Severely Overloaded Dump Trailer

All was going smooth until the sencond hauling job of the day. My trailer got loaded with almost 6 tons of gravel! It's max capacity is 2.5 tons. Since it wouldnt dump that much weight I had to hand shovel the excess out. This wasn't fun, but we still got our jobs finished!

The easiest way I found in a case like that, is to open up your gate, back up real fast and slam on the brakes to get enough off to wear your dump will raise enough to dump the rest,oh and get you an battery powered leaf blower, they work great for cleaning off trailer

That’s a good idea if it works. Yes, I have one now. It’s very handy.

That loader driver at the quarry needs to be a little more considerate of your trailer. He needs to square up with trailer so he’s not dumping gravel on your fenders etc.

You are very lucky you didnt bend an axle let alone blow a tire. I started with a 14k trailer and upgraded to a 24k trailer just to be sure that I couldnt overload it and I dont do it as a business. You really need to upgrade if you want to avoid a big problem in the future.

I am sure I would have it I had taken it on the highway. This trailer will do enough to get me started. Maybe in a year or two I will be ready to upgrade. I would love to get a roll off dumpster trailer or truck.

I usually charge after 2 or 3 days of continuous use. It will probably do 15-20 or so dumps in a charge. Less in the winter.
