If I had a nickle for every KZreadr I've seen who compared Scott Pilgrim Takes Off to Unlimited Blade Works, I'd have two nickels! Which isn't much, but it's weird it happened twice.

@@vgmarkis SarcasticChorus did a video earlier today on the same show and compared it in his video. I definitely recommend his channel if you haven't heard of him before.

The twist honestly made me stop and question literally everything that happened afterwards. I liked it. I understand many people felt baited by the trailers making it seem like it was going to be a one-to-one retelling and ik many of us want characters like Knives, Kim and Lisa to be important, have their key moments and be adapted properly for once. (Myself included) But I genuinely appreciate the approach they took here. Turning it in a murder mystery-type deal focusing on Ramona and having her make peace with most of her exes was a bold choice and I honestly am down with it. Ramona in the movie felt more like an afterthought and wasn’t even going to be the true love interest for Scott given the way she and him had zero chemistry but he had all the chemistry with Knives. (Which was a bad writing choice imo because the whole point of Knives is that she’s too young and good for someone like Scott) For once, she feels like a character that bounces off the other characters great like she does in the comic and she has far more agency here than she did in the original comic or movie. Genuinely a good move in my opinion. That said, everything else is fantastic. The animation, the score, the exes are all phenomenal here. Combines the best elements of the comic, movie and game all into one big package. As a diehard fan of this series, I’m super happy with this adaptation and hope there’s more in store!

That's too bad, I liked the movie. I felt they did the best they could in a short time. I really enjoyed the animation and extra development however. It turned out better than I thought.

I want another season of this because it’s just that awesome

I don’t know why people are so mad, it’s great if you’re a fan since it develops so many of the underutilized characters

iv'e already watched the show twice, it completely subdued expectations in the best way possible and manage to give scotts supporting cast some great character development (especially the 7 evil ex's).

Basically The Scott Pilgrim movie timeline did not get the happy ending and decided to undo the new timeline of Scott from this series. That’s what I think is implied here. It also shows that there isn’t really a bad guy here. None of the exes or Scott and Ramona are clearly good people either. It opens what scars Ramona put on her exes after breakup. Its basically getting no closure before moving on which makes them vengeful in their own right. Which it shows us what they were going through. You basically feel sympathetic to them and dislike the leads we see as heroes. It gives me Fire Emblem Fates vibes thinking this side is good or the other is and then there is a third path. The finale was basically a third path that brought both sides to fight one Scared Scott. That is spot on awesome and the exes do get a happy ending too than perish. Now could they make a season 2? Possibly but its on the creator’s decision. And I think it will but on the topic it will be about it questionable.

Brian Lee O’Mailey said it doesn’t really take place in the comic or movie timeline, so those Scott’s don’t necessarily end up like future Scott in this series. They could’ve had long and happy marriages/lived with Ramona, and just in this specific series most of the events would’ve been the same, it’s just something would’ve happen with this specific Scott to cause him to end up like that

I was so fucking happy this was a sequel to the comic, totally loved it. Maybe this is my favorite SP thing now.

While I also really wanted to have an adaptation of the comics, this was still a very fun time, and I’m truly hoping that at some point we will get a true adaptation of the comics if this show does well, but I still heavily enjoyed it.

I would’ve loved a faithful adaptation of the original comic with the kind of character development they have in this show, Without the exes dying either, but if people enjoy it, then kudos 😊

As someone who’s a huge fan of the comics, movie and video game, I was so excited to finally see the comics animated except it wasn’t that instead something strange but better than I expected. In a way it was the perfect end to the books and movie which had a vague ending so it was cool seeing what future Scott would be like. I would love a second season invoking the characters from the comics like Lisa, Joseph, Lynette, and Hollie, it would be so satisfying seeing them get more development than they already did

4:14-oh yeah, it was my favorite, too! I’ve loved Mae Whitman ever since she played Katara in Avatar, and even more recently as Amity Blight on The Owl House, so I’m a bit biased to anything with her in it.

The animation was damn good, I love hearing the old cast again, love the fight scene, and Wich that they adapted the show like in the comics but still good. When I Saw that Scott loss but at the same time I thought it was interesting. Seeing Matthew and Gideon fight was badass!!!!! I really like it focus on Ramona, I still love the show even though it's not what I thought it was, but still good show.

A very good show. I know a lot of people are bashing it because of the bait and switch from the trailers because of the current trends of Hollywood and it’s bad influence, but for Scott Pilgrim, I don’t see it has being influenced by it. In my personal opinion, I think it’s written well and Ramona being the Protagonist is a very welcomed change. We see her evil exes change for the better, even at the finale they support her and Scott’s relationship. She’s willing to make her relationship work after all of her past mistakes back then with the evil exes and want to make this one work with Scott. The characters were more fleshed out this time around, and I do hope they do a second season, because Gideon and Julie being together as antagonists would be awesome, trying to cause trouble against Scott, Ramona and the Evil Exes could be a very fun plot idea

i went into this show blind with only the most tiniest impression of the Scott Pilgrim movie's plot (I never watched it) and I really enjoyed this show.

My headcanon is that this took place in the webcomic's universe, but the failed film they tried to make was using the script of the live-action film

You really have to read the comics. They’re REALLY good. If you liked moments like Ramona making amends with Roxie, there are a lot of moments that are similar to that in the comics. The comics just have so much more nuance

Remove the "is" in the title and the thumbnail now has a new meaning

As a big fan of the comics, I was initially a bit miffed that it wasn't going to be a faithful adaptation, but as the show went on, I couldn't help but get swept up in it and love it anyways. I will always stand by the comics as being Scott Pilgrim at its absolute best, but the anime is a stellar companion piece.

I think it’s more of a perfect sequel to the books than the movie but it works for both and so much potential for more Scott Pilgrim in general. I’m so excited for the future if they decide to make a second season.

@@jaydenlopez3636 I read the comics, then watched the movie, then the show, and I think that people should watch it in that order because The comics are the best, most complete story, The movie is getting to see the characters with voices and music, The show is a spin off almost like a what if which allows audiences to not get too iffy on timeline shenanigans.

I own the comics and love them to death ( not a big fan of the movie 🤷‍♀️) but this show is really good felt like they made the exes just fodder to have Scott grow and didn’t have a chance to maybe reflect and fix who they are and Ramona definitely is better for facing the mistakes she made where in the comic she just kept running

I don't think it needs a second season, but I firmly believe this season should have been an episode or 2 longer than it is.

Turned out better than I thought and I was sad when it ended but it was a good ending.

Now we just need a Heaven's Feel version of Scott Pilgrim

This series made me appreciate the movie more cause thats now officially as close as we are gonna get to a true adaptation.

I hope season 2 is sort of like a Scott Pilgrim vs th World 2 in a sense. Like Scott still hasnt dealt with his own issues and his past either hes just side lined it in Season 1. I just really want a second season with more Knvies, Stephan, Kim and Scott group plot elements than “Ramona, the Exs, and the Hunt for Pilgrim”. I also hope Season 2 also includes key characters like Joseph and Lisa into the plot as well as they (sadly) got drafted again.

I never read the comics, and i really like the movie. But this show just made me feel some type of way. it’s so endearing and pretty and fun but also honest and emotionally diverse. big good

I feel that there's plenty of character plot threads to explore in a S2

Problem was, the whole story was supposed to be a video game-like romance. Each ex was supposed to symbolize some element of Scott's character development. Sure, this was nice to see some more focus on the other characters, and the animation was PEAK, ... but the whole story concept from the beginning was lost, and wasn't replaced with anything as deep.

This movies shows how ramona really love scott and at the movie it doesn't really show it well idk why.

Hm, i think this was a very interesting direction. I wonder how a Season 2 would go and be about? What do you think?

I have three major problems with the show that could easily be fixed with more episodes so i hope there are some. The first is that desoite the show putting more focus on Ramona and her relationships they didn't explore her relationship with Gideon at all. The other two are sorta comnected to each other... With the focus on Romona, Scott doesnt really get the chance to develop much as a character in this series, and this version of him needs it just as much as comics Scott did presumably... And because of that they once again cut out Lisa entirely, which is a bummer.

If they do a s2 let the just do what everyone wants and make an anime ver of the comic

Ah damn, too bad the crew doesn't want to do another season. I think this has so much potential to continue.

What would you even do plot wise, the entire point is bad person learns to be less bad, maybe if they focused on one or two exes a season and built it up, but at this point they finished the main plot and beat the main baddie. Would just be rehashing season one with how they did it.

It would probably be best if you watch the movie and just look at the comic before watching this show

This show wouldn't even get half the negative response if the trailers and promotional materials didn't make it look like it was going to be an adaptation of the books. If they were upfront with it being mostly about Ramona people wouldn't of been so disappointed. It is bad for companies to mislead what there product is going to be in my opinion.

It still would have, the writing is just bad. 80% of the characters are one dimensional, at best Ramona is two dimensional, the plot makes little sense, why would a girl who went on a date with a dude once go on Sherlock Holmes adventure to find him, future Scott is just tossed in with no build up or logical reason why he stopped being good after the lessons learned in the comic. It feels like teen titans go, but with Scott pilgrim characters.

The biggest frustration as this was advertised for awhile as being a direct adaptation. Then woop rug pull seeeeee we fooled you hue hue hue hue hue girllllllll power hue hue.

The bait and switch fkd over a lot of ppl.. I'm a fan so I'll watch regardless, just wannit to see the comics animated..

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off made me empty and confused, i understood why it did this but i feel happy, disappointed and confused since i really did want the comics adapted the best way, with Lisa Miller, Nega Scott, and even the twins and their robot, we almost got that but, i understand why they needed to make these characters have depth but, i kinda just ended up carring more about Matthew and Lucas' characters than anyone else, maybe its cuz they felt likeable and cooler, or everything bored me and i was just looking for something to like since this wasnt what i wanted, im not and am disappointed at this show, the animation and OST slap tho.

Scott was the villian. He was a jerk. Ramona become all powerful

Calling it RAMONA, would have been great. Calling it Scott, is down right EVIL. Tired of that ugly, evil, manipulative bait and switch. If I eat at a restaurant and order a good steak, and the server brings me chicken, I never eat there again.

Ramona felt like a rather boring main character compared to scott...

This series is not a Scott Pilgrim series. Scott barely does anything and the rest of the plot is just fanfiction level shipping made by some quirky tumblr yaoi girl. If they wanted to make an anime focused on the Ramona Flowers, it would be better to make it the main focus, while Scott still fights with the evil exes or maybe show Ramona confronting with them after the battles. They tried to make it like Rebulid of Evangelion, but in RoE, they didn't kill Shinji in a second film and make him appear at the end of the fourth movie. Also, He-Man: Revaltions style bait-and-switch. How did Netflix get away with it?! Edit: I forgot to mention one thing - why does the fandom hate Scott for dating a high schooler, but when Kim Pine does that, it's just cute. No, it is not. The entire point of Scott dating Knives was to point out his desperation and being a bad person. It should be no diffrence for Kim Pine.
