    Glad you enjoyed it Jim! I have a few more in the works but need to familiar with some of the advance options first.

    Thanks for the tips.i never knew you had to use an attenuator on vat and purge solenoids. Thanks again.

    Many scope manufactures will say that you fine without because the amount of time the scope sees the high voltage is so short but I like to play it safe. I’ve had to send in my pico once because a channel quit working and I don’t know if it was a voltage spike or worn/broken bnc from 13 yrs of abuse.

    Thank for you making this very well detailed video, Chad. Safe to say that this scope doesn’t have the same mbits/sec and resolution as the Pico?

    I looked at the specs but I forget the speed and buffer size. I will check into it and maybe compare the two on some high speed networks

    You’re so soft spoken and easy to listen to 🥰….Wear your seatbelt (Speaking of taking measurements - where did you put the measuring tape that’s normally in the junk drawer? 🤨)

    Thank you Chad and Val. Off topic question. If you know, what brand of shop roll-up doors, with windows, are those in your shop? Have a God Blessed week.

    They are 12’x12’ insulated doors by Raynor. They were installed in 2004 when this shop was built and have been great. We recently replaced the lift assist springs because we had two fail over the last few years. The service company couldn’t match the springs exactly because of shortages so some of the doors no longer stay at the 1/2 open location. They have adjusted the springs several times but they either fall down from 1/2 open or slowly open themselves the rest of the way. We had the windows resealed once because they started to fog up. All in all they have been great doors.

    What do you think of the autel pc scope? I’d buy the scope your using in the video but can’t justify spending 3 or 4 grand for the whole set up with scanner and all when I use my cardaq with yearly oem subscriptions

    I have very limited knowledge of the autel scope. My brother has one so let me see if I can borrow it for some testing and I’ll let you know.

    So does the waveform in the video mean your sensor is bad? It’s not 0-5 volts. It said the waveform was 3.2 volts.

  • @ThePracticalMechanic

    This one was a known good. Even though it’s a 5 volt sensor most of the time they only sweep from .5-4.5. This is so the computer can tell what kind of circuit faults we have. If the signal voltage is below 0.5 the computer will set a short to ground or low voltage code, if the signal is above 4.5 the computer will open circuit or short to power code. That doesn’t mean the computer is always correct. If the 5 volt supply to the sensor is missing the signal will likely be 0 volts and not actually short to ground. If the ground supply is missing to the sensor the signal may be stuck at 5 volts even though the signal wire isn’t shorted to power.

    The launch only has a choice of 1x or 10x attenuator?

  • @ThePracticalMechanic

    @ThePracticalMechanic

    Ай бұрын

    The 1x is without an attenuator. The 10x is with an attenuator. If you want the numbers on the screen to match what you are measuring you should purchase a 10x attenuator. If you use a 20x attenuator you can select the 10x option but then you need to double the numbers displayed on the screen for accurate measurement.

    @@ThePracticalMechanic I'm glad I didn't buy the 20x. I don't want to have to calculate the numbers. What's the point paying all that money for a scan tool scope if you are so limited. Thanks for info.
