I was made to be an archivist. I learnt today that I'm going to have to retake my second year of university due to mental health issues. Now I have to plan out what I'm doing with the next few months, and keep up the fight for treatment that I've been trying to do since September. I've had to intermit uni for anorexia, and now for depression, but I will get there! 'Do what you think you can't do' has become my mantra, thank you for being there Frey Life x

I was made to be my son's mother. Not just a mother but specifically my son's mother. His creation was very unexpected, I thought I would never have children, and since the day he was born, people, especially children and the very old, are very drawn to him. I know that God put me on this earth to raise this young man who is going to do something very special.

Mary, I was just thinking, if you are using meds for your headaches daily, you may be having rebound headaches. I get them if I use meds for my headaches often. The rebounds are way worse than the original headache.

I'm always getting headaches from coughing (or from the constant sinus infections). Never heard of a rebound headache, what is that? OK...just went to Mayo clinic website and now know what rebound headaches are. Mary uses Ibuprofen and it says it is low risk for it. She does take 2 other meds once in a while but I don't remember what she called it. Hopefully shell pop in and answer u. Curious minds wanna know. ;)

annaroseannadanna I started going to CHIRO ONE it has helped my neck pain, headaches, and sinuses. The chiropractor adjusts my neck and spine. Then I do the physical therapy there, to strengthen the muscles in my neck and spine. So the muscles memory hold the adjusted spine. Or you could always look up neck physical therapy videos on KZread.

I'd recommend seeing a physio. There are simple exercises that you can do that won't take that long and don't require any fancy equipment. A good physio after examining your neck will give you specific ones. One approach could be to strengthen the deep neck flexor muscles, that way the superficial muscles can relax better. They might also check whether there is hypo- or hypermobility in your neck? The downside of seeing a chiropractor is in my opinion that you might get reliant on them ( i.e. you have to see them often or even regularly). In addition, there is a risk with neck manipulations, especially if done for the upper cervical spine (if that is a treatment route a chiro would want to take?). I don't want to bash anybody or turn this into a discussion about chiro vs physio. Since so many people recommended seing a chiro, I just wanted to give a different viewpoint on this. Everybody obviously has to choose what seems best for them.

I'm 26 and I still wonder what I'm made to do. I feel bad because this sparked a bit of panic. I'm $50,000 in debt for engineering and maths but it isn't for me. I'm about to graduate but I feel stuck. I'm scared I'll end up in a cube typing away for an automotive company - which I sit and argue that i can't complain - I will have work. But. I'm sick too. I found out after months of testing and guessing that I have neuromyelitis, I have panic disorder, agoraphobia, and I want to help people. I had to miss class yesterday because I was ill. I just woke up at 4PM wondering how I'm going to do this. I wonder what God has in store for me. I dream of being a photographer. Dreamt of it my whole life - but I went blind from the myelitis under 2 years ago and there's a strong chance I'll lose my sight again and again until it disappears entirely. Then again, i know photography is a dream and not entirely sustainable. I apologize Community. I just do wonder. What do you do when you're trapped in student debt with a degree you don't particularly enjoy, and told your dreams may not be feasible otherwise because those eyes will shut down more and more. I'm so grateful I had gotten an education even if it cost me 30 years of debt, and I'm grateful I will get to work and such, but my heart will break. I'm sorry Frey family if I ruined this. Lots of love to all.

Sounds all too familiar. What type of engineering are you going for and how far from graduating are you? The beauty of engineering is we devise new ways of working with things. Your perceived weaknesses can become your strengths if you can get into the right sort of role.

  • @song5361

utube101x I'm in computer science engineering with a second degree in mathematics. I guess the problem was that I came from a pretty poor family, so I was pushed into engineering as opposed to spending some time figuring things out. I had to run off of student loans and grants so I couldn't turn back. Now my father as passed and my mother is just about to, so I REALLY can't turn back. I am petrified that I'll have a flare up and lose my job, or I'll have a panic attack and cause issues. I'd do anything to be a strong, working individual. Thank you very much. I am looking into health IT and maybe trying to find ways into assisting with adaptive technology for those less able bodied. I'm 3 classes away. Broken up into 2 semesters while we figure out a treatment plan and I go through an eye surgery to fix some damaged tissues from my first flare. It's close! I do feel privileged regardless, because I was blessed to get an education regardless of the fact that I succumbed to debt, but in reality, it's no worse than a mid-level car and much less than a home. I just wish I was able to choose something that would be helpful to people directly. I've been playing with cameras my whole life and I wish more than anything that I could spend my energy and what's left of my eyes to share our world to as many people as possible. I don't want a lavish life, I just want a roof, food, and to see people smile.

recycleonwednesdays thank you very much. I guess my issue is I didn't have too much of a choice. I ended up in computer science and engineering because it is versatile and can change with the times because my family is gone. Unfortunately when I first went blind, they weren't sure I was going to get my sight back at all and they broke it to me that photography might be something I have to give up. I do have to get eye surgery and hopefully that will fix some of the damage done before. But I feel like I'm playing a waiting game. I do feel blessed that I got an education. Not everyone gets one. Even if I had to go through government loans, i got an education. I just do wish I had more time to see what I could do. Thank you so much for your reply. It helped a lot. I will continue to do my best for the people around me.

I have no idea what I was made to do, and I will be 36 in April. I was raised in a cult, I have PTSD, BPD, GAD, Major Depressive Disorder, possible attachment disorder and agoraphobia (I can leave the house and I work outside the house but I have a MAJOR fear of people). My service dog in training (owner training) helps but he is still early in the training and we are still learning how to calm down around people so he can't go into many places with me yet but when he can that will help a great deal. I also fell 3 stories and now have chronic pain, I have a pain pump in me delivery medication directly to my spine and neuropathy down my legs. I cannot do much physically which is by itself depressing. It is predicted I will be at least partially wheelchair bound in as little as 5 years. I am an artist and I also build and program computers. I also love learning and so I am always learning something new (like the last was how to pick locks and now I am learning paracord knotting and will be making a lot of things needed for my service dog in training to help me mobility wise). But yeah, I am still learning who I am outside of what I grew up in.

recycleonwednesdays Thank you! I forgot to say in that comment that The Frey Life's "god talk" is the only one I don't bolt from lol. I think I have said that before though when its my real name I am hesident to say it. My family all don't believe me so its hard. If you asked my therapist he would say I was put here to be a dog trainer as I apparently have a knack for it (owner training my service dog in training). Its so nice, aside from the major pain I have, to not just benefit from his tasks but also from the exposure this is giving me and just the training itself is very benefital. I say it mocks DBT quite well. Anyway, thank you for your kind comment!

I was made to be a Geologist. I've wanted to be a Geologist since I was 10 years old when my aunt and uncle took me to the Mt. St. Helens visitors center. I remember just being fascinated by the concept of volcanoes and earthquakes and it was that day that I decided that I wanted to be a Geologist. 10 years, 13 surgeries and 9 kidney stones later and I am going to my dream school pursuing a degree in geology. I have encountered many setbacks but I keep going because this is what I was made to do. I love rocks so much that I make my own (in my kidneys).

You really help put things into perspective for me Mary. Here I am worrying about gaining 5 pounds which is unnoticeable and I can only tell from the scale. I'm still healthy over here and I know you would be ecstatic to gain those pounds. I should be happy to have the priveledge to go out and enjoy good food and gain that weight. I know I can lose it if I want to and being five pounds heavier than normal has no effect on anything. Anyways, I just want you to know how amazing you are and how much you really do help people every day even in ways you don't know of. Thank you Mary❤

I was meant to be a nurses aid. Did it for 30 yrs. And then arthritis got the best of me and could no longer do that type of work. Went back to school & became a CRTA (Certified Restorative Therapist Aide) and did that for 10 yrs until I could barely walk. Now I sit at home & watch your video's. It helps tremendously with my depression. I just went to your website & watched the 2/19/17 sermon of Peters and loved it. My preacher gave a sermon on prayer last year that really touched me. I no longer go to church because I can't sit comfortably in the pews. I fidget and reposition...I know it's distracting to the other ppl even though I always try to sit on the back row. It's still distracting to the ppl sitting in the same row. I've tried several other churches but truthfully there are not many baptist churches in my city, at least none that I wouldn't have to drive 20-30 minutes to get to. I also have anxiety/panic issues so I usually don't go too far out of my comfort zone. I tried watching church on tv and it all seems so fake I gave up on it. Tried a few podcasts and it wasn't for me. Now I can go and watch Peter preach. I'm so excited. I really enjoyed the 1 I watched! Thanks Peter!!!

I never thought I was smart enough to be one growing up since I had a learning disability and when I finally started veterinary school I thought my dream of being in private practice was gone because the extend of my mitochondrial disease reared its ugly head. Now that I am 5 years out of vet school and six months in to being a full time emergency veterinarian I know this is what I was meant to be doing. Granted I have had nights that I see a patient, lay on the treatment room floor for twenty minutes because I was vomiting half the night and I was tachycardic and hypotensive but I get through it. It has taken TPN, IVIG, lots of PT, and way to many meds to get me here but it is what I am meant to do.

today i feel i need to go watch a sermon. i was put here to serve. when younger i was in service in the medical field. then, after injury i continued to teach and care for children who were not in school yet. now, by God's grace im serving by making hats for my community. and giving to those who would not have a hat otherwise (homeless, birthing center and NICU, cancer center, and schools for grades k - 6. im working with friends who donate yarn and i knit or crochet. this is a miracle as in march of 2015 i became paralyzed from the neck down and by gods grace and mercy it was reversed. i have spent the last 2 years reprograming my body and im still working on some issues, buti can continue to use my hands to knit or crochet or sew or quilt. i can use my arms to give a hug. i can use my legs to walk to deliver the hats (only short distances at this point, but working on endurance). i would never ask for this again, but i would never change it if i could because of all the amazing things i have seen and learned. im here to be in service of others...however God decides to use me.

Mary I recommend going to a chiropractor! If you find the right one that's gentle enough (or whatever you need) it can be super useful! I hated going until i found a chiropractic college where there were lots of nice ladies in like their 20s that i found where gentle enough but still very effective (lol not trying to sound creepy, I'm only 15)

You could also get checked my a chiropractor if you don't already. We swear by adjustments. They really help my wife's back, sciatic, and neck pain as well as allowing muscles to relax that have tightened as her coughing has pulled her spine out of alignment. She also occasionally dislocates ribs coughing and the chiropractic adjustments relieve that pain by putting the ribs back in place.

To everyone who liked and commented on my post - thank you! :D I'm overwhelmed by your support x I thought I would share something that followed from me logging on to view all your comments :) Something made me search for the end of The Frey's trip to Scotland. I'm no longer religious myself but this blog really spoke to me. To clarify I had to fight to overcome anorexia to make it to university I have now had to return home half way through my second year due to complex mental health conditions including depression. But when Mary and Peter said in this blog that having to go back from Scotland was not failure but part of the journey I had to rewind and listen again. It is so consoling to me that they could see this as part of their plan, and look at the immediate challenges and not force themselves to know what they can't. This video, and your comments have really helped me to begin to accept that I am in the right place to look after me, and to take one day at a time x I hope you can all find peace where you are :)

I might try going to a chiropractor once to see if that helps. I was totally against chiropractic manipulation but it has become one of the only thing that helps me. I see a specialized physiotherapist who does it. I know when my upper back or neck vertebrae are stuck in the wrong place and/or not moving I get a bad headache and my muscles get so tight because they are being stretched too much and in the wrong way. I would try one session and see if your muscles relax and your headache goes away. Do you have normal range of motion in your neck?

For your neck pain, I would recommend a chiropractor. I don't know if y'all have "the joint" where y'all live, but it's a chiropractor that has offices everywhere and you get a key card (like a gym membership) and go when ever and to what ever location you want to go! It's supper great! I have IC and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and it helps me soooo much!!

Watching your videos reminds me of why I became a doctor and, more importantly, the kind of doctor i promised myself I'd strive to be. I'm a couple of years into surgery residency and about to be unemployed in four months (long story about how residency works, and how messed up our medical education system and medical system in general can be). It's hard to express everything that's going on in my life succinctly, but I just wanted to thank you. I started watching your videos in january of 2016 and they've helped me through a lot of moments of doubt and a lot of rough, long hours spent at the hospital. It's sometimes all too easy to forget about the patient on the other side and lose sight of why we do what we do. Thanks and all my sincerest best wishes as you go through your journey!

You won't believe how amazing you'll feel....yes....your strong coughing surely could be putting you out of alignment. Our chiropractor has a massage therapist in the office...sometimes I get a massage first then get adjusted but mostly I just get adjusted.

Neck Muscles! I am a Kinesiology student and chronic tight neck muscles cause frontal headaches, I don't just know this through school but I get them too! something that helps is taking a tennis ball (but more firm - i like a large bouncy ball) and roll it over those muscles (origin of your trapezius at the occipital protuberance pretty much) but only for a few minutes, don't overdo it! Careful with stretching as it can be tedious and more harmful if not done correctly, don't just throw your neck around because it feels good. Hope this helps!

I was born to be a RN and have always loved taking care of people. I treat each patient as if they are my family and love to use my God given gifts with all of those around me. It also allowed me to care for my father in his last days and not have to bring a stranger into our home to care for him, loved this experience but that being said it was really hard. I think back now and most of the time think of the funny or weird situations that came up. At work I find satisfaction in doing my job well and being an advocate for all of my patients and sometimes their family.

Sorry about your neck Mary! Mine definitely causes my headaches sometimes! Look up Homedics vibrating massagers. I have their ball-shaped one so I can lean my neck back on it with no hands. When I get migraines it also helps to hold it on my head over the sore area because it kind of overwhelms the pain sensors and takes the edge off. While massages are great, please be very careful if you go to a chiropractor. I went and let him adjust my neck, and it upset the crystals in my ears and I had terrible vertigo for about 8 weeks afterwards! (I saw an audiologist/ENT and a neurologist to be checked out and that's the only thing we can figure, since it started the next day.) I couldn't drive or anything! I was made to work at a daycare. It was the best days of my life, being in a room full of ten toddlers. Unfortunately I'm in too much pain for that now. :(

I had a severe headache with muscular issues and had to get cortisone shots but he also told me some neck and shoulder exercises I could do at home and that has helped a lot. I was made to be a surgeon. I cannot imagine doing anything else. To hold someone's life in your hands is such a huge blessing and responsibility. When I was in high school I went to a mini med school day at my local college and also dream medical school. Part of our day was to see and hold the organs from the first year's gross anatomy lab. I was over the moon excited and as intellectually stimulated as I was it was such a spiritual moment. That was the first time I held a human brain. I held in my hands what was someone's entire life. Every thought they ever had, every person they ever loved, every choice they ever made was right there and it was beautiful. Immediately after I got to hold a heart which is my dream. I want to be a cardiothoracic surgeon. I cried for a long time. I was so excited and overwhelmed. That was everything I could ever dream of and yet someone had to die to give me that experience. I will never forget that moment for as long as I live but I know for sure that I was made to be a surgeon.
