Al Pacino won his first Best Actor Oscar® for his brilliant portrayal of an overbearing, blind retired Lieutenant Colonel who hires a young guardian (Chris O'Donnell) to assist him. It's a heart-wrenching and heartwarming tale of opposites attracting when they embark on a wild weekend trip that will change the lives of both men forever.
Charlie Simms is a student at the Baird School, an exclusive New England preparatory school. In order to afford a plane ticket to visit his family for Christmas, Charlie takes a job consisting in watching Frank, a blind, retired military man. Shortly after Charlie arrives, Frank unexpectedly takes him on a trip to New York City, where the two enjoy the city’s most luxurious places. However, things take a turn for the worse when Frank reveals that he’s planning on killing himself at the end of the trip.

Al Pacino one of the greats love him!
I wish I could see 10 perfect scenes like this. Not only an emotional scene but also a very well-played one by the actors especially Al Pacino. This scene masterly completes the movie's storyline.
Such a great performance from the great Al Pacino!
This clip should have also included the committee's decision, Pacino's shout, and the guys cheering.
I have seen this clip a hundred times since watching the movie a decade back. Makes me emotional every time.

Reminds me of Scent of a Woman when Al Pacino gives that EPIC speech at that boys prep school. He makes a DOPE closing argument!! The students erupt in cheering and clapping. I mean..they go apes-! The dean of the school starts banging his gavel and demanding that they stop. Al Pacino looks at Charlie and says, “Nothing can shut them up, sir.” Barry…NOTHING CAN SHUT US UP. There are plenty of copies that don’t have the words censored how about not being a political nut job and blaming everything on a liberal. Cause if you took your head out your ass you would see conservatives don’t care about you either. End of the day if you aren’t part of the top 1-5% you don’t matter you are just a vote with a loud mouth.
