Jerry's dentist, Dr. Tim Whatley, has just finished the process of converting to Judaism, but is already making Jewish-themed jokes that make Jerry, who is Jewish, uncomfortable. Jerry goes so far as to say that he believes that Whatley only became Jewish "for the jokes".
Dr. Tim Whatley is a fictional character on the American sitcom Seinfeld. He is played by Bryan Cranston.
Once dubbed "Dentist to the Stars" by George Costanza, Tim is a recurring character, and appears as Jerry's dentist.
Tim briefly dates Elaine. He is also from New Jersey.
In "The Mom and Pop Store", Jerry is unsure of whether or not he is invited to Tim's party based on the way Tim says to Elaine, "Why would Jerry bring anything?" George also takes a pencil to the party because he thinks there will be a lot of dentists there and he wants to ask if they can compare the teeth marks on a pencil he found in the Jon Voight car to see if he really was the previous owner.
Tim was labeled as a "re-gifter" in the episode "The Label Maker", when he gives a label maker to Jerry as a gift because Jerry gave him Super Bowl tickets, when Elaine realizes that it's the same label maker Elaine had given to him as a gift for not charging her for dental work.
In "The Jimmy", Tim irks Jerry by having Penthouse magazines in his waiting room and by possibly 'violating' him while he was unconscious during a tooth filling.
In “The Yada Yada”, Tim converts to Judaism, and Jerry confesses to Tim's Catholic priest his belief that Tim has done this solely to make jokes (which offends him, not as a Jew, but as a comedian). Tim takes extreme exception to a joke Jerry tells the priest; as a result, he deliberately prolongs an uncomfortable procedure on Jerry. Also in this episode, Cosmo Kramer coins the term "anti-dentite" after the term anti-Semite. Dr. Abbott, the dentist who taught Tim, stands up for him at the wedding of his son, Mickey, and he chastises Jerry for antagonizing Tim. He says, “Tim Whatley was one of my students, and if this wasn’t my son’s wedding day, I’d knock your teeth out, you anti-dentite bastard.”
In "The Strike", Tim gave out Christmas gifts that were actually donations made in their name to a charity. This leads George to conjure up a fake charity called "The Human Fund", and he gives out fake Christmas gifts. Also, at Tim's party, Jerry meets Gwen, who is a "two-face", looking very pretty in some environments, but not so much in others.

Of course, in every interview I've seen Cranston do, he's much, much more like Whatley in real life than Walter.

If I recall correctly, there are differences between Jew as a race, Jew as an ethnicity, and Jew as a follower of Judaism. Assuming I'm understanding correctly, he only fell into the third category, so he can only get away with it when it comes to the third category, not the second or first. Although, that doesn't mean he'll necessarily get socially punished for doing it when it comes to the second or first category, despite being inappropriate, disrespectful of boundaries, and possibly punching down.
From sitcoms to being a bad ass in a Crime/Drama. This guy is versatile as fuck.
LOL hilarious how Whatley went from relatively sane and serious in his first couple appearances and then slowly slid into insanity.

Actually, eight actors appeared on both Seinfeld and Breaking Bad. Apart from the ones you mention there was also the cop that asked Hank to take a look at the Gale investigation, he was one of Elaine's neighbours in the episode with the doorman. Then there was the doctor that took care of Hank after the shootout, he was Milos the immigrant who worked in a tennis shop but was terrible at tennis. Then the owner of the junk yard where they destroyed the RV, in Seinfeld he was the actor that was cast as the Kramer character when they did the show in the show. And finally, Hector Salamanca's nurse was also the foreman of the jury who read the verdict in the Seinfeld finale.
I love how you can see Bryan Cranston do that jaw thing as his character contemplates something in this and Breaking Bad. This weird little acting trait that turns Tim Whatley into Heisenberg
