Searching For Ganja In Azerbaijan 🇦🇿

🇦🇿 The truth is I did not know anything about Azerbaijan before I arrived except that it was rich with oil money and had an incredibly modern capital city called Baku. But I wanted to see beyond that and get to know the country beyond the glitz a little bit better. And so I hired a car, bought a map and set off in search of Ganja. Join me!

I teared up a little when that couple and their grandchild offered a meal and entry into their home. There’s something so remarkably human and decent about how they were that I think a part of my soul recognizes and misses from a past life or something. God bless them.

8:46 .. beautiful lady. A similar thing happened to me in a Bulgarian town 20 years ago on a snowy winter night. I was lost and sick and an old lady dragged me from the train station at midnight to her soviet era apartment block. Wasn't sure what to expect but she woke her husband and son who grabbed some vodka and prepared me a meal. I stayed there 3 nights she washed all my clothes and her son got a friend who spoke basic English to translate. my hotel had closed (my lonely planet book was outdated) and I was gonna freeze at the train station. wonderful hospitality and great memories.

This video tore me up, in a good way. First of all I'd like to thank you so much for what you're doing. I'm an ex karabakh refugee myself, left Baku 25 years ago, travelled to Moscow and after 5 years went to Spain. Now I'm in Germany, but even after these extensive migrations, I still think about this place, as my home, where everything started. And my parents are just like the people you showed, hospitable and friendly. I can even remember the smell of crude oil in the air when you deboarded the plane. This channel is worth so much. Thanks Bald.

I had to come back to this video to understand more on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflicts. When I watched it the first time nothing made sense but now, I understand a great deal. Many thanks.

What a beautiful family,so loving. Breaks my heart, if even half of humanity had hearts like them-all of us would be living heaven on Earth together. Also that part of how the herder will be surprised when I popup over the hill only for Bald to be surprised by the 2 giant dogs.😂😂😂

The derelict (crashed?)"fighter" plane you encountered at 14:40 is actually a Sukhoi 15 interceptor. These were based in Azerbaijan in the Seventies to ward off aerial incursions from NATO's Turkey and from the Shah's pro-Western Iran. This aircraft was phased out in the mid-eighties, and was superseded by the vastly superior MiG-31, which is still in Russian service today. This is the same plane that tragically downed Korean Airlines' flight 007 on 01/09/1983. I met this bloke on Kibbutz back in 1976, who had done his compulsory military service in the Soviet Air Force in the Caucasus and was from the Tat Persian-speaking Jewish community of Azerbaijan. He was totally enamored with the "Su-Pitnatski"!
