Practically the only woman-villain from superhero/villain comic books with the capability to be a powerhouse against a whole team of superpowered individuals, and WITHOUT needing to be possessed by some other force hijacking her consciousness, and she's sooooo underutilized! I want her to be the villain after the next X-Men movie.

Probably has something to do with what made those bigwigs behind movie studios think that superheroine movies aren't profitable (because Catwoman & Elektra) or that one writer guy who thought a female Venom is a ridiculous idea because a super-powered female character ISN'T a believable villain for Spider-Man. 😐 I forgot the word, what's it called ...

She deserves more attention she's always so fun when used well

this is a woman so powerful that when Kulan gath was casting spells that rewrote ALL OF REALITY in NYC to revert back to the hyborean age.. Selene stayed EXACTLY the same because she was THERE the first time...and Kulan gath recognized her as his most significant threat. (actually it was Warlock, who being a technoorganic alien was completely outside Gath's understanding and immune to the "revision" spell he was casting. but still.) WHy the xmen not only leave her alive, but keep RESURRECTING her is beyond sane understanding and is one of the biggest arguments i have for all mutants being manipulated by the Celestials that are responsible for thier mutations in the first place. (its true, look it up)

Finally someone did a video on her. I’ve been asking ComicsExplained to do a video on her for a while. She’s such an amazing character and she has so much potential. She actually became a Goddess during Necrosha. I want Marvel to do more with her, show us how powerful she can become when she devours the souls of an entire planet!

Selene is actually born 17 thousand years ago. She was the oldest mutant until now since Marvel introduced mutants who lived billions of years ago. She is literally among the most powerful mutants, easily taking on both Magneto and Doom and and defeating them, she wasn't even trying to fight them. She is a psionic of the highest order. She is however not a telekinetic but can manipulate inanimate objects but since she is a sorceress she might be, who knows since she hasn't displayed much of her powers. With her intelligence and knowledge of magic, and her life force absorption. I would definitely put Selene above any magical being on earth. If displayed correctly, she would be more powerful than Doctor Strange, Wanda and even Madelyne Pryor

Selene has separate telekinetic powers from her matter animation powers. She’s a full range psionic, telepathy and telekinesis.

Recent writers don’t put those limitations on her power sets. This is Claremont era descriptions, basically almost 40 years ago.

Selene & Garba Hsein are the eldest Eternals...she would have made the perfect New Mutants villain.

I hope she gets featured in MCU and not that ghastly Selene in Dark Phoenix

Rumor had it that Selene was supposed to show up in X-MEN:APOCALYPSE in the beginning set in ancient Egypt. She was supposed to be the one that instigated the coup against Apocalypse.

She's like Rogue. But a witch.

Apocalypse is the oldest mutant but then again....

The one thing I don't like about this character is her history or origin specifically.... I know the writers at marvel during the time her character was created don't have degrees in sociology or anything or know about mankind's history but by her being born 17,000 years they should have made her either Ethiopian or Sumerian.

I hated Selene since the inception. Even down to her name. Plus, I concede she's powerful, her powers suck. She had telekinetic control of inorganic matter, telepathy, super strength, super speed. She has a vast array of powers, and isn't particularly strong with any of them. And as for the rest of her powers, I assume they're sorcery rather than mutant. None of her abilities are sufficiently developed to be a world-level threat.

They (Marvel) can't make up their minds about it... but in a Nutshell... Namor is recognized as the "first Mutant" in universe by public exposure, Dr. Nemesis was retconned as being public before him, but with a secret identity, Apocalypse and the Externals, and other mutants such as Exodus, wolverine, sabertooth, etc.are chronologically older in universe. That about covers it. Sorry for spreading the confusion/headache.

As it stands now...Groove / Krakoa is the oldest the last survivor of a pre-historic mutant society Threshold..Selene,Garba Hsein,Genesis,Apocalypse, Isca,White Sword, Xilo the First Horsemen the other Externals,are all between 15 & 6000 yrs old..Exodus is almost a millenia old , then it's Dr Nemesis& Namor at a century & change ..
