Fun fact, Matthew Lillard (the actor who played shaggy) would go on to voice Shaggy in future animated Scooby Doo shows/movies after Casey Kasem passed away. Honestly he fits shaggy quite well

This is why this movie is more disappointing that the first. The first never had a chance, this one comes close to being good and is why it hurts more. There are legitimately funny lines in this movie and Matthew Lillard is great as shaggy (hence why he does the voice now). The plot is very clever and had tons of potential. As it is, the movie still isn't horrible, it's just not good either. The immature humor ruins it (fart, boob, and burp jokes weren't even funny to me as a kid and just made it awkward to watch with family).

I’d also probably throw in a few more iconic monsters, they had a bar full of the old enemies of Mystery Inc so why not have all of them get kidnapped by their own respective monsters and brought to the mine as a way to frame all of them for Jacobo’s crimes that way Mystery Inc saving them could explain why they’re suddenly ok with them at the end

JESS MOO Yes, because as we all know, it is impossible for a straight person to just not be interested in dating at the moment, or just not knowing anyone who is their type. I am not saying that being gay is particularly rare, but given that there are other explanations that are perfectly legitimate and common, I am just saying that there is not enough evidence to make much of a case one way or the other.

As bad as this movie is, I felt like this movie was better than the original Scooby-Doo movie. The characters were nicer to each other and actually acted like the real characters, the mystery was more of a mystery, the action was cool, and it just felt like a better adaptation in general. The original cartoons were fun, but let's face it, we always knew it was the creepy people of the episode behind the mask. Plus, these movies' successes reinvigorated the franchise, leading to more adaptations than ever. So yeah, the movies are crap. But they're good guilty pleasure movies.

It pokes fun at the original show without insulting it (something the first movie did that I didn't like) and some of the jokes and references are funny and clever. It feels like the people behind it actually cared at least a little about what they were doing, which I felt the first one didn't.

It's look like Inspector Gadget 2, which they also made in the same style of cartoon, with a bumbling protagonist and Dr. Claw on the shadows. So I always wonder why the producers only do a faithful adaptation of cartoons in sequels and not in the first movie as well.

  • @ColeVecsion

the silent hill sequel didn't stray far from the games and of course the bay produced ninja turtle sequel also tried to be more faithful to the cartoon, so yeah, people flip their shit on how bad/differant the 1st one is and hollywod knee jerk respnds by having the sequel be more faithful, UNFORTUNETLY first impressions still count and the sequel inevitibly does worse because everyone hated the first one Had studios done it right the first time these'd all be big hits from the get go, fucking morons

I have no idea why some people are angry at the lack of actual monsters. It was a mystery cartoon, so of course they were going to solve the problem. A story with actual monsters in it is only good as a highlight thing once in a while. If they were always monsters, there wouldn't be much of a mystory to it, so much as a monster hunt, and the scooby doo crew isn't really designed for monster hunting. Instead it was someone cleverly taking advantage of the tools available, and you the viewer had to figure out how and who....well, sometimes. Other times the excuses for how someone faked being a monster are pure bs. But the idea that it was a puzzle is still there.

Why are people still either offended by it or feel like they need to say how much they hate Pokemon? You would think that every regular watcher should know by now that Doug doesn't really care about Pokemon either way and he is just saying that to piss people off in character. What annoys me is that people still fall for it, as obvious as it is, so he uses the same tired joke over and over.
