    Thank you this was useful... In stockinette stitch You may knit the first stitch and slip the last stitch purlwise ( right side).. Purl the first stitch and slip the last purlwise ( wrong side) 😇.

    Are stitches added for the slip stitches? For instance if i’m making a blanket with 10 stitches on each side, do I add an extra stitch to each side?

  • @GZDesigns

    @GZDesigns

    Yes, you usually add an extra stitch to each side.

    I prefer Option One because I find it easier and neater to slip the first stitch on a row knitwise, rather than purlwise.

    So: a knit edge, a purl edge, or an e-knit (twisted knit) edge?

    will it work for stockinette?

  • @emmy_dreams83

    Yep! I've just finished trying all 3 options and I prefer the 2nd option but go by what you prefer and feels comfortable to you, just when you turn your work do the opposite ( so as if ur about knit the first stitch just put it on your needle, then continue to purl the rest of the way till you turn your work again) Hope this helps! :]

    Are these good for invisible seaming later?

  • @GZDesigns

    @GZDesigns

    2 жыл бұрын

    No, these are more decorative edges. I believe you can better seams if you don't slip stitches for edges.

    @@GZDesigns Thanks! I rewatched it and realized I got it wrong 😅 I’m doing option 1 but I was knitting the first stitch instead of slipping it. I’ll redo it.

    @@janhenderson2521 The selvage or selvedge is the end of woven fabric that is finished in a way that keeps the fabric from unraveling. Selvage is the American spelling of the word, and selvedge is the British spelling. So…both correct.
