Hi! Thank you for visiting my channel. I am a passionate knitter/crocheter and pattern designer. Does the weight of the scrap yarn and the main yarn have to be the same?
I prefer the same weight or thinner
@@GZDesigns Thanks!
❤❤❤🇦🇷
🙌😘
this was so helpful!!! i dont have a crochet hook rn but i need a provisional cast on 😂
Thank you for commenting. Glad you found this video helpful ☺️
So the scrap yarn will be taken off at a point?
@@evabazan1966 yes, when you're about to graft (seam) your piece. But you can also use this cast on when you need a very long tail. You then use two separate strands of the same yarn.
@@evabazan1966 Yes, that's the idea. You take it out leaving live stitches from your cast on to be grafted together with the stitches of your last row for a seamless looking join.
Oh well, what a nice coincidence: since many days I make knit tiles for a blanket using same processing ! Have a good job !! 😊😊😊
Than you! Good luck with your blanket 🤗
Love them. Thank you.
So glad!
Very nice ❤❤❤
Thanks 🤗
So,beautiful ❤❤
Thank you! 😊
So,beautiful
Thank you so much
Bonitos bonitos!!!!
This is a very tidy looking buttonhole and I like not having to break the yarn like you have to do with a vertical buttonhole. Thank you for the clear demonstration.
Thank you for commenting 🤗. I'm glad you like my video.
Very beautiful design
Thank you 😊

My go to is the first one
شكرا ولكن ماذا تسمى هذه الغرزه في الكوروشيه
Thank you. Very helpful
So glad!
Do you add 2 extra stitches for the edges?
Yes, you do
@@GZDesigns Thanks! I rewatched it and realized I got it wrong 😅 I’m doing option 1 but I was knitting the first stitch instead of slipping it. I’ll redo it.
❤❤
So: a knit edge, a purl edge, or an e-knit (twisted knit) edge?
Thank you!
Thankyou fantastic edges best I have used
Wonderful video....... as no ‘waffle’. Just straight to the point, and so easy to follow. Thank you!
Option 1: 0:06 Option 2: 1:00 Option 3: 2:14
Are these good for invisible seaming later?
No, these are more decorative edges. I believe you can better seams if you don't slip stitches for edges.
@@GZDesigns thanks!
I have been looking for a tutorial on this for a week. Thank you!!
Are stitches added for the slip stitches? For instance if i’m making a blanket with 10 stitches on each side, do I add an extra stitch to each side?
Yes, you usually add an extra stitch to each side.
I prefer Option One because I find it easier and neater to slip the first stitch on a row knitwise, rather than purlwise.
I’m a seasoned knitter but never knew these methods. The joy of now having clean edges!!!!. Thank you and good luck with your work. Bríd
A lovely video thank you
This is the best video for selvage edges
Thi Brody thanks!
Amazing, straight to the point and just what I needed. Thank you!
hello, thanks for this tutorial, would love to know whether this method can be used on sewing up toys? thank you 💖
will it work for stockinette?
Yep! I've just finished trying all 3 options and I prefer the 2nd option but go by what you prefer and feels comfortable to you, just when you turn your work do the opposite ( so as if ur about knit the first stitch just put it on your needle, then continue to purl the rest of the way till you turn your work again) Hope this helps! :]
Thanks so much for these tips, I'm new to knitting and the edges are making me crazy ... I now am going to take out a large piece I'm making eeeeek so I can have these neater edges ;) thanks again!!
Thank you this was useful... In stockinette stitch You may knit the first stitch and slip the last stitch purlwise ( right side).. Purl the first stitch and slip the last purlwise ( wrong side) 😇.
The colour of the background and your text are similar hence not readable comfortably. Kindly make the necessary changes.
joan66joshua hi! This video is the first one I ever made and the text is “hard coded” so I cannot make any changes to it. Sorry.
Brilliant! I am not getting any audio though.
0:51 me too
Damn - nice knitting. Super clean. 😻
Holly Lanagan thanks!
Awesome! This is going to make sewing my sweater seams so much easier! You are a blessing!
Thank you for commenting. Glad to help.
Glad to see a European style knitter!
SELVEDGE meaning self edge. Not SELVAGE.
An interesting point.
GZ Designs it’s not a point. Just correct spelling.
@@janhenderson2521 The selvage or selvedge is the end of woven fabric that is finished in a way that keeps the fabric from unraveling. Selvage is the American spelling of the word, and selvedge is the British spelling. So…both correct.
Excellent demonstration. Thank you.
SuperBellezza1 my pleasure. thank you for commenting!
You do the change on the opposite or facing side towards you always. For garter stitch? It looks so much cleaner. Do you add tension tighter on any stitch in particular? Great video thank you.
Trudy Schwartz-Burrill thank you. The tension stays the same for al stitches.
