Sh*t Show Podcast: Batman Forever (1995) LIVE!
Фильм және анимация
Making Batman sell Happy Meals is hard. Join us for our first live show (via Utah Remote-Con, with moderator Steph Lisman from Cutscenes & Cupcakes), as we talk about how difficult it was to make Batman Forever, from the backlash against the overly kinky Batman Returns to the egotistical actor troubles of Val Kilmer and Tommy Lee Jones.

I remember hearing somewhere that Tommy Lee Jones didn't know anything about the character, but his kid was into comics so he signed on to the project to impress his kid.

Absolutely true.
I was looking at your Batman Reboot video, had to stop it when you referred to this one and go through it first. I loved the Tim Burton Batman films and I was old enough that I already had a thing for Michelle Pfeiffer *before* the catsuit. That was just the icing on the cake. Joel Schumacher took things in a different direction, it was (to me at least) a nod more to the 60s Batman. I still have Arkham Asylum, Digital Justice and The Dark Knight Returns as being my favourites but there was no way they were going to be allowed to make those at the time. Batman Forever was *FAR* more sexualised, there were nods to Catwoman in the Chase Meridian dialogue (the "Or do I need skin-tight vinyl and a whip?" line), the bat nipples, the Riddler's skin-tight outfit and Two Face in the bifurcated suit, both a sexual and power appearance. Much more so than anything Tim Burton did, the sexualised aspect there was almost an afterthought. I would actually have loved to see Robin Williams working with Tim Burton, Williams going ham but letting his darker side out and Burton just giving him the stage to play on.
25 years since Batman Forever a year ago? Holly #&@!!!!! I saw this in the drive thru. Miss those 😢

The drive thru gave you a sneak peek though, with those wonderful happy meal toys.
I love that people used to write angry letters. Would make for a potential sh*tshow? Movies that sparked pre-Twitter outrage and changes that were made to accomodate them? Sure you’ve already got a tonne of ideas, but I have now watched all 43 of these videos and I need more!
Love this live version more than the usual format which are already great (more of these BUT with pictures)

Will do!
I loved this movie as a kid
I would have bought many Happy Meals if they contained Falling Down toys. Another potential cash cow remaining unmilked. 😿
Robin Williams didn't work with WB for all those years because they used him in the promos for the Aladin movie against his wishes.
I want a whole episode just on Val Kilmers crazy nonsense. Would be awesome.
Trying to speedrun super Mario 64 and like every other Cliff joke makes me bust out laughing and die lol
That Robin Williams as the Joker news is awful. WB is the devil...
Batman ‘89 was not the highest grossing movie of all time at anytime. It had the biggest opening weekend of all time when it came out, and held that record until Batman Returns came out, maybe that is what you meant. Crazily enough, the opening weekend record was broken 3 times within about 1 month in 1989, Ghostbusters II, Last Crusade, then Batman.
45:45 ah yes purple and green the on average darkest colors, so bright and flashy They are/were flashy and bright, but it's not based on the colors
I didn't mind it at the time but the Christopher Reeve first two films and think it was better
Robin Williams should have played the Penguin.
I was 14 when this movie came out, and what made this movie even worse for me is that you had Batman: The Animated Series on at the same time and that show was nailing Riddler and Two Face perfectly.
Re Batman 66: King Tut got an origin. But pretty sure that’s it!
Val Kilmer was the star of Top Gun?

This movie is bad but B&R is one of the worst movies ever made.
