I got a 16k southland dump trailer and have had 0 issues with it and the aluminum ramps make loading and unloading so much easier than the steel ramps

I Think it is fun to see what you can doo in USA/Canada. in Denmark a pickup/car with a trailer is only allowed too max way 7000 kg so we can max load what you way empty PS. love the trailer

I just bought a Southland equipment trailer and super happy with it when I buy a dump trailer it was definitely be a Southland

Put some 304 gravel on it not golf ball size round gravel and see what it does. The round stuff rolls out pretty easy. It is a good looking set up. It would work good for every day jobs.

i have a southland SL714-14k its been a good trailer for the money, iv got some minor gripes and things i think could be improved upon but i think its a high value trailer. its never not dumped a load that iv put in it. some of the heavier ones weren't scaled so i couldn't tell you how much weight is the most its dumped.

Thanks for the educational video on why you shouldn't over load your trailer and they are built and rated.

Continuous improvement works best when folks don’t have to care who is getting the credit. When everyone is rewarded for increased productivity, businesses flourish.

Stan, FYI, as far as any digital truck scale I've ever used you should be able to have the scaler set it to lb or alternate back and forth with just a push of a button if you need. If it's an unmanned scale just push k/lb button

Reminds me of caterpillar we could eat off our floor they were washed every day and we kept oil grease etc spills cleaned up everything has a place

Love a good dump trailer. Wish they would move the pivot point to the very end so that the tail did not drag and so a bigger pile could be dumped and not strung out. I get that would mean a stronger and more expensive hoist. They are counting on the cantilever to help it dump but then it drags unless you are on very solid and level base. How often does that happen on a construction site? I don't use mine to haul equipment so I would be fine with a higher deck height to get it to dump more like a dump truck. I know you can make it happen Stan.

It’s called a deck over. Almost every brand makes them

I haven’t seen it yet, but a top swing tailgate option for a dump trailer. I would like one for tailgate spreading gravel on a driveway/private road. It would also have to have a swing option obviously so you can load equipment or pallets in the back.

my loadtrail dump is like this, i can chain it and tailgate the material. the only problem is i need a second person to drive ahead while dumping because my controller doesn't reach the cab

that pump was on relief valve before you cut the lifting clip and came back at different angle look at the pile behind the trailer while you were videoing beginning of lift to when your angle changed looks like a lie 5:16 to 5:21 you got in the truck and moved it 8 ft forward mys well had the loader under front corner to help you out and did it without a vid cut and shoveling off a ton or to and move truck

The pile was from when they opened the tailgate. The trailer dumped it all by itself.

Bought this exact same trailer brand new and it will not dump 19,820 lbs let alone the rated 20,500. Manufacturer says I'm on my own because I bought it new at auction. Then said they wouldn't warranty the pump anyway because that would be up to Lippert the pump Manufacturer. So either this is a faulty trailer or they turned up the pump on the dump in this video. My load was centered in the trailer, sure could have been a few inches back but this is how they load them with big Kamatsu loaders. No way in hell one of these will dump 27,000lbs like in the video. Funny my other comment showed up then disappeared.

I have a sl714 a couple years now and the thinner box gets beat up pretty bad hauling concrete but it tows better than any other trailer I've ever pulled and dumps anything that will fit great trailer for the cost

They dont have any dealers in midwest so its a moot point. 1000s of trailers from other oems r sitting on lots with heavy discounts. Its a freaking dump trailer. Buy one and get to work!

There's a lot of guys out there that will save these guys are anal . But here's the thing they have everything labeled and everything goes back where it is labeled. So a brand new guy if he can read he'll know where he can find his helmet his hammer whatever and at the end of the day if the new guy can read he knows where to put his hammer his helmet or whatever. Organization cuts out frustration with yourself with your coworkers being organized remove heated debates and keeps everyone calm and happy you have a good working environment and you get to go home with a good attitude 97.5% percent of the time organisation helps you keep your sanity and since the world's going crazy we need our self sanity 👍👍👍👍👍

So that trailer has a 2 12k axles in it just using a single 17.5 tire rim instead of a dual wheel ? If so were they using a standard 215 17.5 tire or a 225 or 245 17.5 I’m very curious in my line of work I have 215’s on my trailer and with my 16-17k cat d3b dozer they squat like ur saying with 26k in that trailer

I might be seeing things but it looks like there's a decent pile behind the trailer before it starts dumping. I understand some came out while opening the doors but it looks like more then that, but maybe I'm wrong.

I worked in a 6S Shop, the philosophy was the same as in the Southland shop except ours was a complete nightmare because the only "good" ideas came from the GM or the Supervisors and every shift had the best "idea" and just worked against each other. Just a complete circle jerk joke

The trailer is well worth the money. Too bad they used a garbage GM to move it around.

Do you need another driving license to drive with that much weight? 7tonnes in uk is max for a van and trailer fully loaded. So to move over that we need to get additional driving licenses and they vary for weight classes.

In alberta with a regular class 5 (European B) licence you can haul a 4600kg. So 10120 pounds. I lived in Europe for a while and it's unbelievable what a hassle it is every time you want to haul something heavy like a classic car. Can't even rent a trailer here since you're only allowed 750kg and most cars won't haul more than 2tons anyway.

That trailer has such a horrible dump angle probably 30° doubt even 35° good luck dumping out any damp loam or anything sticky and they did that because they opted for a cheaper small piston and have it mounted way to far forward to gain extra lift out of it they should of just mounted a bigger scissor hoist and would have the dump angle of 40 45° atleast

I believe they didn't want to push the dump angle to its limit, especially with a newer truck, to avoid potential damage to the frame. When I dump heavy loads, I follow a similar approach, ensuring I don't drag the rear while pulling away. @johnny4713ify so what would you do with loam then that has to be on a steeper angle than stone lol doesn't seem ideal and paving trucks are set up for 50° like we have but most dumps are 45 to 40 to dump loam and wet loads out they trailer needs less over hang and bigger hoist and move it back yeah they say 15 ton hoist or whatever but the manufacturer of the hoist if you ever installed one tells you where you mount it the capacity and angle and on a normal truck with electric that's about a 8 ton hoist just moved far forward to gain the extra weight capacity

@@mikethorntonr1 Most of us have managed to unload an overloaded load successfully. Ideally, scheduling from a dry yard is preferable, depending on your location. In Southern California, where I reside, dealing with construction material and desert landscaping is common. The loam here tends to be mostly dry. I currently use a 12-foot Big Tex trailer, as a 14-foot one would incur commercial rates at my local landfill. Considering the weight and fuel costs in SC, I'm exploring smaller Southland dump trailers for weight/load fuel savings. Besides, I don't think people will be crazy maxing out their trailers daily, but it's good to know this particular model can handle it if needed.

Why do end dumps have one piston at the front then

It dumped but that hydraulic pump was not happy.

Stan that trailer may have a big capacity if you ever filled it with heavy materials it would have 50 thousand pounds in it and there are people out there that would do it

That's why there's common sense. A lot of loads are light and fluffy. Brush, trash whatever. When hauling gravel ,concrete you need to pay attention.

My dads big tex 14k rated dump trailer will not dump 12k I have had 16k in it of gravel and had to shovel out a lot by hand befor it would dump

The company I worked for back in the early 2000s implemented Kaizon way of manufacturing. It was great at first, color coded tools, place for everything, efficiency etc etc. What sucked was the later firing of workers who were no longer needed. Then the top paid workers because the Japanese Kaizon system doesnt support higher paid trained employees. Kaizon was really designed to eliminate employees and make the American worker work harder and do more. American company owners and investors want the same efficiency of the Japanese plants but with the American company profits. Dont promote this crap. This is the reason a quit and started my landscape company full-time.

What you describe doesn't fit with the KAI-ZEN (change good) methodology I know from scrum/agile. It seems like the name got misused to cut the workforce, when it should be about continuous improvements.

yea need a 100yrd spot to dump a load of rock instead of just using a tandem and dump in a small spot. dump trailers are a fucking joke
