Secrets of Slot Car Racing #3 - Purchasing Cars
This is a basic overview of what to look for when buying more slot cars.
It’s easy to get carried away so remember to have a batch of similar cars for fair racing, we want the outcome to depend on driver skill and not the car.
Also additional cars may or may not work well on your track so additional expense may be needed to have good control of your new cars (covered in the secrets of a lot car racing #2).

Omg my uncle back in the day, we are talking like late 80's had a huge slot car track in our basement. He had maybe 10 cars, and omg, it was so much fun!

Also update controller before buying a ton of cars ! A controller with a sensitivity dial to tune in all cars !

I have purchased an AFX track set for 6, 8 and 10 year old grandchildren. I appreciate all of your videos and information. Should I purchase a "parts kit" of some sort and if so, what would you recommend? Also, how do you recommend the cars be stored? Thank you!

Thanks. Good questions. It’s nice to have a few parts like the shoes that pick up electrical power, they can wear out. AFX has a parts kit with replacements and it even has the tiny springs that I always drop. As far as storing cars I really haven’t thought about a proper way to store them.
