Because gene edit is a fairly new medical science and you dont wanna rush it and get someone killed even if that is how its gonna get cured. We want this to be as safe as possible and at that 95+ percent effective range because that is functional if not outright cure lvls of success.

I remember from 10 years old i would get Cold sores on uper lip and sore would last 1 or 2 weeks and it was tuff . I would show mom & she said " put a cream or liquid medicine " and she would dab a liquid that is color violet. And it would look worse but she said it would heat faster. Maybe it worked for her but not me. I would get 2 or 3 sores a year. And when i was 17 my mom said one day. " Dont step on floor barefoot because ull get coldsore. I started trying not to be barefoot and if i did i would rub my foot on rug to heat up my lower of foot. For years i went from 3 sores to 1 or non a year. And when i did Get a sore as soon as i would fell my lip swollen i would have a thread needle to pop and remove the little water the blister had. The sooner i pop it the faster it heals because im stoping it from growing out the blister. Mom hasn't really has them as much now just with her no barefoot technique. I do 2 methods. And so far i don't remember the last time i had a sore that lasted more that 3/4 days. I didn't believe It was and over the years

I will be waiting anxiously to hear more Bout this possible cure. I have had to deal with HSV1 for well over 3 decades & each infection is worse than the last.

Hope something like this come for the cancer virus hpv.

I need to triple-check but I think the work they're doing works for both HSV1 and HSV2. I think it was a form of HSV2 that they used in mouse trials actually. I am so so hopeful.

He is doing work on HSV 2 forms as well and they are very confident that it will be as effective as the virus is extremely close to first simplex.
