Thank you for a teriffic servicing video. I have just serviced my Slammer 4 after watching this and it helped immensely.

I have been servicing reels professionally for a long time. The video is great in assisting reel owners to be able to give their reel some TLC in the event it went swimming or just to look after it. Two things I'd change here.. 1. ALWAYS remove all those bearings from their recesses, that is the first point of ingress and factory lube job is piss poor at best. Once the salt gets to work between the stainless bearing and aluminum body you get galvanic corrosion and getting those bearings out, especially the Pinion Assembly can be a major issue. I always pull all bearings and grease the recesses. 2. No issue with generous grease application but I always remove old grease even if new from factory. I would also not use different grease/lube products as the cross contamination could cause the lubricants to be less effective through breakdown of key composition/formula. Got yourself a new sub as I enjoy all content around these topics. Keep up the great work.

I need my penn slammer 4 serviced!

Great video. I didn't realise my Penn Slammer IV had so many parts 😞 The main gear on my reel sounds like it does not have enough grease - there is a sort of dry metal on metal sound. I would like to just remove the side plate from the body and apply some blue grease to the main gear and other cogs. When removing the side plate of the body, what type/size of screwdriver is required ? Is it a Philips or flat head ? Thanks.

Hello, thanks for the video!!! I follow your videos which had help me a lot!. One question, I saw the Spool Click Plate with a little dent in the tip. (26:45) My Slammer 4 8500 has the same and I was wondering if that is normal or is damaged?. Thanks

Better idea, pay $25 to have it serviced. I never had a reel that needed servicing in 60 years of hard fishing almost daily. Rinse off and a squirt of wd40 all my reels ever need

You ain’t wrong. Stopping any corrosion (via WD40) is 90% of the battle. I have kept reels alive indefinitely with WD40, but a deep clean makes them run better if ran real hard for a long time.

I love the penn slammer 4 but the only things i dislike is that the line roller bearing isn't sealed 😅. I have 2 4500hs and I've replaced it once before but just curious if you know of any better replacement bearing for it. Great video Keep them coming 👍🏻

Those should be for adjusting the lay of your line on the spool. The instructions in the box should explain those and whether you need them. Your line lay should be evenly distributed. More line up top and you need to add the washer to your main shaft under the spool. Too much line on the bottom of the spool, you need to remove the factory washer and add the spare only. Honestly, I’ve never used them.

What is the number of the Penn Pursuit 5000 anti-reverse?

Is the authority supposed to have that little plastic bushing in the pinion I took mine apart and didn't see one

Yes it should be there. Could’ve been missed at the factory.
