HERE YOU GO SCOTT, THIS SUMS IT UP! “In The Last Quarter of Life” A lot of us are in the last quarter of life and I share without politics, religion, race cards. Just gentle thoughts: You know, time has a way of catching you off-guard about how quickly it travels. It feels like just yesterday that I was young and ready to start adult-life. And in a way it feels like eons ago, and I wonder where the years have gone. I know I lived them all. I remember all my hopes and dreams. I remember the plans I made. And suddenly, here I am in the last quarter. How did I get here so fast? Where have the years gone and where did my youth go? I can recall looking at older people, thinking how long it will take for me to get where they are. That I am still in my youth, that I have many years ahead. At that time, I could not even think of being where I am now. And yet, here I am. My friends are retired, they all have grey hair, they move much slower than they did and when I look at them, I see older people. Some are in a better and some a worse condition than me. But I see the big difference. They are no longer the youthful, carefree, full-of-life friends. Just like me, age shows. And we are now the older people we used to look at and thought it was still a long way off. I find that these days, taking a shower takes its toll on my breath and energy levels. And an afternoon nap is not just a treat, it’s become a necessity. And if I don’t, I find myself sleeping in the same chair I started reading or watching television in. Now I have entered this new season of my life, totally unprepared for the discomfort, aches and pains, loss of energy and strength and ability to do what I could, yet sometimes didn’t. At least I know that, even though I am in the last quarter, and I have no idea how long this quarter will be, when my time on earth is over, a new adventure awaits too. Yes, I do have things I wish I I had never done. Yet so thankful for those I did. It is all in a lifetime. And if you are not in the last quarter yet, I want to remind you that it comes faster than you could anticipate. Do the things you still want to do as soon as possible. Do not procrastinate. Life runs on fast legs. Do today what you can. There is no promise that we will all see the seasons of life. Live for today. For now. Say the words to the ones you love. Often. Hopefully some will appreciate the things you did for them. And if they don’t, it is also okay. Life is truly a gift. Just be happy. It is after all your choice. And remember that health is a treasure, not wealth, gold and silver, property or your bank balance. You may think that going out is the best, but believe me - coming home is better. You may forget names and that is okay, because some have already forgotten that they knew you. The things you cared about previously, you may lose interest in. If you fall asleep in your favorite chair, stay there. Growing older is wonderful. It is comfortable. It is loaded with memories that you never grow tired of. It is an absolute treasure. Look after yourself.

i'm a 65 year old man living in Florida on the central west coast. I'm retired. I have a great life by the beach. I'm very happy. I'm in great shape, 170lbs, 5' 11". What I've found out now is that I still try to do things I did in my 20's, 30's, 40's and even 50's. I'm starting to realize I can't do many of the things I did when I was younger and sometimes the hard way. I can't handle my boat as well. I can't drive my hot rods as well. I can't play guitar as well, I can't even swim as well. I used to get hit on by women all the time just going to the grocery store. I am realizing that I'm going to have to make some mental changes. I do have to laugh at the point of this story. I still live like I did when I was 18. I like my cigars and I like to drink. I still go to concerts and I still love new bands and music. It just sucks when I tell my body to do something and it says back to me, "I don't think so!"

In my mind I. still feel like Im 25 but i noticed lately that when i go down on my knees to pick something up, i have trouble getting back up. I haveyo hang on something to pull myself up. I never thought i was old till i had a job where coworkers younger than me were making comments to me about being their Grandpa's age, comparing me their parents, commenting on my gray hair or wrinkles, etc. I was quite taken aback & surprised to suddenly find out I was old because I didn't feel it. As an older person, you get overlooked, discounted, treated as if you're invisible, that you don't matter or have feelings. I find it sad but will continue to move forward & have goals.

My husband of 39 very happy years and I are in bed at 6pm just about every evening. One time my husband wanted to show off to our eldest daughter on how to use a punching bag. He went to kick it with one leg and the other leg followed and went airborne on his ass. It shook the entire house. 🤣😂🤣😂 He said the other leg was supposed to stay on the ground. I called him an old fart. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

I was lucky that I ruptured a disc when I was 17, so, pain is normal for me. At 72, the differences I feel are that what I used to accomplish in a day now takes me a week, a little bit at a time, and, when I trip and fall, the ground comes up at me a lot faster than it used to. However, my brain still thinks I'm 25. My Mom lived to 93, and said she always felt 25, and wondered who that old woman in the mirror was. Funny, ain't it.

I am almost 55 and feel like I am 25. I realized that I was an old geezer when I was getting a blood test, and they asked me my birthdate, and the guy in the next stall was 10 years younger than me. When he came out, I saw an old man wearing old man clothing, and I looked at myself wearing low-rise ripped jeans and a wife beater and cowboy boots. I thought to myself, what the heck happened?😅

I tell my kids they can enjoy getting older but stop dragging me with them! Now I have an 8 yr old grandson and it’s the best. Grandkids (once past 5 yrs old) don’t expect you to be as active as them or their parents because in their minds, you are ancient at just 60. 😂 Yes, having kids ravage our bodies but it’s worth it and hopefully, you’re husband appreciates those tiger stripes, the bigger hips, the not so perky boobs and/or the tummy pooch that never seems to go away. I tell my daughter that she and her brother caused every one of these gray hairs. Now my kids are in their 30’s and I still worry about them but I can put on my butt hugger jeans and boots to go out to have fun, travel, meet up with friends or just stay home with some wine and cheese for dinner without having to worry who has practice where, why isn’t so & so home from their date yet, who dented my car or who clogged the toilet with the hot wheels car. I get to sit back and listen to them tell me how their kid is driving them nuts.

Scott you are spot on. My husband and I feel the same way, 56 and 58 years old now. Stuff starts breaking down and as my husband says, once you get in your 50's the check engine light comes on. LOL and then it goes from there. We now go to more doctor appointments for annual stuff than we ever did. It is gradual getting older, but it's true, I notice that both of us have slowed down and definitely, slower to get out of bed, longer to get awake and dressed and even then, takes a while for me to even get excited to go out and shop or whatever, I tend to want to hang out at home.

Hi Scott. I am married, near 38 years; have 2 daughters who are 8 years apart twins personality wise for the most part; and I am 62 years old, but most people believe that I am about, on average, 15 - 20 younger than my actual age. I love it. One of my secrets is to my youthful look, and good health is that I am a naturalist. On just arthritis alone, to help prevent/fight it are 100% cranberry juice; red onions; blueberries; strawberries, cranberries; nuts; olive oil; Omega-3 supplement; Flaxseed; Vitamin E; Apples; Garlc; Ginger; Green Tea; Reg. tea; Broccoli; Brussels Sprouts; red/purple cabbage; rosemary; and Chamomile tea. Also quit smoking cigars. 💗💗💗💗💗😀

From the moment you have a child you worry. You'll worry about them all your life until you die. The older I get the more I hate the younger generation ~ they're all for the most part stupid, once in a great while you'll find one that was raised right. Talk about pain ~ if I'm moving, I'm in pain. I use a walker and every step is a step of pain. Up until I was 70 I was zipping around doing this and that, gardening, climbing ladders, etc. etc. But now it's a job just to get out of bed to pee. It just isn't fair to end a life in pain! Pray you and the family are well, take care ~ Lacy, Mike & Hamish🐾 🤗💕

Just do simple stretches, it doesn't have to be yoga and will take less time. I don't have kids myself but sometimes I feel older for other reasons. I used to go to the nearby library that had a high ceiling and too-good acoustics and lots of families would bring their young infants there and when they fussed about something it would echo through the entire place and I'd just want to go home lol But my brothers have kids and they can sort of look a bit older, even though we all have pretty good genes. I'm sure there are rewards to having kids too, I think parents just have to be more mindful of maintaining a balance between family time and personal time. Sometimes if you get to drinking more smoothies and taking more vitamins, it can give you more energy too. Not to look down on it, but I can sort of see how smoking cigars could play havoc with one's joints lol But I get it, it's a guy thing.

self-care and avoiding doctors(except for emergency care) are essential to remaining youthful in appearance & physically. If you neglect yourself, long enough, age will ravage you. Even Rob Lowe & George Hamilton, if they'd been welders, instead of actors, would've been unrecognizable. Good genes will only get you so far.

He's Italian I'm part Italian so I can say this. Italian men especially do not take aging well. I don't mean to say this in a harsh or mean way. I mean what man does right. As women we are faced with aging sooner and we grow old more gracefully we have to our bodies remind us quicker that were aging. I can tell he's a little insecure in himself just by watching him. And he cares a lot of what people think about him. He likes his family to represent him and look well. I know his daughter and wife has struggled with illnesses and I don't think he's been there to support them all the way like he should. But luckily I hear he has a very strong wife.looks are not everything in life at his age he should realize that. Time to grow up Scott baio. 🙄

I’m like Scott; 56 looking 40. You gotta physically work your butt off daily. The first thing that goes into your body in the morning is important: CoQ10, antioxidants, protein drink. Get to bed EARLY. Hard liquor, drugs, working in a building every day that never circulates in new air to breath, and smoking will age your cells, and thus you.
