Great and informative video. I have a 2020 Spark 3up and I'm going to do an oil change soon. I use a Mityvac pneumatic fluid pump for oil/trans fluid changes.

that's an airflow straightener, it's there for a reason, to decrease turbulence. removing it may have detrimental effects

Airflow straightener I'm not really sure but I don't think straightener is a technological term their rocket scientist

I do all my own work on my toys. Most of the dealerships have a bunch high school kids working in the shops with minimal supervision.

What caused the water ingress, if it wasn't the sponsons?

The clamp is an oetiker clamp or ear clamp.

When you put the body back together does it require the use of double sided tape or glue for the rubber gaskets? As in the front bumper and front area where the hull numbers go. Also so the ribbon delete, the metal device sets inside where the honeycomb piece was, or just rides inside the rubber gasket between 2 hose clamps. I’m doing a full break down inspection of both and delete install this week. My guess 2 hours a piece?

The primary body does not, it rides on a gasket. However, make SURE that's in the right spot. The metal ring sits where the spark arrestor would go, just think of that rule of thumb. It should take 30-1 hour minutes pulling apart the hull (don't forget the steering cable!). Inspection / updates are as long as you would want to do them - I'd take my time. To reinstall should be the same 30 mins-1 hour depending.

@@WeTryMotorsports how long for should it push into that intake, the metal ring, and thanks for reminder on the steering, I need to tighten it up, a lot of play also, but will need to move regardless. Mine are 2019s. Your genius, master mechanic levels I feel.

@@WeTryMotorsports so the gasket is good cause it’s only 2 years old I guess, but I’m replacing front pieces where hill numbers go. That request new gasket I guess?

How’d you get that clamp off for the ribbon delete? Need special tool? I noticed to tighten it you used a special tool I don’t have.

I used a flathead to pry it off, then needlenose to pull it apart. Pretty simple, it's in the video a little bit

You can use a standard stainless hose clamp as well, but watch out for the ones that are ribbed, use a smooth one so it doesn't damage the housing / hose. One of those band-clamp clamp tools are like $3

I don’t know if I would have accepted that fix. If there us a valid reason to remove or replace the sponsons then gluing them on is not a proper repair. Court time.

@@crosisofborg5524 it shouldnt be glue its probably silicone, they just used too much and it gooped out which is just lazy that they didn't clean ut before it dried. From factory the sponsons have silicone around the bolt holes

I have a question I just got myself a 2022 spark trixx and I'm wondering if any modifications will void the warranty on the pwc?

if you're worried take them off before sending it in. however, I left them on when my dealer had my machine. no issues with warranty with them. I guess it's the dealer that decides

@@WeTryMotorsports Hopefully I can modify mine as I want an intake for this trixx as the temperature gets really high near the engine and it gets heatsoaked most of the time

That silicone you put on the air intake looked like a complete waste of time since it is being held on to the gas tank with 3 rubber straps.....And since you are talking about air restrictions for the ribbon delete I think the K&N is needless also because it would be a restriction just like the ribbon since PWC's don't need air filters to begin with as witnessed by the stock intake setup.

Pretty sure there is a filter inside the stock air box, I would assume that you would take it out in order for airflow to be improved

The k&n filter is not really a filter it i has large open mesh it's just to stop any large objects from entering

Any noticeable chnage with the ribbon delete? Also would it be possible to replace it without taking the ski apart?

I just installed a ribbon delete and the instructions that came with it from the manufacture says to face the arrow toward the throttle body not the intake manifold. Might be something to look into. Cheers.

He clearly put it in backwards. He sounded vague about the arrow's position, so I looked it up. You are correct.

Why put thay ribbon delete? I was wondering why not just put it out and not put anything back in there.

it's a protective measure against blowback. there needs to be a ring in there because it acts as a brace for two of the hoses to connect to.

I'm holding it in the thumbnail, it filters the air going in the machine since there's no air filter. Anything a little larger than a grain of sand can't get in there

@@WeTryMotorsports It is actually a flame arrester as they are required by the US Coast Guard. The cold air intake filter also acts as a flame arester, so it's ok to remove the ribbon if you put on the cold air intake. Backfires are super rare with fuel injected engines, so it is a holdover/emergency safety device these days.

@@TylerPinkney correct, it's also called a spark arrestor. it prevents debris from going in the motor and backfire out

I could of made a better intake than that it looks like it got ran over flat by a truck.

I do not understand this nonsense. 1st you no need add another restriction (the cold intake) for the airflow to be improved while you are removing the ribbon air restriction. Also, why buy a pvc ring for $44 from Riva when you can just remove the mesh from the ribbon and re-use the metal ring, or just go to your local hardware store a get the same size pvc ring for $5?

Ok let me help you: 1. Do NOT put regular metal in your machine. These are watercraft, metal will rust or rot. When you put that inside your intake and when it rusts, that's bad news since there's nothing left to stop it from entering the head. Material matters. These are designed not to rust, crack, chip or shatter. 2. It's a COLD air intake. This is about location. When you remove the honeycomb arrestor, you will need some front pressure in order to accommodate for too much air flow. However, this is not the biggest deal. The cold air intake takes air from the front of the ski where the breather is, not right next to the motor like the stock one. Heatsoak is a real problem with sparks due to the location of the stock intake. Let me know if you have any questions. It's best to understand rather than to assume.

You need to get rid of the standard exhaust
