I'm a 75 y/o retired research biochemist who started making and playing the Native American Style Flute back in 2016. When I wanted to play in a different key, I had to make another flute. When the Mini came out, I bought it and discovered I could assign the fingerings to resemble the NA flute and with the App I could play in any key I desired. In addition I can play in three octaves…can't do that with the NA flute. The App's 50 sounds just make playing the Mini all that more fun. When I realized the six main fingerings were the same as the sax, I then purchased your Pentatonic courses to learn more. For me, the Aerophone Mini is the perfect option…I love it!!! You are a fine instructor. Thank you for all you offer.

I own one of these and I love it. I'm a bass player, so this was a fast way of getting into a breathing type of instrument. I disagree that it's only for casual use though. I play it in a professional band and gig with it (jazz). And it sounds much better through a sound system than through its own speaker. Sometimes I don't see the point of learning more complex fingerings for sax or other instruments because I can do three octaves on this little bad boy. I didn't know it could be used as a midi controller -- that is cool -- thanks for that tip!

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago to amuse myself at weekends while I'm stuck in the house. It's a lot of fun, and I've used it a couple of times in home recordings to play lead lines as I'm a terrible keyboard player. The main reason for getting it was that I could play to my heart's content without getting strangled by anyone else in the house.

I’ve had my AE-10 for about a year now and I use it daily. Being a collegiate musician, and playing different wind instruments all day for different classes/ensembles, the aerophone is nice to practice sight-reading, ear training, improv, memory and scales without tiring my embouchure out. I pretty much use the aerophone to “rough draft” all the things I play so when I get to the practice room I can just fine tune. Plus I can plug-in my headphones and practice when ever I find some random free time commuting to class or in my dorm. It wont replace your sax but it can aid your progression and music making abilities. I highly suggest any sax player looking for a practice tool or midi controller that’s not a pad or piano to get the Aerophone.

I bought the Aerophone AE-10 a while ago and I love it. It uses complete saxophone fingerings and has a ton of synthesized instruments. You can connect an ipod into the input jack and play along with backing tracks through headphones, or connect to an amp. It sounds amazing and plays and feels like a real sax. Great line of instruments.

I got a Aerophone AE10 (with no Bluetooth). I’m very happy because it is an awesome instrument (professional), and I don’t need to play with other sound resources cause there are 100 sounds and an additional 100 blank banks to build your own sounds. On that occasion, I saw many videos on KZread about reviews of AE-10 and AE-05 (it comes with Bluetooth), and I got help from Mr. Panel an expert in those instruments on KZread. Actually, I love the design and the size of the earphone mini to be a casual instrument. It's great for having fun anywhere. In my opinion humble opinion, it's a good choice and a great cost-benefit.thank you very much, sir.

That looks super-fun, with a price and self-contained portability more like the old Casio DH than a Yamaha or Akai wind controller (and the extra hardware you'll need). But unlike the DH, not a toy, and it sounds nice on the sax and the synths, too! Someday, I'd love to see a wind controller that could be fingered like a clarinet, but with a market of just me, I doubt there'll be any takers

I have the AE-10, which is great for hotel rooms, late at night, etc, also to use as a midi input. The major advantage over the Mini is that it has all the sax keys, pretty much in exactly the right places (palm, bis, F#, etc). Plus small and light for travel. OK, without an add-on programme it doesn’t really sound like a sax, but for practice is a pretty good substitute. A deal more pricey, but for my 2 cents better value for money in the long run, at least for anyone who plays sax.

HI, Andrew. I was curious about that. Have been looking for an alternative for "silent" practice. One question: I know the Go has bluetooth connectivity in, but is there a way to play and have the sound output through bluetooth speakers? Or would I need to connect it by line to an amp? thanks!

Yes I play now the AE-10 for years and use it daily. The fingering is perfect the sax one. So I do economics not using my Tenor every day and slow down the time when the tenor needs a repair. Just a question to save money on the long run! And when you strengthen the embouchure (a paramter you can adjust) and do some tricks (pitch up to 250 Hz and then adjust other parameters like Lippressure and power to blow to simulate your embouchure on the real sax) so youdo not loose your embouchure even if you don't play Sax for weeks.

Thomas Krause Agreed, there are lots of parameters to play around with and having a “reed” does also help a great deal with maintaining embouchure. Each to their own, but I switched off the “bend” thumb control and also the double octave keys. Also, when using for scale practice it’s quite fun to play around with the sounds, or maybe that’s just me ...

I have one, and it's fantastic! I'm limited in how heavy an instrument I can play due to a neck injury, so this really helps a lot. The only caveat I have is that while it works amazingly on a Fruit Machine (Apple device) it has a bit more difficulty connecting to a Windows PC via Bluetooth MIDI. It works far better on PC through the USB connection. I use it with Reaper, the DAW I prefer, and you do need to be familiar with MIDI controllers to make best use of it. If all you need is audio, you can plug in the headphone jack and import it as an audio input, like you would with vocals or acoustic instruments over a microphone, or via pickups.

Roland Aerophone AE-10G Digital Wind Instrument: Hello fellow and future musicians, I normally don't complete reviews but, felt compelled to do so with the Aerophone. I played Tenor Sax and later Alto back in the mid-seventies while in middle school and high school. Sam Ash of (New York City) was the go-to store for musicians even back then. As all brass & wind instrument players know the hardest task is being able to practice and play without disturbing others. In middle school & high school, I was fortunate enough to have parents that encouraged practice. I also was in a neighborhood band. Then I went into the military (6-years) and my playing stopped. In the years since I have always thought and longed to be able to play again. But, as we all know a saxophone is not a quiet instrument. The last (2) saxophones I owned I donated to a church due to not being able to play anymore as I currently reside in a condo. That brings me to the Aerophone AE-10. The instrument is awesome and has me feeling like a child with a new toy. It does not matter now, day, afternoon, or late nights you can practice. I recommend investing in a good pair of over the ear headsets so you can immerse yourself in playing. The beauty of the Aerophone is that it will have you sampling and playing other instruments also. I called a couple of my childhood musician buddies and had them listen to a few lines over the phone on the Aerophone without telling what I had and they thought I had gotten another saxophone. I would like to give a (Great Big Shout-Out) to Sam Ash Music of Margate, Florida. and Mrs. C. Marshall in the horn section & Studio Breaks in Headsets & Audio. Yes, I could have gone to another music store but, I consider Sam Ash Music to be part of my extended family and their service is awesome. I know in the very near future I will be buying another Alto, Tenor, & Soprano Sax. I have my eyes on the Cannonball models :) Let the music play...... "Chance Favors Only the Prepared Mind." I have the Roland AE 10 which is the higher-end model. Great synth sounds and violin as well. Overall really good sounds (flute, violin, and synth). If you are travelling or don't want to bother neighbours - this is a great choice. You can also use headphones and hook up backing tracks. The inboard speaker isn't great but you can easily attach a speaker. Granted not like an acoustic sax but to rehearse quietly (especially if you are working on your time and rhythm) it is great. I don't regret getting it at all.

I was banned from singing at school in the choir and assembly and had my recorder demoted to a triangle - then that was confiscated too. Tried a guitar and got nowhere. Got a keyboard for the pandemic and made a little progress with an app. Bought the Aerophone Mini AE-01 and it seems far easier, portable and sounds OK with headphones on the violin and saw at least. You do have to press the keys quite firmly. The overstepped myself big time by buying an actual real sax, thinking it's the same without the batteries. Finally mananged to get a noise out of it - wow it's loud. It (or more likely me) sounds terrible. Have checked it all and swapped the mouthpeice, reed and ligature. Any tips? Thanks Jay, great channel.

As you said this would be good for beginners and also for people who want to practice but feel a traditional saxophone would make too much noise. @Newtyp I was waiting to see if anyone remembered those. Very same concept except with 40 years of technological advancements. I received one as a gift in 1988 but they had an inherent problem on most of developing a high pitched shrill due to moisture getting into the electronics. Someone started buying up old ones and fixing that issue and problem. I bought two and they work beautifully and no electronics issues. Some even have the original user guide, song book, and fingering chart of which the latter was A Casio alternate fingerling. Transpose on the fly, portamemto key. All the instruments can be taken up and down several octaves so clarinet, alto and bass, oboe, English horn, bassoon. Pretty Impressive for 1980’s. There were some folks performing professionally with them.
