I've always thought that high-end clothing was WAY overpriced, but now realizing how much passion and work goes through the making of these garments..different mindset.

Chanel makes spectacular pieces! They become art as much as a piece of clothing. Instead of paying for a painting you're paying for art you can wear.

Rebecca Elliott Absolutely. I am a couture freak and just like those who buy paintings and sculptures do understand the tecniques and process behind it i also do appreciate a lot the whole construction and material quality behind this garments. It is just breath taking. Imagine to those who can afford them to see afterwards how they pieces were actually made.

Robert Quadrini there really isn't, barely anybody but a few celebrities wear these pieces. Thousands of hours can go into a single garment which would make buying this clothing prohibitively expensive for almost everyone. Chanel uses the money from bag sales to fund these shows in order to keep the brand popular. When you purchase a chanel bag you are actually making a donation to these shows.

This type of clothing is not fashion, it is art. The women who piece these together (and the men too BTW who do quite a bit of the beading and sequin work) are truly artists. I respect them tremendously for what they create--art that you wear.

What a heartbreaking beautiful video. I have friends who laugh at the prices of haute couture items. Watching this is so humbling in terms of the the amount of work, materials, and craftsmanship that is involved in the process. And further, how the price actually supports the continuation of an art form that would have been otherwise been lost in our modern automated age...

motown The designers also have to pick a specific choice of fabric for the entire collection and has to come up with a sewing patterns along with the clothing. Seamstresses follows the designer’s instructions on how to sew the garments together. That is why Designers must be very accurate with their designs making sure all the details aren’t too complicated for the manufacturers to understand and provides a clear approach cuz once the designs are done they’ll send it in some factory or something.

Lynna Nguyen try gujarati traditional dresses. Same art of sequin work but not close to expensive in anyway. Fabric of gujarati dresses is not complex but art work is similar.

Aplaudo de pie a los que hacen estas obras de arte. Esos bordados son una espectacularidad. Tienen que estar orgullosos los que hicieron esas prendas por el resultado obtenido.

Wow! Very impressive. I graduated from Louise Salinger Academy of Fashion and Design in San Francisco. Quite fascinating. I worked the garment industry for many years. I went on to making costumes for many theatre groups and ballet companies. The schooling was one of the best decisions of my life.

Now that I’ve seen that there’s two of them. I love the second one more. The one that looked similar to street wear with the shorter more lax cut and statement lining design.
