As someone born in 1964, I've been watching (and a fan of) Scooby-Doo in all it's formats since it first started airing. This... was... brilliant... Scooby as a retired police dog just makes so much sense... and with Shaggy as the son of the sheriff, automatically makes you aware how they must have met up. Best Fred of *any* of the series... Starting with him and Velma first was smart, too... Gave a chance for her to be a feature, and not just treated as the 'nerd girl'. Having Daphne be the 'klutz' on purpose was kind of neat, considering how she's often treated in the series. I am so invested in this show, that I'm headed over to Indiegogo to help continue it!

UPDATE : March 18,2024 " Sorry for the gap between updates. The strike threw us all for a loop and as a project under SAG we wanted to make sure we were standing in line with all of our brothers and sisters in both the SAG and WGA strikes. After the strikes, things got crazy. Our director Dante is still in Canada as the strikes delayed most everything that was in production at the time including the things he's been working on. Once we have updates on his return we'll have updates as to when we can resume production. There's also much more happening behind the scenes that unfortunately we aren't able to speak on as of yet but we are hoping these things will finalize soon and we can share them with you all. Sorry for the lack of updates, we're working as hard as we can and it can be a mentally exhausting task to feel like we are coming back to you guys with no progress when really we've been working exhaustingly fighting towards every avenue for this project. This randomly popped up in my KZread suggestions. I watched the introduction with Fred with subs and no volume to see if it looked good. It did, so I ended up actually watching it. I was fully engaged by the time we cut away from Daphne's house. THREE MINUTES and I couldn't look away for nearly AN HOUR. Very intriguing, an amazing amount of respect to the characters, great acting, filming looks wonderful, costume designs look realistic yet recognizable as the traditional looks, and the writing is so well done. I will say that Fred dropping that swear at the miner didn't feel right for his character even given his age and circumstances. He's just always been the one character I could never picture swearing unless he were utterly surprised by a life-threatening situation. He chose his words carefully there, though. BUT other than that, pure perfection! I especially love how Shaggy is a drug dealer through being bullied. It ties in the common fan misconception about him being a druggy while also staying true to the fact that he never was. lol, It's like a metaphor for the character feeling bullied into the druggy persona by casual fans. 😂That's deep, dude. 😐

The sheer amount of references in this episode is actually insane! I've decided to make a list of the ones I saw. 1) Shaggy's dad being a cop as he was in an episode of one of the early series. 2) The dealer's joy juice is a reference to Flim-Flam's lotsa luck joy juice from 13 ghosts. The dealer also wears a yellow hoodie, like Flim-Flams yellow hooded jumpsuit. 3) The book Fred and Velma find in the bookstore resembles Sarah Ravencroft's spell book from witches ghost and the chest of demons from 13 ghosts. 4) Velma references Jonothan Jacobo as being haunted by the pterodactyl ghost. Jonathan Jacobo was the original pterodactyl ghost in monsters unleashed. 5) Velma also references Ben Ravencroft, a character from witches ghost. 6) The hex girls. This goes without saying. 7) The hex girls sing the song 'hex girl', from witches ghost. Again this is obvious. (Also the actresses absolutely nail the song!) 8) The 13 pillars Velma mentions are likely a reference to the 13 ghosts of Scooby Doo. 9) Fred deciding to split up with Velma just as he does in most Scooby Doo media (also they make a great duo in this) 10) Miner 49er is a classic scooby doo where are you! villain. Another obvious one. 11) Shaggy making a giant, multilayered sandwich toward the end of the episode. 12) Thorn speaks of 'high priest Van Ghoul', a reference to Vincent Van Ghoul from 13 ghosts. (Also the person on the phone to Velma's mother sounds somewhat like Vincent Price... coincident?) 13) The black knight ghosts brief cameo at the end. 14) As suggested, his lawyer is Harvey Birdman (how did I even miss that?...)

Man what the hell, this was so fucking awesome. I've been a Scooby Doo fan for as long as I can remember and this is actually so perfect. They actually managed to impose the ideas and characters into real life, while keeping it both realistic and in character. Not only that, they actually captured the high school aspect of in a realistic and adult way, without coming across as cringy, trying too hard or cynical. So many great references for fans as well. My only critisism, if you can even call it that, is that it has been nearly two years since it was uploaded and there has not been any more. I really hope that this can keep going. Velma's spell will continue to work as it did in that scene and Fred will be released from Miner 49er's clutches. Just an opinion👍

I see some comments saying this should be picked up by Netflix or another streaming service, but I think not. It deserves a higher budget but the suits need to let the director and writers keep full control of this. They know exactly what they’re doing, and they’re doing it right. GREAT JOB!
