‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣ THIS EPISODE ‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣
This week we leave our friends’ beautiful property in Springfield, Missouri, to start a 1600 mile road trip through Elkhart and ultimately to our home state of Maine!
We usually stop in Elkhart once or twice a year for meetings with our partners, Grand Design and Lippert, but this specific trip was exciting because we got a sneak peak at Grand Design’s first motorized RV - the Lineage! This Class C is special to us, because we are going to be taking one to Alaska this summer!
We have been in our Reflection for 7 years, and though we are looking forward to a new RVing experience in a motorized Class C and so excited for our new Reflection to be done this fall, it is sad to think that this is our last trip in our RV. So many memories and special celebrations have been had with the girls over the years in our tiny home. We are so grateful to have been able to document our travels over the years, so we can always go back and remember our first RV!
While in Elkhart, we were able to join in seRVing alongside hundreds of Lippert employees supporting local non-profits. We also did a campground garbage clean up with our friends @travelingstephens for our seRV Monthly Challenge! If you want to know more or get involved with seRV With Purpose, you can join our Facebook Group here: / 595394262688668
The weather this year has been crazy, and we end up leaving Elkhart early to get ahead of some really nasty storms. We were under a tornado warning, and they were calling for baseball sized hail. The storm followed us all the way to Pennsylvania, until it calmed down enough for us to stop for the night.
The insanity continued when we got to Maine and happened upon a massive fire on the lake while out for an evening cruise on the boat. Corey and our dear friend, Jeff, ran into a house to rescue a dog that was inside and then stayed to help put out one of the houses that was just catching on fire, because the fire department was so overwhelmed putting out the other 2 houses, many outbuildings, cars and boats that were burning. The fire chief came over to thank them after for saving the house.
We both grew up in Maine and have NEVER seen the Northern Lights there before, so getting to experience them at the lake house with the girls will be a highlight of this year!
Stay tuned for next week as we pack the It’s Better Outside store and tow the RV with a new truck (Elon would approve)! Be sure to like and subscribe and click on the bell icon for notifications when we release new videos!
Don’t wait to live your life, find your 🔆SOMEDAY🔆 now!

As a Deputy Fire Chief (retired volunteer) from Cromwell, CT I know the feeling of being appreciative of bystanders helping. Whether it be forming the "bucket brigade" or rolling hoses during cleanup. When you talked about using buckets, I pictured Emmett Kelly at the Hartford Circus Fire carrying the bucket with his famous sad face. You saved the pup, but Kelly and the Hartford, CT Fire Department were unable to save my 4-year-old sister, Sandra L. Logan, who perished in the fire. Thank you for your efforts to save the puppy and the building and, as always, your service to our country.

Living in northwestern Washington State, I was fortunate to be able to see the Aurora on a number of occasions. Usually they danced low on the northern horizon, but one event (no idea how many years ago) the crept south far enough to be right over head. I lived at the time in semi-open farm country, very dark skies and very, very quiet at night. I parked my car on the edge of a farmer's field, well off the road, using the planting/harvesting equipment access road into the field. The light show in the sky was so close, and seemed so low, I swear I could see individual particles tracing their paths as they fell towards Earth. I also had never realized that the Aurora actually makes a sound as it falls, sounds like very faint radio static. Alone in that field, very late at night (actually very early morning), I became a little bit spooked, it was a very eerie experience. I had been outside of my car, leaning against it, watching the sky, then decided maybe being outside wasn't the best idea, which I knew then was silly, but I got back into my car anyway, hahaha, and just stuck my head out my rolled down window. Even doing that made me feel vulnerable to the illuminated cosmic rainfall above me, so I rolled up the window and laid down across my front seats and watched thru my windshield. And while I felt safer and more protected from possible damage from that cosmic rainfall, I knew I wasn't, that none of us ever are, that all life forms on Earth are constantly bombarded by the sun's cosmic energy, which is almost always invisible to us. But to be able to actually SEE it raining down on the planet, so beautiful, to be able to watch those solar particles dancing in the solar wind in our planet's magnetic fields as it passes over us and continues on into our solar system beyond us, is for many folks something they will never experience. Even in the far north, the Aurora is fairly rare. I am so very grateful I've been able to experience them multiple times.

Tornado warnings, watches, and severe weather alerts screaming all at once, along with a TV screaming, and tornado horns off in a distance is very stressful. We deal with this yearly for for a couple of months. You want to be safe inside a shelter, not on the road. It seems this type of weather is now every where, not just in tornado alley. Y'all remain safe out on the road. Thank you for helping the firemen by rescuing a dog, and putting out fire. Your camera caught the aurora borealis nicely. I think the camera is a keeper😊

I agree 100% don't listen to anyone else who's trying to help you back up, I'm by myself and I have a process and when others try to help it messes me up, they get in my head, I have 23' and it's allot easier than what you have but I scope out my spot as i'm pulling past, I always try to get spots on my drivers side, but if I can't I just take it very slow get out several times and check my position. Btw, tornado's are my biggest fear as well, I'm on the east coast as well so we don't have to deal with them very often; i'm retiring beginning of August and i'm heading out to see the national parks and I will definitely check the weather apps on my phone on a daily basis and turn on all my notifications. Look forward to watching your Alaska adventure. As a pet owner my first concern are my dogs, a house can be replaced my dogs are more important there my family; glad Ricardo was OK.

Wow! That was a pretty emotional video. Used to live in Florida for a few winters, remember seeing the hurricanes coming in or worrying about a tornado. That is my biggest fear of being on the road is the weather turning suddenly. Watching those fires and thinking about how devastating that would be for the people who have owned and enjoyed those places, possibly for generation....the memories live on. And the only time I have seen Northern Lights was in Maine when I was a child. Must have been winter because we were driving back from my grandparen after dark, and we never stayed that late, I was laying up on the shelf in the back of our old car, that was my favorite spot to ride at night. I remember yelling "Stop, dad stop!" and my mom looking outside and saying pull the car over and we just sat there and watched them. The weather patterns sure have changed since then, living in Northern Vermont right now and the weather has been so bad, the flooding last year, and the hurricanes that have made their way all the way up here. Oh, and I loved Lily's comment at the end! Sometimes it is better inside, like during the 3 days of 90+ temps we just experienced!

Oh my. This one really got me! Not only am I terrified of big storms in the RV, but my brother’s big beautiful home in Texas burnt to the ground on New Year’s Day this year. Thankfully the family were all able to make it out safely (barely) but it has been a long road trying to rebuild their lives. It was a brand new (to them) dream home in a new state, which made it even more tough. They lost both vehicles too. I hate fire! 😩 ~ Ashley

Wow, a lot to process in that video! On the subject of weather and other emergencies while in the road, knowing where you are when you settle in for the night may even save a life in the event of an emergency. Some suggest a whiteboard in your RV. We have chosen to use technology in the form of a note on our phones, shared between members of the camping party, and shared with a friend or family at home. The name of the CG, site #, and importantly the COUNTY should be included. You might also include items you intend to check out while there...The info can potentially be filled in by the copilot while the driver is checking in. Corey, love the attention to maintaining your truck and trailer! I actually carry a pump sprayer with Chemical Guys Eco-Smart Watherless wash and a supply of microfiber towels. Either the end of a travel day or the next morning with my first cup of coffee, the bugs get removed from the front of the truck, mirror caps, and front of trailer if possible. Get them before the sun bakes them on!

06:55 😂😂😂 I DO THE SAME THING! Just in this last solar eclipse trip, got into Amarillo super late and washed the Dually/Airstream in the storm! Free water! And in the morning she was shiny and looking good for our arrival. I really shouldn’t care about that stuff, but I’m not perfect.

Corey, you down play what you did. Most people would just stand back and shoot video on their phones. You stepped in to help and try to save people, property, and a dog. Do not down play what you tried to do to help the fire fighters and just to do what was right. I thank you for them !!!!

We watched the lights a week before we left Oklahoma for Alaska. They were fantastic even where we were. We're currently outside of Whitehorse YT exploring the area before heading over to Haines and then on to Tok. We'll keep a lookout for a new Grand Design Lineage! Have fun and we hope to see you!
