That's funny because Physio Fitness says to do to exact opposite when doing push ups. They say let the scap come together at the bottom and let it open and seperate at the top.

Yeah I swear no one can agree on whether you retract your scap at the bottom of a push up or not. Imo it makes sense to retract because your scaps are supposed to move in tandem with your arm but also retracting your scap allows you to stretch your chest more at the bottom of the push up

Latissimus dorsi muscle doesn't pull the scapula down, it is attached to the upper arm.

i dont think that's what he means. I think he means that by engaging the lats ur scapula will have to be somewhat depressed. It's kinda hard to acess any power from the lats when the scapula is elevated and the arms are stretched.

at 3:45 it mentions that it's failure that scapula moves during push up. Something along the same lines is mentioned at 5:35. Why is it considered a failure?

is shrugs on dip bars a good exercise? ie 2min37, feels good though, like to do them in both shoulders pulled back then push down and shoulders rounded in and push down. is this likely to set me up for injury? i only train sometimes, I should be more consistent. I do this because dips give me lots of elbow pain. I can't do cable tricep or too many push ups.
