I believe outie Irving is a psychiatrist for Lumen or something.. Devon says to Mark something along the lines of are you still seeing the psychiatrist guy with the funny little mustache... this has to be Irving. I theorize outtie Irving isn't the guy most viewers have assumed him to be. He has everyone's address perhaps because he does some type of house call sessions with certain Lumen employees, not because he's trying to expose Lumen. I realize the question is, when would he have the time (the simple answer, we're missing a lot of pieces to the puzzle at this point, so who knows.... at the very least he has weekends and evenings off, but something tells me that there's more too it then that. Also when Mrs. Casey is doing a Wellness session with Irving she says your outie is friendly with the insane,,, I think this is because he's a psychiatrist. Perhaps it was this psychiatrist that Mark was seeing who talked him into Lumen... Mark said he stopped seeing him because everything's going well at work?

Thanks for the thorough recap.😊 One correction, Mrs Selvig/Cobell 😅 posed as the lactation specialist for Mark’s sister rather than the babysitter. It seems she has some kind of medical background which tracks with the Lumen corporate history. Irving also seems to have a medical background based on his comments and reactions during the season. Can’t wait for the second season!

I knew I liked Mark's sister the minute she said that was Mark's to tell and not Ricken's.

Lots of questions here. Did she actually die and they brought her back through severance and can only be alive on the Severed Access Floor? Where do they store the "people live here" folk? I imagine they just turn her off and shelve her. Lots to think about can't wait for season 2

@@sceneinvaders maybe her severance caused the accident (like she was awoken whilst driving and crashed) and now she can only exist as an innie due to brain damage.

I know you're excited about this show but there's no way that the first season is going to start with some sort of resolution. Most likely they'll figure out a way to pull it all back down to a regular so I can stretch it out to a season 3 😩

lovely video essay. I just loved this series and was gutted when the season finale concluded and I realized with horror that season 2 wasn't out yet. One little critique of such a small point in the essay. Apple as a company, for it being such a monolith at this point, is actually a really nice company to work for. Tons of amenities. Unlimited time off. Remote work capabilities. I have a couple friends that work there and they're very accommodating of work/life balance, juggling kids, your mental and physical health. They pay well and reward handsomely. One of the funniest things about watching this show is understanding the rat race and drag a lot of corporate/office work is for some people. It is literal hell for some, evoking this feeling of wasting away. But for someone like me that has ADHD, being able to contrast that with this personal experience that structure is actually healthier for my unfocused or hyperfocused mind. When i worked from home i couldn't turn off my hyperfocus and would just keep working will 2am... 4am...Having a work place I have to go to and then subsequently leave at the end of the day keeps my time divided and allows me to truly rest on my off time. Putting structures in my place like office hours/location, having a dog that needs to be fed and walked at specific times creates healthier daily routines for me. Neurodivergency is weird man.
