Saw him live twice. One of those was when he was trying out material in a pub in Kentish town, north London, ahead of a big venue tour. He trialled the joke about rollups being practically a salad. The gig was in front of no more than 30 people. I went downstairs for a pee in the break as he came up, and he gave a little pleasant "alright?" nod. He had a ciggie and a pint outside afterwards and chatted with a little group of three or four. My impression is of a lovely and kind man, who was also ridiculously funny.

He's bang on about the Jeremy Vine show. Jeremy Vine was the prime reason that the people in the office I used to work with clubbed in to buy a DAB radio, so we could listen to music rather than so-called debate.
