Great idea! It is very interesting topic. For me it is quite personal since my father is a firefighter and was involved in the rescue operations during the 2002 floods. I was 8 years old and I remember him being away from home a lot during the floods. Also his parents lost their weekend house to the floods. I was actually there with them shortly before the water reached there. Thankfully my parents came for us in time (I believe it was actually in the middle of the night) and we all got home safely. So I would like to see a video about this topic :-)

@@DreamPrague Hi Jen, the Old Quibbler at your service again! ;) Do not worry - we shall get metric system under your skin sooner or... maybe later! :D Besides: 1) I appreciate that you put on light reasons of "crappy work" of Czech bricklayers on the Museum facade - very few people were that curious! ;) 2) Jan Palach did not burn himself on the protest against the soveit occupation (it already happened - nad he did it half year later) - he protested against growing passivity of people ("dealing with it"). Half year later people demonstrated against occupation in Prage and some were shot and killed - this time by Czech comunist police for a change... Within 1968-70 about 450.000 members of commnist party were expeled, about 300.000 people were fired from their jobs and about 200.000 people left the country - then Husák said: "Borders are no corso.", thus borders were shut and most of the nation stopped to resist waiting for... when "it breaks"... 3) One detail - remains (heads) of 12 from 27 Czech lords (just most of them were not lords) were exhibited then fory years on inner Old Town side of Mostecká věž at Charles bridge till 1631. 4) Prague Uprising started just in time to prevend the plan of german gen. Toussaint to use Prague as defensive point while demolishing all other distinctive buildings in Prague including National Museum and Prague Castle (charges were already put at some buildings) - thus demolishing of City Hall seems as a very a little price paid for saving of all the rest... 5) I guess you already know pretty well that Mariánský sloup was build as thanks of Prague catholics to Virgin Mary for protecting the city against Swedish raiders (it got many other meanings later) - and I am sure you know that Franta Sauer brought his crowd of "Žižkov guys" to take it down on the base of his false statement that it had been ordered by Czech authorities to take it down - do you? ;) But anyway - come on! Show yourself! Do that video! :D At least the time of last year lockdown was used well at the Old Town Square. 6) I shall not join scolding you for a little mistake - this would childish - but... did you notice any other old measures in Prague like weights or volumes? ;) 7) Nothing to add to K+M+B+2020 - good observation anyway - so I only wish Christus mansionem benedicat (to your house)! ;) 8) If I can add one thing to Bradáč - if water was touching his beard it meant the Old Town shall be flooded but if top of his had got under the water people could go boating in the Old Town Square. Besides the basis for the flood walls you showed work actually pretty well (if installed in time) and Prague flood rescue plans belong to the best in the world - no lives were lost to floods in Prague if the plan was properelly applied. And that's all folks! Thanks you for delight again and I am looking forward to see your next video! ;) Bye!

The K+M+B+20XX most of us remember as Klíče, Mobil, Brýle (Keys, Phone, Glases) the things you better have with you when leaving your home. So when you step outside the hous you look up on it and before you shot the door you check if you have them. The 2002 flood also damaged the metro a lot so there are sings of the water level on most of stations in the center. Even on nám. Míru where the ground level is higher than the 2002 flood the metro is so deep it was still flooded. One thing worth to mention and you didn't is why are metro stations in the center and especially those line crossing ones so vast and transfers between metro lines so complicated. It's because their were build to work also as a public shelter in case of nuclear bomming.

If you go to Hradčany, to Loretánská street 1, there is old Hradčany town hall many people don't know of, and there you can actually find the mark of Pragues cubit - it's on the door, so you can see it better. It is the house behind the corner on the right side of the street (from the direction of Prague Castle).

Everyone knows that the Russians shot a few rounds at the Museum building in '68, but not everyone knows how in '45 Americans and Brits (hopefully accidentally) bombed Prague on Valentine's day and managed to hit over 2,600 buildings in areas such as Vinohrady... Even two main hospitals, monastery and a Vinohrady Synagogue got direct hits! One of these bombs also "made space" for the famous Dancing house! We keep hearing lies how Prague wasn't destroyed during WWII but this bombing followed by Prague uprising fighting a few months later have left some serious scars on the city.

The reason of shooting to the Museum was different. They heard gunfire.. But it wasnt gunfire. One of their tanks with long range radio and antenna ... The antenna got stuck to tram troleys that were leading behind and on the sides of museum. Short circuit that it created made few gunfire-like explosions so they started to firing on the museum, thinking that gunfire came from the windows. Fun fact: One of bullets hit the script right to the center of word Svoboda (Liberty). Not other bulet hit that script.
