    So that's why my axle rattles down the dirt road. Spent ages trying to figure I out until one day I just grabbed the axle and wiggled it. It still works fine, but my guess is that brass bushing is fked.

    its funny every technician i know or have seen on KZread has that same hammer as I do. I just did my 03 Tacoma and my god it was in there i did everything possible. finally decided to cut the U-joint out with a cut off wheel and then hammered out the caps with heat.

    Bro I can’t believe what I’m watching there is no way you’re getting that thing running again. I don’t even know where to begin. No labeling, no proper diagnosis, what if the customer couldn’t afford extra work, dropped the timing guides. Unbelievable

    🤣 I’ve had dozens of these apart and often reassemble them after someone else has taken them apart. Vehicle was indeed reassembled and ran fine. Just because diagnostics wasn’t performed in this live stream doesn’t mean that diagnostics wasn’t performed.

    Would a generic j2534 cable that plugs into a laptop with pirated SSM4 software work to program keys on a 2015 outback you think?

  • @ThePracticalMechanic
    @ThePracticalMechanic9 күн бұрын

    I’m not sure if that would work or not. It’s possible. I know that the newer push button start models require an online connection and server key so you would likely be limited on newer vehicles. With non-genuine software there is no guaranty of any function working properly.

    Im sitting in my car with it refusing to start - the ignition doesnt seem to connect + although it seems tohave power. We tried to jump it but my friend said you have power to everything so its wierd. Just random all of a sudden I ve only had the car a month and everything was good or recently done (beaides needing a new cluster which i new and found at a pick and pull to go maybe pock this weekend) so Before calling a tow truck i goggled the issue to see if it was related to cluster and found you. Im hoping it might start again if i leave it over night to get me to a shop tomorrow and im going to recommend to them yr video. Hopefully i can afford to fix it all now thst you sepent the investigation time. Thank you

    Thank you Joe and the Practical Mechanic!! I think this just might be a fix! Did this yesterday to 2018 Crosstrek Premium, code P00019 that came on with a delayed oil change. Spent lots of money having a mechanic change cam oil exhaust solenoid, then stated didn't know what else to do. Took it to a Subi private mechanic who scoped and state absolutely everything in the engine is working as it should be but could not get the code to re-set. Used a ThinkDiag2 with iPhone, have so far driven 3 times about 15 miles total, power in lower gears is restored and no CEL light!!! The Subaru XV forum has deets on this but, if anyone is wondering: use your 30 amp spare fuse (in the lid of the fuse box) and your grey fuse puller (middle of lower row in fuse box). The test fuse open spot is the far left lowest (closest to you) spot. Thank you, thank you, thank you Practical Mechanic!!!!!!

    Tell me more!!!! Several have reported that it doesn’t work on the BRZ. Did your BRZ have the inspection mode fuse slot? I don’t have easy access to a BRZ for testing.

  • @lst_lt_dann8923
    @lst_lt_dann892318 күн бұрын

    @ThePracticalMechanic yes, mine had an inspection fuse spot. It's not labeled on the diagram... but as soon as I found the correct spot, the fans came on just like in your video. Then we followed the steps to a T and it changed my VVT's back to zero. The car is a 2017 86 (brz) 6m with a supercharger running an e85 tune with ecutek. I was worried about changing the ecm and losing tune. This solved the issue. Does the ecutek tune change anything? I don't know...

  • @lst_lt_dann8923
    @lst_lt_dann892315 күн бұрын

    @CasperVsTheWorldGaming it's right in front of the 30a DCC fuse. It's x'ed out on the diagram. The fans will run when you turn the key on, that's how you know it's the right one. As for the scanner, I'll have to get back to you on it. It was my cousin's scanner and I didn't see a model number on it.

    I had the same issue before with my 2012 impreza. I got a good/used original soleniod from ebay for CAD$200. Bought the gaskets and o-rings from the dealer for another CAD$150 and its been working without issues ever since. A new valve body + install is CAD$2500 from the dealer.

    What year was that truck? My 08 has had this problem, had the alcohol levels reset but I still get the code now and then and when I do I use my tuner to clear them. One symptom I've noticed is the tranny shifts hard when I have the code. What can I do to cure it permanently?

  • @ThePracticalMechanic
    @ThePracticalMechanic19 күн бұрын

    Depending on the tuner you can turn off flex fuel entirely. Some have an option to turn it off and some require you to edit the maps from the ecm. You might be able to request a custom tune from the device manufacture. You may have something else causing the lean condition that is the root cause of the flex numbers rising. Check for Vacuum leaks when cold, clean mass air flow sensor and throttle body and see if the problem is resolved. Toyota has the same issue from the tundra and sequoia and it is caused by a weak fuel pump. The pump may deliver too little volume on cold starts which leads to falsely assuming the presence of flex fuel.

  • @fisherguy
    @fisherguy17 күн бұрын

    @@ThePracticalMechanic, interesting. I cleaned the MAF anf throttle body the 1st time I had the codes again, didn't help. I had the alcohol levels rested about 18 months ago and since then I've had them come back, first for 1 bank then if I leave it for both. I've just been clearing them with my 'superchips' which clears the code and fixes the hard shifts. Frustrating, hope it's not the fuel pump, PITA to change.

    Brz cannot be done with scantool as far as I know. I do t have access to one for testing so I cannot confirm. I think the brz/FRS need to have the eeprom manually edited.

  • @ThePracticalMechanic
