It IS a nice space and is so funny how all 3 of my critters love to be with me wherever I'm working. Cats are generally independent little things but both of them then to want to hang out in the same room as me! And Bentley (the dog) is quite attached to me so whether you see him or not, he's always there!

WOW Margaret that's a job. You are fortunate to have a large craft room. 30 years ago I had a carpenter to build my table with drawers on each side. Then tall cabinets on each side of table with adjustable shelving. Also have metal pegs for the holes. My room is 10 x 10. With 2 solid walls to work with. If I move, I'm disassembling those cabinets and taking with us. LOL. Have a friend in Harper, Tx which has a 1000 sq ft craft room.Only crafters understand. You'll eventually get it all organized. Appreciate you giving a review on the unit, because it's very informative for others.👏🏼 I enjoyed seeing how you're putting your room together.👍🏼 Great video. Pace yourself. Take care🙏🏼🙅🏽‍♀️

Thanks Margaret for sharing the process with us, like you I enjoy seeing craft room videos. Mine has been in many different spaces through the years and each space required different needs. I'm lucky to have a decent size room for it now, I have some cabinets I've bought just for my crafts ( tall white four door cabinets with adjustable shelving, one wall of those) and others are up-cycled pieces, (vanity cabinets turned back to back, adjusted and made into a 4x8 island) some found thrifting, (tall filing cabinets-free from Hubby's work where I store all paper craft items and patterns), everything painted white for a more cohesive look. I do many different crafts and try to store those items together (same cabinet). It does take a long time to set it all up, regardless of the cabinets used, I spent a month the last time I did mine, figuring it all out and fine tuning it. I wish you a speedier process!

Your set up sounds wonderful! Tucker said he'd paint my black furniture white but now that the golf course is open again, I'm not sure that's going to happen. Ha! I certainly can't be bothered doing it just now. As far as set up and organization goes... my space never stays the same. I'm always tweaking it!

I am so glad you shared this. I am so encouraged by the video. I have so much "stuff" stored in my guest room. I am wading through and sorting it all into donate, throw away, gift away or repurpose categories. It seems it is taking FOREVER, but as long as I make some progress each day, it is okay. In the meantime, I sit at my little dining room table and spend a bit of time making cards, doing some mixed media project or art journaling just to maintain some sanity. Looking forward to seeing your completed creative space. Love the way your kitty helps keep the papers organized LOL . Blessings

I think that's to be expected on this type of furniture. I was expecting exceptional customer service but it IS adequate in that regard. Oh Margaret! What an exciting time for you! Yes it’s a lot of work, but wow. That’s an incredible space, and you’re making great progress! Now you know, of everything you shared, what I was most excited to see? The crates on the closet shelf!! Inspiration! I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with all my shoes and handbags. I had a handbag designing business for 15 years and I’ve been struggling with how to store everything in my double closets. Eureka!! I have crates, so a quick cleanup (they’re in the buggy basement) and up they go. Now I can’t wait to see your next video. Waiting to hear what they say about your table leg. At that price they should definitely take care of it!

  • @sheepishlysharing

That's EXACTLY why I love these types of videos, Sallee! We can all learn so much from each other! I've used crate for years in all sorts of configurations so I happen to have a lot but if you have only 4, you can grab some plywood boards and create more shelves on that upper shelf! We have that set up in our Harry Potter closet (aka "the cupboard under the stairs.")

Of course, people who don't like my accent, or my hair or the lighting or my pronunciation of a particular word or even those who don't have a craft room at all and wish they did, angry people, hurt people or people who think I remind them of someone they don't like will also click the thumbs down button! It's definitely perfect for sewing AND for people like me who have a combo of crafts but I could also see this for woodworkers and homeschoolers and who knows what else! And yes, as Emma said, there's a knit wear designer who has it set up very efficiently for her business!

Hi from David Lowe in Ringwood, England, UK... t is very refreshing to see an instructional review which is candid and honest! I am enjoying your insights, trials and the tribulations in creating your enviable craft room. Also love to see your pets exploring and enjoying their environment. I was initially shocked at the $3k cost of the Dream Box but having built a variety of shelving/storage units for my own hobbies, and appreciating the build hours, it is not so shocking. The shelf fixing system seems to be re-inventing the wheel when there are well established inexpensive and robust systems available. I was very disappointed to note the badly fitting narrowing shelves: there is no excuse for supplying such a badly machined assembly. The leg attachment was also very badly designed: and bound to fail at some point in use. The actual layout and overall layout of the unit is impressive and well thought out, and, being fitted with those strong castors is very manoeuvrable: a key feature I think. I wish you happy crafting and a bright future in you video channel. A real joy to watch and listen to your delightful accent. Stay Safe and Well. Kind regards, David Lowe.

I love the size of that room and all the natural light. The cabinet is a great idea but over priced for pressed board. If you want to try to repair the leg of the table fill the holes with some wood glue and let it dry for about 6 hours. then you can try to put the screws back in but you may need to predrill them first. Not a great fix but maybe a temporary one. Don't stop reaching out to the company until you get a response. Can't wait to see the room finished. It would be a dream come true for me if I had a room that size to sew and craft in. Many blessings

Thanks for the daily progress report-great video! The Dream Box looks fantastic, an organizers dream. Totally agree with the furniture sliders-worth their weight in gold! The light in that room is wonderful. I, personally, would put the embroidery machine in the Dream Box and use my sewing table for my sewing machine ..just to have more room around it for making curtains, drapes and such. I thought you had a serger, too. Love my Serger. As you get to work with it, I am sure you will change things around. I like a "U" setup with an ironing pad to my right so I don't have to get up and down so much, and serger to my left. So very happy for you..it is really coming together. For the price, I want the guy to set it up IN my house and bring lunch. Back to making masks ..seems like it will never end... but of course it will.

I do have great light in that room... not much of a view but the light is more important in this case! I tried sitting and ironing at one time in my life and I can't do it! Every height setting I tried was very awkward for me. Besides, while getting up and down doesn't really qualify as a workout, I count it as exercise. Hahahah! I do have a serger - it was on the embroidery table and the embroidery machine was in still in it's box.

@@sheepishlysharing I can fix legs. Hubby is woodworker. Get sawdust and mix it with wood glue until like peanut butter. Put it in holes and rescrew. Leave legs down and put weight on it (books) and let dry for 2 or 3 days. You can get sawdust at lumberyard. Hope this helps. Often happens with particle board. I leave addi up and if I have a busy day I crank a few rows when I can. Satisfying to say I did a hat no matter how busy life gets. Enjoy new space.

I love the idea behind the storage box, For the cost I think you could have had something custom built. Even IKEA could have helped you design storage and if need be let Thomas take a crack at putting it together. Sorry but for the cost it doesn't seem like a quality piece.

I respectfully disagree. I just built a house with custom cabinetry through it (actually, this is my 3rd house I've built) so I know what it costs! (Ouch!) And essentially, this unit IS what I would have wanted plus you can't move built-ins around the room. I looked at IKEA options and to get something like this would have put me right around that range AND I would have had to put it together! (Note that IKEA's version of those clear trays are $9 each = $306 alone!) I'm going to talk more about it in coming videos but ultimately, value is different for everyone. It may not be right for you and I certainly could have survived without it but I have to say, I don't regret my purchase.
