heard conflicting stories about the milk. You either like it or you don’t. Lol 24:33 I would like to see a movie about Storm Trooper recruits. It would remind me of my days in the Marines as a Lance Corporal. Probably wouldn’t be kid friendly. Lol 27:07 I think at this point, Uncle Frank doesn’t want people to know he’s married to that crone… lol 29:38 I would have preferred bald Forrest Whitaker instead of crazy cat lady hair Forrest. 34:31 Extremely disappointed you didn’t get his lisp down in your recreation, Clamp… 48:49 Jeez… The Chutzpah on this guy… 52:26 HAHAHAHAHA OH MY GOD 54:28 Well, guys. Can we go and retroactively sue Didney? WHERE IS THE TIE FIGHTER SCENE?? 😂 55:00 I’M STILL PISSED ABOUT HOW THAT TRAILER LIED TO ME… 1:07:46 Kathleen Kennedy cares about Star War? Press X to doubt… 1:09:24 Peter’s head was designed by… his mother? Lol Oh, man. Another great episode, guys! I’m sad that I’ve already caught up with the backlog. I just saw Gremlins for the first time ever last night, and I’m going to rewatch that Sh!t show episode. Lol
My first viewing of this movie was interrupted about 20 minutes in by an alarm in the theater. Everyone had to be evacuated and spend about an hour outside before being let back in to finish the movie where it left off. I don't know how many people there were able to re-engage with the movie once we came back, but I definitely couldn't. I didn't see the whole movie, uninterrupted, until it came out for rent however many months later. It was the weirdest experience I've ever had going to see a movie.
1:01:00 Love the Venkman reference
I like how cool the Vader hallway scene is but from the stand point of A New Hope it makes Leia look like a stupid liar because Vader literally saw the ship fly away
Chirrut Imwe is my favourite Star Wars character. I freaking love Donnie Yen.
Clint.... MY DUDE! Whipping out a Ghostbusters reference and not even explaining it. Friggin'. Awesome!!!! That and the "coke'd out trailer boys" should now be recurring characters for future episodes. What would they do with footage from whatever movies you do next?!?!? Amazing, guys. Thank you!!!
Edward’s does a solid enough job with other projects that I want to see the original version of this. I haven’t heard anything here that isn’t just conjecture.
I just can’t believe it came out in 2016 seems like yesterday came out. I’m getting old
Big movies seem to like putting a bit of misdirection in their trailers now but it kind of sucks when it's not intentional. I remember seeing the trailer for Reign of Fire and getting a way different impression of what the movie was gonna be. Turns out most of the scenes in the trailer had been cut by the time the movie released. Probably the worst (best?) example of that I've ever seen.
I first discovered Star Wars because my dad had the book club edition novelization on his bookshelf in late 1978. Knowing what I knew up until the time of Rogue One was in theaters, I had very little idea of how stealing the Death Star plans would have went down. I discovered the role playing game only in 1992 when the Thrawn Trilogy was out, and there are some drawings in the role playing game books that kind of give some hints to maybe some type of Rogue One type storyline but, while I have a love hate relationship with this movie, it was made when Disney Star Wars was still innocent in my opinion. The only reason why I can stand, The last Jedi, is because it's great fodder for people to make fun of! I will admit that I do appreciate the ideas brought forth by people who may not be Star Wars fans because I think that's true with every story being told but, but Disney really does seem to not care. It's as if Disney is hired a bunch of cranky teenagers to work at Lucasfilm... Who hate everything, just because it is old and smells like Bengay and mothballs to them.
Oh man I would pay money for a video version of this podcast. No visuals needed.
Take a look at David Giancola's documentary Addicted to Fame, about the production of Anna Nicole Smith's final film, Illegal Aliens.
I’ve listened to this again and again and I always forget to say that Murderers Row is an old baseball term used to describe the 1927 Yankees (I know I’m a baseball nerd). It has been used to describe any assembly of great talent since.

"Don't choke on your aspirations" is clever because aspiration also means breathing.
It wouldn't be Christmas at our house without Bea Arthur singing. Sadly, we could only find her doing the urkel dance. Just not the same.
The Courts recently made it law that companies can be sued if trailers show false advertising… I suppose it’s good that Rogue One came out in 2016
If you want to talk about a misleading trailer vs the film released, take a look at Highlander: Endgame. There were shots filmed specifically for the trailer that had absolutely NOTHING to do with the film, were in NO way whatsoever part of ANY screenplay, and were solely to deceive movie goers into thinking the movie was far more fantastical and FX filled than it was. One of THE worst cases of deliberate false advertising in a trailer in the history of film.
Getting tactile with those 80’s buttons in Rogue One.
Return of the Jedi was the superior movie of the first three because of character development and dialogue. The dialogue was so much improved from the first movie that A New Hope, in comparison, just sounds like a bunch of grunts somewhat resembling the English language with PEWPEWPEW noises intertwined. A New Hope and Empire felt like they were just making it up as they went along (the prequel trilogy is so convoluted BECAUSE of all the time they spent stitching up plotholes from the original three movies).
I would like to know what happened to Gareth Edwards. Guy directed a movie that made 1.5 Billion, and also Godzilla which made 529 Million and kicked off The Monsterverse, and yet he's disappeared. Around the time of Rogue One, it was said he was going to write and direct a Star Wars Trilogy separate to Rogue One and not featuring The Skywalkers, and that's been quietly forgotten. I wonder if he got Blacklisted because of his film-making approach.

@TheDelinear
Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. According to the lore, the Empire controlled over a million planets with 500 _quadrillion_ inhabitants, but everything has to tie into the actions of a dozen people over a handful of planets. We don't need an on screen explanation for why people weren't in the original trilogy when the rebellion was likely striking at targets across tens/hundreds of thousands of worlds. Andor does this much better, but even there the idea that this huge Imperial machine is managed by a room of like 12 people, or that a rebellion large enough to make even a tiny dent in that machine can be funded by stealing one shipment of credits is a bit silly. I get why this is. It's easier to describe the size of a system like this in text than it is to convey it on screen, and in a movie or TV show you generally want to focus on a hero's journey. One thing Andor did really well is refocus the story on the idea of the people as a whole rising up against oppression, even if there were a handful of actors pulling the strings to make that happen.
"Murders row" is not a reference to people who kill. It's a nickname for the 1927 Yankees lineup, which was very good. They "murdered" opposing pitchers. So saying "a murders row" is calling a group of people very talented.

glad you notice how adding an E to the word shit gives it such a fresh impact that has been lost with overuse. shitE has fresh impact and shock value. it is a good example of America and the UK being 2 nations seperated by one language. the evolution of swearing on tv and movies is fascinating. Shit has been used so much [e.g. Bullshit, dogshit, shit talk] that it has lost its shock value. put an E at the end and it is immediately jarring. "you are talking SH*TE" is one of Britain's [NOT England's] greatest contributions. - say it with a Glasgow accent and its power increases exponentially. it is like the first time you watch Kickass and hear a tiny 12 year old girl say "Okay you cnts let's see what you can do" - and you are like WOW! did she just say that? Think of the Critical Drinker's movie reviews. and he uses various shot of Karen Dunbar from the unmatched Scottish TV show "Chewin' the Fat" saying "Ah yes I smell shite" to pour scorn on garbage plot holes. btw. watch the Star Trek spoof sketch called "Taysiders in space" and you will be hooked. follow that up with the brilliant Star Trek audition by the wonderfully terrible Ronald Villiers which is some of the best of recent Scottish humour. Ford Kiernan has given us one of the funniest, most beloved characters of all time and I cannnot urge you enough to discover this goldmine of Scottish irreverence.
