Session 10 - The Place of History

Writer, philosopher, and Pierre native Joseph Bottum provides his thoughts on how a sense of place is necessary for understanding history.
Joseph Bottum is the author of the sociological study An Anxious Age and the childhood memoir The Christmas Plains, along with over a thousand other written works in journals from the Atlantic to the Wall Street Journal. He is currently the director of the Classics Institute at Dakota State University and poetry editor of the New York Sun, he is a native of South Dakota, living in Hot Springs, SD. His most recent book is called Spending the Winter, this is his fourth collection of poetry.

    Glad I came across this video. Joseph is a prolific and accomplished South Dakota native an I appreciate his voice/POV. I need to become more familiar with his writing.
