Wolverine and the X-Men is a 2009 American animated series by Marvel Studios. It is the fourth of five animated adaptations of the X-Men characters, the other four being Pryde of the X-Men, X-Men: The Animated Series, X-Men: Evolution, and an anime adaptation known simply as X-Men. It was cancelled for mysterious reasons in 2010.

Unfortunately none of them probably will. EMH is now directly counter to Disney’s MCU and everything has to bow down and cater to that. Spectacular Spiderman is caught up in rights and licensing issues which could be resolved now (Sony and Disney have a better relationship), but I don’t think Sony or Disney would go to the effort and I’m not sure the cast and creators are even able to come back. And Wolverines and the Xmen is a problem twice over. Again its counter to the MCU plans and it had the Fox problem but now that’s bought by Disney but I still wouldn’t expect Disney to bring it back.

@@dannybowey I think that's an oversimplification. I don't think they took on each other's personalities, but they definitely did swap roles in the team dynamic. It's a shame these three shows were cancelled before they could get their proper conclusions. Spectacular Spider-Man ended on two cliffhangers: 1. Norman got away scot-free by faking his own death and making Harry think that Spidey killed him. 2. The drama with Harry, Gwen, and Peter that would have inevitably resulted in something major happening. Avengers EMH had at least one major cliffhanger: THAT WHOLE ENTIRE THING with Surtur and the Enslaved Enchantress who got her boobs censored when she got the red outfit. I'm sure there were other cliffhangers, but this was the biggest one going strictly by memory. And of course we get to the elephant in the room, Wolverine and the X-Men's cliffhanger ending: Surprise, surprise! The good guys stopped an omnicidal machine from destroying everything only for it to pave the way for Apocalypse to take over and reshape the world in his image. Oh, and they were building this up throughout the 26-episode season to further rub salt in the wound.

I’ve never actually watched this show just for the simple reason that I know it was canceled after one season when it was clearly meant to go on. At least the severely under rated X-Men: Evolution got to end on a good note (although they had more plans for that show as well before it got axed.)

This was the best ERA of marvel animation. Between this and avengers Earth's mightiest heroes we were spoiled!!
After that Apocalypse appearance in the end just got me hyped for season 2. Looked for it and I found out that was it. Completely devastating
From all the X-Men shows, this one and Evolution deserved more than the 1990s animated series to be honest to get revivals. The 90s one had a great run and didn't need more. But it's sad that this X-men show had to die thanks to executives mismanaging things, despite that, creative people managed to create a good product even with all the stress and mismanaging, and at least the Animation Studio is still up, it's nice to see that they didn't die and are proud of the show too, it's not something they want to hide. As someone who works in this creative field, it's always a gamble to have a project being green lit or not and when it gets not knowing how long the project is going to survive, will it get a second season? Will it get enough funding? And so on.
I really did love this X-Men series. Was one of my favorites if not my absolute favorites and even though a part of me doesn't trust Disney right now I still kind of want to see this animated X-Men series come back
Wolverine should never be in a leadership role.

It was also weird because at first the only way to buy the entire season was to import the steelbook DVD set from Canada, and then meanwhile randomly years later the entire season was put out on Blu-ray. My cousin bought me the Steelbook DVD for my birthday, and when I randomly saw the Blu-ray set I went ahead and got it and I have both because I couldn’t bring myself to sell the Steelbook DVD set since it was a gift.

I liked it, it was its own story separate from the comics (kind of how X-Men evolution was). I did think they made Wolverine/Logan more like Hugh Jackman then his comic book self (he was dam tall in this series) but they got the characters and design and setting down.
I still hate how Wikipedia works. Any new piece of information only gets veted when it's released in a book or publication. A source where the research is done already wouldn't be added because their rating of proof is so obnoxious.
This was an excellent series that deserved a full run.
I liked this series, remember would wait for this in summer holiday in afternoon, then later i saw this in order on prime, liked the show wanted another season, the post credit set up a nice twist with apocalypse
Sometimes we may never know what exactly happened but it should be associated with budget most of the time because remenber that 2d animation is never expensive as vfx movie or game development etc and their history is and running for the most part.
The Disney deal had LITERALLY NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS SHOW GETTING CANCELLED. It has literally everything to do with the pissing contest of greed between Marvel Studios and Marvel Entertainment, a.k.a. it was literally just Marvel and Fox. The Disney deal is just a convenient scapegoat. The pissing contest it also why the X-Men are missing from Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. To inject Disney as a reason at all is too simplistic, since they would only have bolstered funding if Marvel Studios and Marvel entertainment/Fox weren't being greedy and trying to spite each other.

Wolverine has proven himself to be a strong and capable leader in many comic storylines. He has led teams like the X-Men and X-Force, showing his strategic skills and ability to guide others. Despite his rough exterior, he has a sense of loyalty and protects his team like a true leader. Wolverine has showcased his leadership skills in various ways. For example, he has led the X-Men during critical missions, making tough decisions and guiding the team through challenging situations. He's known for his tactical expertise, adaptability, and ability to inspire others. His experience and dedication make him a respected leader among his fellow mutants. I think some fans might view Wolverine as more of an anti-hero because of his rough and aggressive nature. He's not your typical "by-the-book" superhero, and that can sometimes cloud people's perception of his leadership qualities. But if you look beyond his gruff exterior, you'll see that he's a true leader who cares deeply about his team and will do whatever it takes to protect them.

This show had a lot of potential. Disney+ should pick this up.
Wolverine and the X-men was made by Nickelodeon. The series had no ties to Marvel or Disney as it was created by a direct competitor. The series aired on Nickelodeon alongside Iron-Man: Armored Adventures. The series wouldn't have generated much money for Marvel and probably would have made the Fox acquisition more difficult for Disney. X-men Evolution was a Warner Brothers made series that premiered for another direct competitor to Disney/Marvel. I can only assume that all parties were unwilling to relinquish ownership of their unique creations. Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost were writers for the animation arm of Marvel in the early 2000's. They were great comic writers who produced scripts for both shows. Those individuals have gone on to write for the big screen and probably would be too costly for an animated feature. I followed those gentlemen as comic writers. They aren't writing comics now. They moved on to better pay days. I wish they would come back for more but it is very doubtful.
Marvel cuts off their nose to spite their face? Noooo...that would never happen 🙄
I don't care WHAT the problem or issue was! This Wolverine & the X-Men series still should NOT have been cancelled and something needs to be done to bring this back for a second season!
So in Canada I never even got to see episode 26 until years later and I asked several other kids at the time and they didn't either. I don't think they even aired it.
Even though I'd like them to make a Revival I can understand why Marvel doesn't have any interest in doing so at the moment, but I am surprised it didn't get a Sequel Comic series. Sure not all of the fans who liked the show would read the comic, but with the Success of stuff like Batman 89 and Superman 76, I'm surprised Marvel haven't jumped onto that boat too. There are many shows and movies that they could do continuations of. Wolverine and The X-Men, Sam Raimi's Spider-man, The Amazing Spider-man, Blade, The Fox X-Men Universe, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, The 90s Spider-man series... there's so much they could do and some of those I think would be massive successes when it comes to Comics, if they went back and got help from the Original Crew. I hope Marvel does do something like this in the future, cause I have really enjoyed what DC has done with theirs.
Damn, my brothers and i rented the beat-up, crappy dvd bundles of this show from our local library and binged the crap out of it and EMH. Man, i miss those times

More than any other adaptation, it felt like it was trying to combine EVERY other version of the X-Men into one thing: the movies (Wolverine being the tall leader with a close connection to Rogue, Beast looking like Grammar, Scott not being as focused on), XTAS (some of the costumes and character inclusions from wackier elements), Evolution (same creators/designers returned for this show and it almost works as a rough narrative sequel), and the “Astonishing X-Men” comics. Many of these things were done well, and many characters are spectacularly done in it, but because it reminds me of so many other things, it feels like it has the least defined identity of all the animated adaptations to me. Still, I would’ve loved to see it continue for a couple more seasons like Evolution
If this series gets a revival for season 2, 3 or maybe 4th season if the show do a successful start
I'm on the younger millennial side, but this show started in 2009, I feel like there are just as many zoomers or more who watched it than millennials. It's not the 1992 series that I did watch
I hope Disney revives this one. its another good anime.
One of the best marcel cartoons. Up there with Avengers Assemble imo
I wondered why the show just up and quit after one season. As a kid I held out hope it would return some day and wrap up the entire season's buildup. Reminds me of another show, Dragon Booster. 2 Seasons of lore, and the new series is teased, then nothing. I later found out that apparently due to poor toy sales it got canned. I'm still annoyed.
