Saving Baby Orangutans From Smuggling | Foreign Correspondent

There are some extraordinary people of all races, nationalites, some native to the lands, some from other countries who set up animal rescue and care facilities and they give me hope in this world that has too much cruelty and stupidity. But these people give and bit of hope and I know from personal experience how sometimes the simplelist of kindnesses change a life dramatically. I need to remember to say "bless you" towards the good people more than hate the evil ones.

@rj doggman : What a twisted reasoning to justify destruction of the rain forest, and needing to save orphan apes as a consequence !!! Humans should all find ocupations that will not harm the ecosystem . Same happens in Africa. Many people justify poachers activity because of poverty. Human poverty, human problems, human overpopulation, human greed, human cruelty, human wars, human conflicts, human terrorism, human all sorts of illegal traffic (drugs, wild animals, wild plants, ivory etc. for money), human perversities for money such as zoos, circuses etc. Even use them for lab tests medicine and cosmetics !!And the list is infinite. What do animals have to do with all our stupid human issues !!! They come to this world just to exist. It´s their right !Poor innocent creatures having some of them the extreme bad luck to fall into human´s hands ...!!

Celina Fernández That’s a one dimensional way of looking at it. These countries are incredibly poverty stricken and these jobs are the only jobs that will feed their families. I believe we should blame the rich people who provide a demand for these animals, instead of poor people who (are still in the wrong/ignorant) but likely have no other choice for an income.

to know the most intelligent coolest animals may be extinct in years to come just breaks my heart, and this man that runs this sanctuary is a gift from god ( him and his employees) bc if not for them they would be extinct already so god bless all sanctuaries that do this, also that big beautiful 15 yr. old male in the beginning in that cage & the baby they need to be sent somewhere they truly belong bc that is such cruelty, also these ppl risk their lives for these animals god bless u ppl!!!

The poor two that are in those small cages. The 15 year old looks like he's lost his mind, it absolutely heartbreaking. Why can't they go to that guys conservation???? Maybe they could at least give the big one a bigger inclosure, and possibly rehabilitate the young one. 🤷‍♀️

Oh it's not a major tragedy. A major tragedy is the human smuggling & trafficking. Young girls, boys being sold off to a life of misery. Often a short life. You can't have too many major tragedies, people get immune. These are apes - not people.

Nad Well, I think that there are hundreds of videos about human sex trafficking on UTube. But This video isn’t one of them. I am sure that you are sincere in your ideology and not just saying something to be saying something. I promise that I will not go to one of those sites regarding human trafficking and post comments on the tragedy of orangutans being killed, kidnapped and treated cruelly by humans. Also there are, unfortunately, as many major tragedies as there are opinions by people. It’s all a matter of perspective. Thank you for your comment but maybe next time you could post it on a video that involves what you feel so strongly about. Jus’ sayin...

Bonnie Burns You go around the block to make a point. I don’t need to keep tragedies confined to boxes. I see a comment that’s over dramatic - I respond to that comment. I’m tired of people who get over emotional with animals when their own kind are in need. Usually, they’re the same ones who move to the next heart breaker vid & same. Talk is cheap. Help your own.

Nad Oh WOW! I didn’t know that I was dealing with the Supreme Hoo Ha of the Comment Police!!! I really don’t care what you think or say about me. It just shows how closed minded and arrogant you are. Go on and school everybody about what they should be passionate about. I bet you are a hoot at parties if you ever get invited to any. It just hard to socialize with someone who likes to control situations and has no personality worth noting. Oh, get over your bad self! You aren’t that interesting.

So the new president act has been involved right now. We can’t blame the whole things on the central government as u know our country is large, mostly who did the bad things is the local government....

I was really sad when the orangutan was released into the wild. I thought I would be really happy when the moment finally came, but it just made me question whether he should be released in the first place. Once they’re taken out of their habitat, that’s it it’s done, that life is over with so I think maybe these orangutans should never be released back into the wild. Some of the sanctuaries are very nice and I think that’s a perfect place for a lot of them to live their lives out

The government should introduce programs that will provide livelihood to the poor people so it deters poachers from greeting enticed to the illegal trade, that usually is the solution that effectively works for turning things around from illegal pet trade. Poachers turn to illegal trade because of the desperate measure to meet their needs.
