I have a theory on why the world almost ended. As hoshin stated in the sidestory the person Who most likely would die is flugel. I think it has something to do with fighting pandora or another foe. This is why satella takes the envy witch factor even though she knows she is not compatible with it because she wants to save flugel. It ends bad and she almost destroys everything.

This is completely unrelated but i wanted to say this I have noticed that whenever subaru or his allies try to do something, it us extremely hard and has a mediocre effect Whenever subaru's enemies try to do something, it is extremely easy and has a great effect For example during the last view chapters, activiting the curse was extremely easy for todd, super effective and risk free In arc 2 Beatrice explained that in order to place a curse, a physical contact must be made and if the curse user dies then it's most likely that the curse won't activate Whoever the way the curse works in arc 7 isn't explained and extremely beneficial for subaru's enemies Another issue i noticed is that whenever subaru is separated from his allies they seem to have a much easier time In arc 6 subaru's went through trauma before reaching the tower while emilia's group had it easy

I want to point out that I think that Satella brought over Subaru to save the world since her and her friends couldn't but I believe that other "observers" are getting in his way and are the cause for all of the trouble Subaru has been through, for instance I believe that Echidna and Pandora are also "observers" because as for Pandora she seems to be controlling the witch cult and some witch beasts, and Echidna was literally OBSERVING Subaru(she said that she watched everything Subaru has been through) and giving Roswaal orders and thus was the cause for Arcs 1 - 4, which means that they are observing others and influencing specific people/witch beasts in order to control certain events.

I have a head canon based on something in arc 1, in the beginning Subaru leaves to the STORE grabs FOOD the gets transported, I think that Subaru when he is dreaming in the real world or in a similar state in the real world he can actually enter the shadow garden or another plane of existence where he met Satella and helped her not be lonely then forgot because it was a dream then redid it all over again which is why the first thing he does after he wakes up is go to the store then immediately after getting food he gets grabbed by Satella, while he can’t remember why he went he still felt that he had to This would also explain why Subaru was an Otaku liking white haired heroins, it’s all he can dream about

If Satella is meant to be represented by the moon one way to look would be the 2 sides of the moon. The light side we can see and the dark side invisible to us. These two sides of the moon could represent the personalities inside of Satella with a light albeit ominous side and and a dark one treat would be better of le unseen.

Though, according to lore the prime Echidna was really kind and "fought monsters" But the current Echidna "is more of a monster." For the current Echidna, she is the mother of monsters as her Gospel gave rise to the Witch Cult, which are literally acting as monsters. Well, maybe the Good Echidna's evil side is only known to Betty and Roswaal for now, which explains why Roswaal accepts her as "Echidna."

Re zero is one of the few works of fiction in which I am very interested in time travel concept.

Theories: Before talking about Reinhardt, we can predict that why Cecilus knows about the Observers. 1) Books, well explains Cecilus's creative story making talents. 2) *His two swords.* What I feel that the swords old by the Most Powerful swordsman are actually connected to the Observers. So what I mean is that Cecilus vs Reinhardt was indirectly battle between Observers and Sword God took care of two Observers at a time. *About Reinhardt talking about moon.* There a lot of predictions on how that statement is true. Let us start from Arc 7. 1) Tappei mentioned Sphinx, and we know that Sphinx can use Magic Circles to prevent Reinhardts DP. This can weaken Reinhardt, and if Tappei really wants, he can make Reinhardt fight a very hard fight where he must save everyone. 2) *Arc 8.* Prediction. There's a Libre Organization that reveres Typhon + The Shadow Organization that threatened Reinhardt during his Past. So these might Appear to cause trouble. 3) *The Black Serpent.* 4) Pandora, Omega and Elior Forest Gate. 5) The Great Waterfall Arc. @@djgolden5903 Arc 8 is just a prediction. But Sphinx, Libre and The shadow organization are actually side stories. Though, I got all these information from the Re zero wiki.

Oh yay! I’m glad someone’s bringing attention to this arc 1 stuff. The first episode title and the stuff about the moon have both been things I’ve thought about a lot and I’ve wanted to see someone talk about them for awhile!

Gods playing with chess pieces reminds me of Hanyu or Bernkastel and Rika in higurashi. Higurashi and any of the other series from the creators have people used as pieces by powerful witches

Perhaps their objective was to gather the witch factors in to Flugel, in order to oppose Pandora, only for Pandora to one up them by forcing the envy witch factor upon Satella. Perhaps getting a bit desperate, Satella used the one witch factor she did have to destroy the source of that which threatened the world (Pandora only needed one to be a major threat after all), only to end up with half of the world as collateral damage.

I think satella tries to save flugel and then took the envy factor, just like juice did to defeat pandora and the arrogant boy with the witch factor. It is stated that by hoshin that flugel was the person wh most likely would die and I think satella did the unthinkable and sacrificed herself

I don't think she "Forced" A factor into Satella. Perhaps, is it even possible for her to do so? But what could have happened is that she was "forced to touch" Something that then led to her take in the witch factor. Example, forcing your hand to use the authority in the box.

Satella take the envy authority that wasn't choose by it so most likely forced it in to her probably to save flugel or to be enough strong to protect him if something happens like in the story with hoshin and there he was saved by satella from kill himself One other idea is that he forced out of jealousy for the other witches but most importantly Echidna she seems to reallyyyyy like flugel and flugel might actually like her back and satella didn't like that so much but i dont think that actually happened The last i have is that flugel and the rest didn't really know how that think works and the silver hair girl take it by accident making the witch of envy

To save him from Whomever she takes the envy witch factor which also fits her character as a loving and caring person to the end.

Now this slightly lines up with my theory but here i go again. The end of the beginning is the end of Subaru and Satellas journey. Volcanica failed to act (kill satella) and as a result half the world was destroyed. The same with Al (hoshin?) The begginning of the end is now the same thing happening but possible with Emilia this time; or still just satella but Emilia plays a role too. In the frozen bonds there was a spirit trying to kill Emilia because she's " the witches encumbrance" and that she's a danger to the whole world. Then we have Betlgeuse waffling on about how she's supposed to be a vessel for the witch. Satella also asked Subaru to kill her and this is likely why. This might also link to the Elior forest seal. It's supposed to END the world this time so maybe it starts a sort of ticking time bomb for Satella? Maybe even something related to witch factors; like it causes them to slowly be driven mad? Either way i think this will be the crux of arc 11, to save Satella before time runs out. Subaru will need to try and find a way to save Satella before that happens and he'll need echidnas help for it. Echidna still has her entire body intact and i don't think that's a mistake. Subaru likely did that knowing he would need her help in the future and this is the plan B of sorts. That's why the Flugels tree was planted where it was. Again i think he will just Seperate the Satella side of her soul and merge it with Emilia's leaving him with no reservations about killing the envy user. Echidna will be the one to handle that since she's done so much research into souls already. Subaru promised to save her so it wouldn't makes sense for her to die given the context. The witch cult was created to aid the future Subaru and pandora twisted it, that's why everyone in elior forest recieved aid from them and betlgeuse acted the way he did and fortuna probably knew this as well along with some others like minerva.. The story of re zero is building up to the end of the world and Subaru being Subaru is going to try and stop that without loosing anyone.

Also worth mentioning how Sirius talks about how Subaru will become like Betelgeuse since he has the sloth witch factor, so perhaps Satella gained the envy witch factor and turned into the witch of envy and so if Emilia obtains it she will become the witch of envy. I don't think Satella=Emilia but both have the potential to be possessed by the witch of envy like Satella was and the witch cult wants Emilia to be because their souls/ods are similar.

This theory makes a LOT of a sense. Considering how regulas's mindset was as a child felt altered. Like….a kid can't be thinking like that. Then betelguese being consumed by sloth due to Pandora's interference. There's a high chance that Pandora is tweaking with roswall's book and making him question his sanity. As otto isn't Someone who was present in his book. I don't know how lust was involved with Pandora as her personality is just what it seems . Basically, she is turning everything that was supposed to help subaru, against him. There's a chance that echidna wrote those texts in roswall's book hope to help subaru but it didn't go that way(this may be wrong, but there's just a chance).

@@kreysteller5470 yea, since there's even a church (with seven candles) in one of the early teasers that depict subaru and Emilia's first meeting in the first loop that was erased. Since betlgeuse also spoke about the church it just makes me thing that Subaru knew all this was going to happen back then and planned ahead. It wouldn't surprise me if he already thought of a way to save Satella after she was sealed away and this is the future he set up so that it would end in a way that leads his future self to saving her.

@@omega1445 That would also explain how planned his journey feels. Like, he has every "tool" set up for him to help him in his path. For example :- That huge tree subaru used to kill the white whale and that trial in arc 6 about the stars and also shaula being so attached to subaru. All of this feels like a broken path carved for him, which probably got messed up due to foreign interference. ….I wonder who might it be who is sabotaging that path

One thing for sure. The timeline of RE: Zero world is a total mess as it is possible to fuck around with the space-time continuum and there has been nothing but chaos post Catastrophe. There has been a lot of hints and twists to the story that indicate the Royal Selection is not what it seems and has a far different purpose lost to time due to 400 years of chaos and assaults on the Space-Time Continuum that only Subaru is immune to so far. I would expect a whole slew of things to be possible all at once and ultimately who becomes the Ruler of Lugnica will be entirely decided by Subaru who will face every temptation and be confronted with the reality of the First Law of Magic. All magic has a price. Subaru was given the ultimate ability with the ultimate price to pay. This makes him the master of the world's destiny. But whatever destiny he decides for it will come with a terrible price he must pay. This entire series thus is about what price Subaru is willing to pay as he has to work around the prejudices and failures of others. To save Emilia from Sloth, he had to give up Rem. To save Rem, he had to give up Emilia. If he had kept his promise to Emilia and stayed at the Mansion with the Maids for the Royal Selection, the Government would have been decapitated, the Candidates killed, and the capital gutted by Puck carrying out his contract to protect Emilia. And so on and so forth. And in all of these cases, Subaru had to make a choice and pay the price.

There's another moon reference. The last episode of Season 2 is titled Offbeat steps under the moonlight. What's also interesting is that, if you look at the images of the moon closely, in the anime, it looks JUST like the moon on earth. In other isekai stories it could be throwaway detail. But Re: Zero? I don't think so. Why is the Moon the same when the stars in the sky are different?

If we try to remake the heroes that failed in todays re:zero it would be like this Flugel-Subaru Satella-Emilia Farseil-Felt Reid-Reinhardt Hoshin-Anastasia Echidna-Sphinx

Ramblings of a madman again. Random idear but what if Flugel and co due Echidnas help where able to extract WF withouth killing their owners. (Which would tie into the Q&A about Tappei saying Vainglory and Melancholy arent WF because they were never able to gain their Warlocks/Witch cooperation) Remember in Arc 4 Dream Palace Echidna says she died with 19 but her actual corpse is in her mid 20s according to Subarus POV & the Anime showing us the visible difference. We also have the implication that the mid 20s Echidna was more emotional than her sociopathic version Subaru met. What if both is true and mid 20s Echidna is the one withouth her Witchfactor that was made into something tangible by her & Flugel. (Remember how Flugel gave Petelgeuse a literal box with the Sloth WF sealed inside of it) Ties into my theory that WF over time assimilate their hosts personality thus slowly corrupt & overtake them (Od/Soul is something more tangible in Re:Zeros world so maybe that explains the logic/process behind their corruption tho that makes Subaru rather extreme affinity for them even more omnious). Similar to The Thing from the movie replaces the cells of its host & ends up becoming them. Could also tie into the apperence of the previous WF hosts in Shadow Garden. Regarding the main topic:I guess that also means in theory all Celestial Objects/related things are tied to Observers. Dragons because they roam the sky. WF Users all of them are related to Stars/Constallations from Earth. Which so far was already a huge foreshadowing that Aldebran is tied to Observers/a WF holder because litearlly all of the current WF Hosts are tied to Stars from Earth + his ties to him knowing stuff about the "supposed future for Subaru". So Satella at this point became a Observer after everything went wrong. (Whatever the specifics are aka what it means) Subaru name is also related to stars. (Ties into his theme of Pleiades aka being able to hold all 7 WF) Heck this also fits the whole theme WF and their powers being able to defy Re:Zeros wordly laws. WF & their Users all related to Stars/Constallations from Earth. Meanwhile the Observers from this world are all tied to their worlds Stars. Thus Observers created Blessings(+People Like Reinhard & Cecillus being aware of Observers & Otherworldy powers/people bcause of direct orders from them. ) to counteract the influence of Otherworldy Stars(Which would make them Observers from different worlds/Earth) Huh...is that why Reinhard first tried to get Subaru to his own domain because he knew about his Otherworldy Observer status? You know playing Elden Ring and its obvious cosmic horror influences. I begin to think Tappei was also influenced by Space Horror a lot. The more you think about it. Observers sound more and more Eldritch in nature. My madman ramblings aside. Even now we have no clue what the Door/Seal is all about besides it being The End of the World if opened once more.

Just a thought. What if flugal is an older version of Subaru. Having made it to sage stat made him realize he couldn’t do what he wanted to because he was a sage. Making the Subaru now one who is a younger version of himself with the traits needed to pull whatever they failed at off. I’m thinking the reason subaru was chosen though has to do something with his personality and will since things like physicality and intelligence were already tried.

i know it's unrelated to the video but it would be awesome to see more of Farsale Lugnica we have seen more of the other 5 but not a lot of him.

I think Satella’s name could be a reference to the Moon. The moon is a Satelite and Luna is a popular name for Witches so Satella would be a more creative name that connects to the moon for a witch to have rather than just naming her Luna.

If the story progress properly and clears all the mysteries with proper ending!! Then Rezero can become a i Masterpiece Of This Century!!

Another interesting parallels that might led credibility to the Subaru equals flugel or a reincarnation of sorts is that the sword saint, the sage, the witch and potentially the last member of the royal family all drawn together

This theory really fits well. So let me guess what you mean. The good Echidna, split herself into two Echidna personalities, resulting in the death of Good Echidna. The "Evil Echidna" Went to collect souls, and then got sealed by Volcanica. Note: *Echidna Seal took place after Calamity.* *Roswaal and Betty existed during the War.* So what could have happened is Roswaal thought Volcanica sealed "Good Echidna." I think I'm getting this concept a little awkwardly placed, but you get what I mean, dying of Good Echidna and Roswaal thinking that Volcanica sealed Good Echidna.

Estrella - Star. Estella - Star. Stella - Celestial Star. Stellar - Stars. - Probably more that are similar... I believe that the name Satella will have something to do with stars or something among the stars, like the moon. The name could be a reference to the moon, something from old mythology or possibly a reference to the book "Life Is a Dream" (Spanish: "La vida es sueño") which contained both the Astrea and Estrella variants of the name. So if the name Satella is a variant of Astraea, Estrella or Stella etc. then it would literally mean something like "Of the stars" which still fits with the name "Luna" as the moon is among the stars at night. If you take the meaning of each variation you could deduce that the name "Satella" could literally mean "Goddess of the stars" or "Goddess among the stars" or something similar.

This could tie into the whole theme of celestial objects are these "Observers" entitys & dozens of characters names tied to stars/celestial objects are somehow connected to it or have powers defying Re:Zeros worldly laws. So Reinhard being a agent of the Observers could make complete sense. Makes me wonder if Cecillus also is tied to stars because he seem to be aware on a 4th wall breaking level how everything is in the hand of these omnipotent entitys.

The volume one also has a reference on adam and eve and the forbidden fruit

subaru can guess the weakness of the archbishops and defeat them via their names(we all know how) maybe flugel did the same to the witches of sin on his journey/somehow he failed at a point/found the witchcult/gave gospel/and someone gave the current archbishops their names(for subaru to do what he does)

his voices breaks a little when he says "...its most likely that he is" after all the videos talking how subaru cant be flugel cause it would make the writter bad and woudn´t make much sense.

And if Al is Subaru, where does he fit in all this? Perhaps there's more timelines involved in this than we know. If we treat this like a single timeline, then Al is Fluguel, that it's somehow alive all these years, but blames himself for everything that happened, and "can't face Satella" anymore, resulting in his fear towards her, and his loveless RbD. Crazy shit, it's so much to think about.

It may be more in connection to Attack on Titan. The first Episode To You 2000 years in the Future. Final Arc was From You 2000 years in the past. Which has a lot to do with failure and freedom.

I also think the royal selection stone that Felt stole a few minutes after Subaru arrived has something to do with it. It was what made Reinhardt realize the “peace” was over. Maybe he knows of some prophecy from Og Logna that has to do with the moon and Satella. And it was only moments after Subaru arrived. Felt might also have a bigger role in the final arc. Not sure though.

If Subaru ist Flugel , why changed Subaru his Name ? Subaru is not type to use Fake Name with his Close Friend 😗 in this time he used his real Name, why didn't he use his Name last time ? Why Emilia look exactly same as Satella? They are 2 different people

The Subaru-Flugel thing could be explained by Pandora. If she "banished" Flugels existence somehow viva her Narrator Authority but because Flugel/Subaru came from Earth thus her Authority only partly works (like how Gluttony isnt able to consume Subaru beyond his memories of R:Zeros world but cant touch everything related to Earth, how invisible providence wasnt invisible to Subaru etc etc)

@@MonoReaper if that why Flugel didn't used his Name " Subaru" in the first time he came to this world :( and If Flugel aka Subaru is Japanese why he used a Germany word "Flugel" = Wings to fake his Name. Subaru doesn't seem to know Germany. Why didn't he use "Tsubasa" instead . They have the same meaning "Wings"

Just a cover name that could have been later implemented because of advice he had from other people aka Echidna the most likely candidate to warn him about stuff like this. Subaru knows german. His fake identity/crossdresser persona Natsumi Schwarz aka Schwarz is a german word for black. While its also the authors bias most likely why Subaru knows this several times so far Tappei used german names/word puns for characters. A more recent example would be his gladiator squad in Arc 7 who are literally puns in katakana for the German Numbers 1, 2 & 3. Or Reinhard himself a common/old german name. (No idear why but he seems to love old-german names) But so far thats just wild speculation why he used Flugel as a nickname. Atm the possibilitys are still endless.

Priscilla clearly rivals Emilia and they have that "Sun and Moon" theme to their rivalry with them being hot, proud, authoritarian and cool, humble, egalitarian respectively. Although I would say the Astreas, especially Reid and Reinhard, are the ultimate opposition to Satella. Hell, Reid may have even attempted to cuck Flugel and take Satella for himself judging by his comments about having Emilia in bed if he were alive. Surely, the reveal of 400 years ago will be a sight to behold lol.

Yeah in retro-spec this makes his weird comment much more omnious. If celestial bodys/stars in Re:Zero world have some sort of will/sentient entitys than that could mean a litearl "sun"

Yes we are slowly realizeing its a literal thing. For example as pointed out in the video: Emilla/Satella = Moon Subaru=Pleiades7 Reinhard/Astrea=Star Gazer/Those who look upon the Stars + Greek Goddess Hector=Constellation Pandora=Star All of the 7 Sin Archbishops are related to the Pleiades Constallations You get what i am saying? A character connected to the literal Sun aka its Observer entity in Re:Zero. We know there are actual supernatural deitys in this world. From the Sword God who guides the Astrea family aka their Saints (We seen Theresa speak with it in a conversation) To literal Star Oracles (Arc7) getting future vision from these Observers to carry out their missions. To characters like Aldrebran who are seemingly tied into these whole thing as he is supporting Subaru at the moment because Subaru wasnt supposed to ever travel to Vollachia & thus has to railroad him back to his "original path" There is so much a going on but this clears up so much now aka we can now predict a lot more if we consider everything Celestial related ties into the overaching secret war going on between cosmic horror entitys who use Re:Zero world as their gameboard/stageplay (as our blue lighting said)

@Pop Not sure how much the Tarot cards imply. But her being The World seem more tied to her reality bending manipulation phenomena aka the world dances in her palm. Pandora is a real life constallation/star just like all the other star/constallation named characters. Subaru being the outlier as he represents in japanese the overaching Pleiades cluster which has 7 stars tied to it. Petelgeuse, Regulus, Capella etc. Which captures the theme of Subaru gaining body parts with each WF & once he reaches 7 he will have a full body in Shadow Garden.

It also means "rival" IIRC. Her physical traits and personality make her eerily identical to a "blank" Satella, and her potential to eventually rival Satella (if not even surpass her in some ways) is very high.
