Poor Ollie, he looked like he was sad, missing Mary and Peter in those pictures. That's unconditional love right there! Oliver may be a service dog but that doesn't mean every single place is set up for animals, like amusement park rides, concerts, etc. Plus, it's actually healthy for a service animal to take breaks from time to time. They're constantly working to protect their human so a vacation is good even though it's sad to leave our pets (family) behind. ❤

I honestly really appreciate how loving they are with Ollie. They don't treat him like a dog that works for them. It's so so so sweet that they'd give him a vacation too, considering he works every second of every day. I know he loves his job, I have a service dog too! But I also think hed love a few days off

to everyone who is questioning why they aren't taking him, remember Ollie is a service dog and he works hard for Mary everyday. He deserves a brake as much as any of us do. Also Peter is still there with Mary so she has someone to help her. Just keep in mind he is a hard working dog. And does amazing things. He will enjoy his 5 days of running and playing all day. 💖

Seeing people question Mary's need for a service dog simply because she's not taking Ollie with her makes me sad and angry. Mary and Peter teach love and tolerance, and this is how you treat them in return? This is how you treat US, as in all us service dog handlers? What a shame. Learn how service dogs actually work, and stop harassing people based on your ill-informed opinion.

CollieMonster Thanks for saying that! Peter and Mary have opened up their lives to us so that we can learn about them and give us strength to "do what you think you can't do". This is a place for love, respect, support and joy. I love reading the comments and learning about other Frey Lifers, we have important issues to discus and debate but we can do so while being considerate of each others needs and opinions. Good grief all of this hate comments about Ollie not going. I understand that there are places that wouldn't be safe for even a service dog, not legally allowed, and service dogs (and SD in training like my guy) are living breathing beings that need time off. I am sure he is enjoying his vacation as you are enjoying yours. I can't do facebook live but will be waiting for tomorrows video!

Yesica1993 It is when people are saying she doesn't need a Service Dog simply because she is leaving him behind. I call that hatred! What if she is going on a cruise ship? Where can a dog use the bathroom on a ship in the middle of the ocean? When people make sweeping comments like that when they don't have the entire information, I call that hatred!

Why do people have to be so rude and question the need for Ollie to be with her instead of with her friend? She doesn't need to have him with her at all times. They're on vacation, which means Peter will be with her at all times. Anything Ollie could do Peter can do (and more). And if you have never traveled with a service dog, you can't really question it. People do not understand Service Dog laws. It can be difficult to travel, especially air travel, with a service dog. And if the dog can have their own mini vacation, why not? Ollie works hard around the clock for Mary. He deserves a vacation too, a not working vacation. With their friends, he is getting just that. :)

I completely agree!

It is so hard to leave your service dog! I feel like I left my shadow at home anytime I am without Reilly. It is a feeling no one who is not a handler can understand; it is sooo much worse than leaving a pet! I hope you have a wonderful trip and can relax knowing Ollie is in good hands!

I absolutely love Ollie so much. just the way that whenever he gets excited he does a little head tilt is just so adorable! he seems like such a sweet lovable dog.

Also as a chronic headache and migraine sufferer if you are taking Tylenol everyday you could be getting rebound headaches. Something to look into 💜

She needs her dog for forward momentum and he is also a mobility dog. He also helps with her " diabetes " I can't spell what it's actually called for her but same idea. He can also carry stuff for her and I think kinda a emotional support dog because olie makes her happy!

Monkeys Are cool Emotional support is something dogs gives an owner for support and comfort but service dogs cannot be listed as emotional support animals/ service dogs (hopefully that made sense). It's a misunderstanding many have with service dogs vs emotional support animals but they are much different. 😊

They do vlogs yes, because they love doing them and to help and help others become aware of cystic fibrosis. But people please, being critical or judgmental on any social media, I ask you - 'whose needs are you fulfilling?' Cause I know it's not for the benefit of The Freys - think about it. I'm sure you are all very good people, so be good 😃

I'm pretty sure Ollie is the smartest dog I've ever seen in my life. Including my own dogs. You know how people think their dog is the smartest dog in the world? Nope. Your dog! You can see it. You can just see it. Soooooo smart!

Have a great trip! I have two dogs and have never left them, they have always gone with us for the past 5 years. I had a dog before these two and use to word him. He hated it and I hated doing it to him so I vowed this time around to never do it and have kept my word so far. We rent dog friendly places and they get to go, too!

Oh the joys of packing and traveling when you have a chronic medical condition.... I feel you Mary.

Until you have a chronic illness you are no way qualified to sit in judgement and even then each person has their own circumstances. Mary and Peter have chosen a public life to encourage those who are ill or help educate and teach tolerance. You should be ashamed to bully people you in no real personal way know. You only know what they share. I do not share my bad days all the time with my immediate family or best friends so strangers will not know every detail. It's important to remember that we are going to be judged by our Heavenly Father with the measure in which we judge others I know I so want Gods abdunt Grace and Mercy so unless we are all walking so upright and perfect we need to be kind snd less Judge mental. Mary and Peter Thank you for what you do. I have liver disease and am going to need transplant at some point so appreciate your positivity.

Mary thank you for the idea with the little pill bags with candy. My dad is a type 2 diabetic and I always try to have something with me in case he needs it. The bags would be perfect to keep in my bag or a pocket. Excited for the trip. Ya'll deserve it.

There is a huge number of reasons why a Service dog can't go on this trip. Example: If this trip is to Hawaii, it is almost impossible to take a service dog there, as it is a rabies free island there is a quarantine and shot protocol that is impossible to do short notice. It also leaves a handler without their service dog when they get to Hawaii for many days. This of course is just one example. As a service dog handler there are places that I will never go to because I can't take my dog. That's just life. I am glad Mary is going on a trip!

Mary, like you I get sad when I have to leave my guide dog with someone, even for a few hours. I hate leaving him, but I know when I do leave him, it's for a good reason. My mother in law made a little story booklet for each of my dogs when I've had to leave them with her- sort of a "what I did at Gramma's" booklet. I wonder if you guys could do that for Ollie.

Traveling can be very difficult--with or without our medical devices, service dogs, etc. I see that a break can be good--it is very hard on both the dogs and ourselves to be working together in the public eye continually. You and Peter are the model for others' marriages, and I love seeing how you give light to each other (and how you light up) even on the most difficult of days. I love watching Mary's accomplishments. And doing small tasks for ourselves, pacing ourselves gently, is an accomplishment! And an act of love toward others--to make our homes beautiful and peaceful havens, to express our creativity, to reduce the workload of others at times that we can.

Also, have faith and be the you that you are and that God loves and your family and friends love. We cannot please everyone--but we can educate over time--as we have energy, pacing ourselves, at less busy/important times.

I absolutely adore you both! I don't remember how I found your channel but I am so happy I did! Peter is such a great husband being so happy to help you in any way you need and support you to have a happy and fulfilling life!! I had a lot of breathing problems in high school but the doctors believed I was okay after lots of tests and watching you tackle your struggles every day is extremely inspiring. I hate packing, it takes me FOREVER. I'm a perfectionist, so everything has to be organized and sorted and alike things "grouped" together, in the little packing pods. I'm just as bad when I get to the hotel, I Lysol wipe everything, including the drawers and have to be very organized at the hotel, I can't stand "hunting" for things, and not knowing where things are at the hotel! My guess is that you are going to something CF related, a seminar or conference?

Last time I left my pup at home when I went somewhere (MD->TX) I was constantly texting my friend who was house sitting and begging for pictures of my baby. The dancing reminded me of middle school haha! ❤️ but I do love the music that was playing. *note to self* I need to order some things from your store when it reopens. Where oh where are you going, Freys? 😂 Thank God it's Sunday, I can use Facebook tonight to find out! (I gave up social media for Lent, but Sundays don't count!) I get what you're saying Mary. You would hate to look back on this trip and regret it because it possibly caused a decrease in your lung function. If your lung function is already declining, it's not because you went on the trip. God speed you guys and have fun!

Yes he has a couple of times that I remember. When he was brought back from Chicago from the trainer Mary met them at the airport and it was actually caught on video and on the Today Show or Good Morning America with the title Reunions or something similar. Peter was still in Scotland finishing his degree. Another trip they showed them all going through TSA checkpoint and Ollie laying down on the plane.

What on earth is going on! Stop with the negativity. If you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all! You don't have to watch! I hope you both have a awesome time! Ollie needs a break to :)

God so many people angry about Ollie not going. Sometimes it's really difficult to bring a dog, each disability is different and it's not like she has a seizure disorder that requires an alert in advance to make sure she's safe. I have a SDiT for a plethora of problems and sometimes I don't take him with me some places, especially because he's in training. Ollie is safe and happy and Mary has Peter as a service human, that's all that matters.

You guys are adorable! You make me smile more every day!

This is so freaky, I could smell bananas in my room when you were packing Peter those banana Runts. My favorite too. And when I was at the pharmacy the other day I bought that little box of drawers for my son, he is a gardener and uses it for his seeds collection. I also bought the pill pouches to take my daily meds with me if I go out. Have fun on your trip, can't wait for FB Live. Im ready.

I know it's fun for them but I hate when KZreadrs say "guess where we're going" and stretch it out. I can't always watch every vlog or check social media every day. I wish they would just say "we're going here" so I don't always feel like I'm missing a ton of stuff. 😟
