Learned this trick from watching a bee keeper's video. When you're doing a lot of cutting - like processing wire - put a magnet in your pocket, in your case one in each pocket. Then just stick the edge cutter or garden shear to the magnet when you're using the other one. It will be right there stuck to your leg when you reach down for it and you won't drop it in the bin or on the ground all the time.

Better yet neodyium magnets work the best small light weight and I bet 10 times stronger. I know this because it's literally what I do. 😅👀😁

I wish we had widely available meat pies here in the USA, I enjoyed the ones I had when I visited Australia and New Zealand.

I know it must be hard work putting out videos AND doing your job, but it's your duty, YOUR DUTY!, to put out as many three hour long marathons as possible, to keep the rest of us, trapped in our various lockdowns and workings-from-home, sane and happy.

My husband and I are from England, he is a computer systems engineer and I have nothing to do with electronics. We love watching your videos! Ironically, the first time you mentioned doing scrapping while watching you scrapping - I was finishing up helping the maintenance guy break down tank-less water heater units for the coppers and brass. BTW - I work in a bookshop and all of your POS/Receipt printer stuff/PDT hald scanners, etc is the stuff I run every day. As many times as I've wanted to punch my work system, seeing them tossed in the recycling bin is cathartic.

Finally another scrap marathon. I’ve missed the long ones. Been doing ewaste for 6 months now and got my first school account. Thanks Ben for teaching all of us.

Those USB to RS232 adapters are great for connecting to serial console on switches and routers, also industrial PLCs, as most modern laptops don't have serial ports.

I like seeing all the ins and outs of the ewaste pick ups you do, I sure do learn a lot from your videos. I always look forward to each one!

My dad worked as a superintendent at his work. He brought home all kinds of stuff for us kids to do. Break down pallet, save nails for scrap and stack wood for fireplace in winter. We scrapped a few metals for him. He kept the money. We were expected to work from just after school to dinner time. So about 2 hr. He left us each a list of chores. When he got home he would check the list, the work done correctly, and if the list got low he would add to it, the never ending list, lol.

Delta is the OEM for most laptop power supplies. Lenovo, HP, etc. pay to have their logo screen printed and/or embossed in the plastic but they don’t make them themselves.

One last thought, regarding the bartender station - one of my friends from Australia spoofed the Foster's commercials by saying "Fosters - Australian for "Give it to someone else!" :D

I'm not going to be a scrapper but it's just very very entertaining. You have a lot of stuff in your yard but that's what I would call organized chaos because even though you have a ton of stuff you are very very organized and how you have everything piled and sorted and it's actually kind of cool. Hey Ben, love your videos. I find it weird how different things are here in the USA. I would be listing those NIB (new in box) keyboards for multiple times the scrap value. I think the Australian postage system makes it difficult for you. I get free boxes/padded envelopes from the post office. Plus, I get a huge discount by buying my postage on ebay.

Like he said, he knows he could sell stuff; the trouble is having the capacity to test the stuff and package and ship it, having all the components can be tricky too. He used to do it, but then stuff gets returned as faulty and he has wasted his time and money. I totally see what you are saying, we have thought it with a few things too, but it just isn't his business model, he's a scrapper not an online seller. He does keep vintage really good bits though👍 The beauty of doing things like scrapping stuff out and cutting cables is that you can kind of do it on autopilot too, I used to sell on ebay and it takes a lot of time and organising. He likes doing what he does and makes a good living, it is clearly his specialist subject, so I guess we as viewers can have all the opinions in the world, but at the end of the day, it's only his opinion that matters and he is doing well for himself👍

that was a near 3 hour marathon - we made in that time 3 cups of coffee - we really enjoyed that - the wire cleaning session was great - the recycling yard was fascinating and you got rid of your cardboard - you still getting more stuff and filling up the yard -man - we love your videos - one day you will be allowed again to do street e-waste scrapping again - please keep safe and cheers from loganholme in QLD !!!!

Agreed. I worked at a very large recycling firm for years and the biggest issue with plastic is sorting pre grind, and post consumer trash still in it. People don’t care bc it’s easier to pass on the problem than it is to remedy it.

E waste plastice can be ground down and then turned into a whole lot of useful items. They make carpet, trash cans, milk crates, dog houses all kinds of stuff. I used to be a supervisor at the fiber company and the biggest problem we had was keeping a supply of plastic pellets. I think a lot of recyclers just throw it in the trash for the land fill. We made carpet yarn, dental floss, tennis racket netting, auto yarn, all from plastic pellets

They go on and on about plastic waste and pollution however they fail to mention or discuss plastic pyrolysis which is the process to turn plastic back into crude oil, probably something to do with the rich oil barons stopping it

I refurbish e-waste here in the SF Bay Area for almost 15 yrs. You can do refurbishing by yourself and make more while working less. I did it from my parents place at first and then rented a warehouse which is where I live and work now. I know what you mean , the freedom is great. I don't know if I could go back to typical job. But it's not for everyone , some people cannot self-motivate enough and that's ok.

I've had a few different channels and watched you over the years and I have to agree with you ewaste is very hard to get started but such a rewarding business I have just brought a van and renting a shed I do scrap and ewaste and I love it making really good money ... but I mostly refurbish ewaste if it's worth it ... just need to find a board buyer cos atm I just depopulat and threw the rest to a recycling centre as "electronics"... but you got me into this game Ben you've taught me a lot I truly appreciate it ... and after the virus lock down I'd love to meet you :)

Yeah the way to go forward in this biz is to refurbish PC's & Laptops, I get too much at the moment to do that so I prefer to sell to another recycler who does the refurbishing, I still get good enough cash flow but there's much more money in it to sell as working units

You mention of ways to help your videos. One thing that might me helpful is when you are showing the process of unscrewing boards, just show the first screw being pulled and then skip all the rest. It might help some. I think we all know how to un screw something. Hope that bit will be helpful. Good day mate.

Ben I agree that formally hiring help would be too much trouble due to the paperwork, insurances and general hassle. You can always get some teenage kid of one of your friends to help out for a few hours on the weekend though and pay him $x cash per computer he scraps. It's not really any hassle for you, and you give the kid some pocket money and life experience while you can enjoy a cold one and a smoke.

Im a scrapper here in Lansing, Michigan in the U.S and we don't have to cut any of that stuff off the wire, they just give us #2 ICW for it so it's nice
