The Curse of Crystal Cove Explained (Scooby-doo Mystery Incorporated Timeline Part 1)

Фильм және анимация

The curse of crystal cove is by far the most interesting part of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.
The curse of crystal cove is one that looms over the town and is responsible for many of the strange occurrences that happen to the townsfolk, it is responsible for the paranormal and inexplainable historical events that plague the town ever so often but more importantly the bone-chilling disappearances of every mystery-solving team that has ever tried to investigate it or the treasure that surrounds it.
Hello, my name is Crespo, and today I'll be explaining the origins of the curse of crystal cove, where it came from, how it came to be, and the mysterious entity that surrounds it.

A few things, if the video is glitchy, or has weird audio in some areas, it’s due to errors that came up when the video was processing so I could upload it to youtube. No matter how many times I’ve tried to upload, these weird little errors keep coming up after the processing period. So sorry about that. Secondly, this video is very surface-level in relation to the entire curse of crystal cove, as I said in the video I will be doing part 2 to this video which will be much more detailed and will delve into the lore much better than I do here. But for now, I just wanted to drop this little video. TOODLES!

I can't believe they cancelled this, it was, by far, the best incarnation of Scooby doo. The visuals were so beautiful, the music was amazing, everything was modernized just the right amount. The addition of the parents and the gang's relationships to them were not just filler, they made that world meatier, funnier. Not to mention the dynamic between the mayor and the sheriff, the two of them were the best of the supporting characters. And I love the fact that they gradually grew out Shaggy's hair, after he came back from military school, cartoons rarely do things like that; it's a nice touch, it adds a sense of realism

So true. The ending wasn't unsatisfying as it really just says "all-right now essentially the original show will happen and this is where they were headed" BUT it shows us nothing of what going where they were sent nor other supernatural or masked people being in places might actually mean. Could've been great, easily 2 more seasons, though topping the built up well but actual insanity of Season 2's ending with the entity might be hard and same with replacing the over-arching villians, though the other M.I. groups of the past could've been shown and connected more through travels and knowledge. Last good Scooby Doo-Show even made tbh, that isn't mediocre I mean not saying all following are awful, but even "What's New Scooby Doo?" was way better than anything following Mystery Incorporated. The newest one is disgusting (as in insulting, stupid, and awful meta humor plus endless race-swapping woke bs).

@@andreiselaru4374 Agreed, which is why I was both surprised and happy that Scooby promised that things would eventually turn around. Scooby generally doesn't go towards danger unless he has to, for him to promise to go after Pericles really shows how much he got under Scooby's skin. I suppose it wasn't too much of a surprise in hindsight that the mayor was the Freak, although it was a surprise that the Sherrif wasn't in on that plot. Although I suppose it makes sense, he didn't want anyone to know what he was doing which probably slowed him down somewhat. The only reason the Mayor got the disk piece he had was because the previous Mystery Inc found it, and Pericles helped to betray them. Still, I suppose that episode only served as a sort of appetizer for what was to come. In the episode where they went to Darrow Manor and got the disk piece from Danny, it really struck me just how dangerous things were getting. Especially when they questioned whether he saved them, or they saved him from something worse.

Good video breakdown. One person overlooked is that is in the episode Night on Haunted Mountain, while it does not directly show this, there are some hints that the woman on the mountain, Boron, might be the ghost of one of the members of the Mystery Gang (the cowgirls). The freckled member, Carley. She had is the same color hair, just shorter, and she is a middle-age woman, show she put on a little weight. Boron appears and disappears while the gang is not looking. Her explanation is clearly a lie. She might have actually found the ship, only to not survive the traps inside. Given another ghost was shown at the end of the episode, it is possible.

Not only did Mystery Inc enrich the already amazing Scooby Doo universe by fleshing out the characters, making them more realistic and with their own personalities, goals and agendas, but it also added a superb layer of mystery and lovecraftian horror to the mix. Every episode felt like a piece to a grand puzzle, a puzzle you unlocked together with the characters, a crew that not only dealt with the mysteries but their own teenage years and the confusion/insecurities that entailed but also family drama and love lives. It reminded me a lot of Stranger Things/Pennywise. This is how you make a passion project, a labor of love, this is truly a show written by someone who loves and understands the Scooby Doo universe, unlike Velma. Velma failed even in its own and only goal, trying to make white people look bad, because they made everyone unlikable. Mystery Inc schooled once again the media on how you make a strong and awesome black character with Angel Dynamite, a character with a mysterious yet incredible backstory that was another piece of the puzzle.

Honestly out of the entire scooby doo franchise, this particular series was probably one of the most well-written and is one of the very rare few shows that perfectly balanced the show appeal to both the youth (through goofy interactions and character designs) and the older audience (mysteries and references along with a LOT of dark moments that children could easily overlook).
