@Qurck Echidna's death has a lot more other circumstances involved. I believe she shoved her soul into the garden thing inside the Trials. She also took steps beforehand to make sure that it would be possible to resurrect herself through Lewes Meyer. Whereas normally what happens is that after a person dies in the Re Zero world, their soul is sent to the Hall of Memories where their memories are cleansed and their soul is recycled. Basically, it's implied that reincarnation happens. While Echidna probably took steps to avoid this.

Yeah- It seems like Aldebaran, Flugel, and Hoshin could all be different versions of Subaru. Failed versions, versions with different tasks, versions taken from different points in time- Something. Whatever it ends up being, I don't think it will really involve time travel, at least deeply. It could be something as simple as Pandora's authority putting Subaru and Emilia through repetitive hell- Or Subaru using his version of that authority in order to save Satella. Hopefully arc 7 gives us a better clue as to what the hell is happening. Personally, I have my money on it all involving "time operatives" working towards a very specific future or goal, because that is how several characters in the main arc come across.

@@JasXD01 For what it is worth- I wouldn't trust just anyone with such a story. 99.99 percent of writers would turn that into shock value, unpoetic, things-happening bullshit. I have a deep trust in Tappei Nagatsuki. Dude's weaknesses are few and far between.

@@gOnz3r Yeah, Tappei does like messing with his readers I suppose. Having read the novels, there is a lot of evidence pointing to a watered down Fate Stay Night/ Steins;Gate-like twist. Personally, I also dislike "this character anticipated everything" twists (kinda ruined Naruto for me). Hopefully Tappei will maintain the current "realm of possibilities" vibe I get from reading through the story.

My theory is that satella chooses people with similar characteristics and appearances as her potential saviors and Isekais them into Re:zero world to get them to kill herself. So Flugel, Al and Subaru are all different characters with similarities. Flugel refused to kill Satella and let her be sealed instead. So Satella Isekai'd Al to get herself killed but Al refused and Satella gave up on him so she chose Subaru to be isekaid next.

Maybe versions of Subaru that arrived to different past moments are responsible for many of the notable events that took place in this world and are the source of the rare black haired people.

It makes me wonder what Hoshin's relationship would be to Subaru.

I've had a theory for a while now that Subaru, Hoshin, Al and, Flugel are all Subaru just sent to different times. We already know how easily Subaru's mindset could change just if one thing different happens due to the if routes so imagine him getting sent to a different time entirely and not having Emilia there. It would change his logic and path entirely.

He only helps her a bit before deciding that she is the most powerful person he knows (she escaped Reinhard, so she must be stronger, is what he sees in the IF) so he wants to have someone to rely on, even if he wants to kill her.

Al is the Subaru from the Webnovel that got transported to the Light Novel. And the Al of the Web novel is a Subaru from another timeline and so on.

I had never take this theory into account, truthly Jakez is our guru of Re: zero on KZread, and ill support each part of the theory with two important points but with a healthy skepticism; supporting Subaru=Al we have what Priscilla said in Pride Prejudice and Zombies “--No matter how many times I see it, you have an unsightly look in your eyes.” and their personalities are they are quite similar to the point that they both make jokes about their past lives; in other hand we have that both are the same height but Subaru is only 19 years old and is still growing but Al will no longer grow any more at almost 40 years old and their affinities with magic are different being earth with Al and shadow magic on Subaru.

This all makes me wonder if Satella wants to die not for finally being able to rest but maybe to trigger a Return by Death like effect. Perhaps she knows that if she can reset something she may have a way to beat Pandora?

i like how tappei thought of everything to make re:zero a damn mystery. like who else would think about putting in stars for the mysteries of an anime.

I wonder if Arc 7 will shed any light on these theories now that the related parties have caught up with one another.

I think you missed to say that Al seem capable of using Earth magic, which should be weird for Subaru, since he only used shadow magic but, according to Tappei, Subaru could have learn how to use other kind of magic if he dedicates his life to that. O: Of course Subaru has shadow magic affinity, but can he use magic from other affinities (at the time of arc two)? You can make best use of the magic from your affinity, and your ability with other affinities will be lower, but is it alright to say that it’s not impossible to use them? A: At the time of arc two, it would be impossible, you see. With training, he could do it. But, if it’s Subaru, even if he did learn it, he wouldn’t get further than ‘El’. I think ‘Ul’ would be reasonable once becomes able to use Shamac. He’d have to devote half his life to it, though.

I'm not saying the theory is true, but we can't say there's no reason since that would mean we already have deep knowledge of what's actually going on in the story and behind the scenes. Good theory video, as always. In my opinion the RZ:LIM event is related to the next April If (who can probably be Melancholy IF, a good theme for that story). That event, from what I heard, is listed to appear in the game at the end of March next year, near the time of April. In my opinion that event cover the next story if and is not yet revealed because probably is related to some content who must be cover in Arc 7 (in which Al probably is covered).

Aldebaran is, as much as I know, one of 4 fixed stars in taurus constalation, and Pleiades is star cluster north-west. Another name for Pleiades is Subaru...

This is why I love Re:Zero! Tappei leaves all these small breadcrumbs for us and some could lead this way or that way. We never know for sure how things will turn out and when we do get the answer we are somehow still surprised at the outcome!

Not sure what to think at this point, however- good theory.

@Lattaz Minor spoilers from the exclusive side stories of Re Zero. Al doesn't have any Magic item because it is too expensive and it was implied that when he tried to ask prisca (Priscila' s real name) she chopped his head off or something so we can already confirm that al doesn't have have any Magic items. There is also the fact that Al chanted the Earth Magic when fighting capela, wich isn't something he would do if he had an Magic item As for authorities... nothing is impossible, but if my memory is correct then in one of Tappei Nagatsuki Q&A he Said something along the lines of: " o pretend to let his gate broken because of SPOILERS" or something like that.

Doesnt Subaru also dislike Mayonnaise? if i remember correctly in the anime when Subaru is going through his first trial, towards the end him and his mother are having a chat and she states that a mother watches their child carefully and knows more then they let on, then proceeds to tell him shes always knew he really didnt like mayonnaise and just said he did because his mother and father love it more then anything.

Alright, I'm going to go ahead and make a prediction. There are four instances of isekai we know of in re:zero, technically three since we just assumed Flugel was, but let's run with that assumption. There is now evidence to suggest that two of the other ones are actually different versions of Subaru. So, I'm thinking that when we soon learn more about Hoshin, which as of right now the only thing we really know about him for certain outside of the fact that he was clearly isekaid, is that he said some connection to Echidna since she said she helped found it. Whether or not these theories end up being true is something yet to be seen, but the correlation is at least an interesting one.

Plot twist! Aldebaran is his father before almost dying in the finale, isekaid to earth and marry his earthling wife, subaru's mom. Basically the parents know that subaru time will come when subaru will be isekai.

This is an absolute baller theory. It is known that Al was isekai'd once already, being from Japan, so it would make sense for him to take the opportunity to go back if he was given the chance. It also explains why people who have seen Al's face don't compare him with Subaru, otherwise it would be weird why no one has pointed out the similarities. His dad would look like him, but not *exactly* like him.

I really like this theory, but my one criticism of it is that if Al is Subaru, then why did he not recognise Subaru when he first met him. In fact, it only seemed like he realised the fact that Subaru is from another world when Subaru mentioned the "red string of fate". Surely Al wouldn't forget what his younger face looked like even if he is supposedly colour blind?

That’s a good point, there are two possible explanations I can make: one that al is simply lying (lots of mysteries around him, such as his connection to the sin archbishops and why capella accused him of killing the people who knew where typhon’s remains are, why he opposes subaru). 2) his amnesia prevents him from making the link early on. We know he has no memories of his time on earth, atleast he cannot remember stuff from earth, since his face is also scarred and he wear the mask to hide his face, he may not remember what he looks like/ needs time to remember it.

Anyway, I think the first point is a bit flimsy since it seemed like Al was genuinely surprised when Subaru mentioned the "red string of fate", indicating that he wouldn't have recognized Subaru before he mentioned that or that Subaru was isekai'd. However, you're second point I could see being the case. I forgot that he has amnesia. It's possible I guess that he didn't immediately recognize his own face simply from forgetting it. Tho it does make me wonder why he kept this a secret from Subaru, then again, the guy keeps a lot of secrets so who knows.

What if Subaru is dreaming ( ya i know very bad theory) but it would explain why there seems to be so many instances of subarus existence and influence on the world. It could be that the dream is teaching Subaru things like growing up and becoming a better person. Also we already know that Subaru had stayed up a couple of nights before supposedly going to the minimart, we also know Subaru has character figurines that corresponds with other characters such as a silver haired elf figure. To explain how everything is the way it is probably stems from dream logic where you understand everything that is going on when you are dreaming but when you wake up you can’t really make sense of anything. I hope this isn’t the case but i am suspicious to say the least.

He’s not dreaming in any of them, HE CHOOSES to do all of this himself, from killing everyone during pride IF, getting choked by Ram, having kids with Rem, Subaru stuck with his book of the dead, dying a million times because he wants everything perfect, and staying alive for Rem and get his revenge on Betelgeuse are all because of him. In one of your previous videos, i was opposed to the idea that Al was talking to Satella because why ask two different people to kill you? This theory would explain that, but I'm not entirely convinced. one small thing is that they have different eye colours; the other and a somewhat bigger difference is that they have two different abilities. I guess that could be explained that Satella gave Al the pride witch factor, so since he has it; she couldn't give it to Subaru, but if that's the case then how did she know that the pride witch factor would have given him the ability to not die? Satella is overprotective (for good reason) so i also doubt she would leave any loophole than anyone other than herself can exploit in that ability. Since Al can be killed under certain conditions, it seems he didn't receive the same treatment. Overall i think it could be possible, but I'm still not convinced; the Satella stuff can also be explained tot he degree that Pandora made him think he was seeing her or something like that, there are a lot of different possibilities. Assuming Al is pride, he will also have to die, so there's that too. This is going to be side-tracking a bit, but i wouldn't say Satella wants to die and it's more akin to her needing too, or feeling like she has to die. I don't think she will just because of that promise and while Subaru breaks his promisers, it feels like one of those things he had Subaru say for a reason, like it's going to be important later. I hope we get answers to this in arc 7, and more Satella; because i like Satella, but mainly just some answers to the entire Al situation.

if the core of rbd is the same for subaru and al, its possible that with satella supporting subaru the scope is so big that it cover the world and the territory cannot be broken as well, while al hasnt satella support hence there are limits. also they both have checkpoints. if satella make sure no one can remeber except subaru its plausible its the same ability

The chance of Al being pride is very high and i think that's the route he will go down.

Most people don't think Al has the Pride Witch Factor anymore. Rather, it's far more likely that he has a part of the Envy Witch Factor just like Subaru. We've seen that Witch Factors can be split up between multiple people, e.g. the Gluttony siblings and Petelgeuse.

Considering the "fact" that Satella is the voice behind Styx Helix, and the song starts saying "oh please, don't let me die", I think you're right, my theory is that Satella just wants to die bc of the Envy Witch entity inside her brain, a being that could and tried to destroy the world (tho we've been told that was actually Satella). May be she just wants to stop her by killing herself but she actually just wants to live with Subaru.

@@rk-tc2fu That still makes little sense. If that's the case then where is pride? Why let both Subaru and Al have both the envy witch factor when one of them can have pride; from a story perspective it makes little sense. There's also the fact that if he was Subaru and had Envy, why would it manifest differently from the two Subaru's if he's the same person? I also mentioned that Satella is overprotective, so why would she leave a loophole in Als authority, if she gave it to him then that means she must have wanted to protect him right? Why would Satella leave the possibility of him being killed around when she didn't with Subaru. There is the possibility of there being multiple of the same witch factors, i haven't heard anything saying otherwise form Tapei, but again; why give Al and Subaru the same witch factor, from a story perspective it makes less sense than if you were to give them pride and envy (two different witch factors).

Imagine if Al is Subaru from another timeline or Subaru from the future or something I dunno I feel like that’ll take really good writing for that to make sense Edit: Either way I think we’ll find out in Arc 7 sometime soon

I would say that the chances of Al being Subaru are around 50%. There are a lot of evidences that imply Al is Subaru like the ones you already described in your vídeo. But we also have a lot of evidences that imply that Subaru isn't Al, for example: Al's Magic affinity is Earth while Subaru is shadow, Subaru was gifted with high affinity with Spirits, wich isn't the case for Alderbaran (if Al had affinity with Spirits then Beatrice would have warned Subaru since she appeared to consider Alderbaran suspect. And in one of Tappei Nagatsuki's Q&A he kind of showed to us a list of people that are talented in Magic in a rank. Roswall was 10/10, Al Was 6/10 and Subaru was 2/10. If i'm not mistaken, the number they scored would never go up or down even if they trained. Now please bear with me. If we disregard all of this and assume that Al is indeed Subaru then this means that there must be a lot of Subaru's running around the world right? where are they? If Al is Subaru then why his books of the dead didn't appear to Subaru when he used cor leonis? And shouldn't Al dissapear since the Subaru from the present is Different from The current Alderbaran? If there are more than one Subaru this means that there must be a lot of Sattelas too, so why is Satella still sealed? I only hope that the final boss of Re zero isn't another Subaru, otherwise i think i'll drop the story.

Tbf, Subaru is more like Heaven's Feel Shirou than UBW Shirou. He is mainly fighting for the people he cares about, not some ideal. So the Fate style conflict will not make sense here. However, if Subaru is a clone/reincarnation of Flugel, it does make some sense that he might not be the only clone. If Al is an imperfect clone, that could make a lot of sense

@@mvalthegamer2450 I think the fact that clones were a major plot point in Arc 4 implies that it may be relevant and used again for another character (ie Subaru) Plus, there was a line in the anime of Subaru saying his heart would burst if there was multiple Emilias, and Emilia said that she wouldn't be able to handle the thought of so many Subarus

maybe satella responded to al's feelings for her but she just confused him with the subaru that we know, since they are the same person

What if aldebaran is the archbishop of pride and was one of the people that attacked ram and rem's village as he seems to know about ram and he also has an ability which is a little bit similar to rbd(it can be an authority)

I don't think Al was behind the Oni Village attack since he was trapped on Gladiator Island during that time. I think it's more likely that Al learned of Ram's name during a failed loop of his. However, I do think that he was offered the position of Sin Archbishop of Pride but refused. I think at some point he encountered Pandora, who likely gave him the name Aldebaran and his Authority.

Judging from all the evidence given on this video, it makes more sense that Al is Flugel judging that Volcanica in Arc 6 says that he failed, most likely to end Satella, and from this one can infer that the others: Flugel, Shaula, and Reid also blame themselves. Also if possible, could you look into Subaru being a Wise Fool

i really enjoyed this video :) i think al and subaru are different person but he exist to show us how much subaru could have changed if he had screw up and loose human lives

A good point is when Al fought lust he fights like someone watching Subaru would. Maybe it's because hes a human but he is not very strong but he manages to nearly escape everytime like he knew it would happen beforehand.Maybe all the people brought by satella just have similar abilities.

Here a Q&A from the author: Of course Subaru has shadow magic affinity, but can he use magic from other affinities (at the time of arc two)? You can make best use of the magic from your affinity, and your ability with other affinities will be lower, but is it alright to say that it’s not impossible to use them? A: At the time of arc two, it would be impossible, you see. With training, he could do it. But, if it’s Subaru, even if he did learn it, he wouldn’t get further than ‘El’. I think ‘Ul’ would be reasonable once becomes able to use Shamac. He’d have to devote half his life to it, though.

If Al has any of witch factors he definitely will, considering the authorities each fuel a limb to house Subaru's soul and the 5 senses.

Look I have a new theory which brings two realities (two parallel universes) into one, it may be to far fetched but it could make sense and this could explain why there are people who look lile eachtoher or why there are theories that says "Otto = Pandora". I think there is yet an entity that needs to be revealed that has the power to unite two different timelines into one, this explains why Subaru is supposed to look like Flügel or why Emilia exactly looks like Satella. Then the other reason is that there are two Echidnas or different versions of her. I mean this "theory" of mine would explain why there are people who are looking similar to eachother.

Why am I having a feeling that were having an archer and emyia moment. It would be convenient if that were the case since they both are persistent.

My personal theory is that the reason that subaru blinked into the world when he got isekaid is because that was him losing all his memories and blinking back from the start. He could have been isekaid by truck kun, saved by satella as he was dying. Had adventures and fell in love with each other and finally for some reason was sent back in time without memories.All his failed iterations are in the world and this run is the one that will succeed.

In wrath side story where barusu became criminal lord he became colorblind because of the trust issues, the only people he saw color in were ram and emilia until he started to doubt emilia.

Also on the wiki it says that al hates knight’s, and denies being a knight. I can see Subaru hating knights after Julius beat him up, a bit a stretch but maybe, we know satella can stop time, so who’s to stay she can’t see coward in time?

I’m only at the tail end of arc 5, but ever since the weird scene in arc 4 where Subaru felt like he recalled something in regards to him and the witch of envy from long ago, my brains been thinking about some sort of reincarnation story. Like what if long ago in the origins of the witch of envy or something she fell madly in love with a man and gave him the ability to reincarnate or some such so that they would never be apart for too long and now Subaru is the latest incarnation of her lover. I don’t know, kinda out there but I’m not getting over that scene anytime soon. Like what if every person who was ever sent to this place from earth is a incarnation of Subaru. Don’t know how to explain Al and Subaru being alive at the same time, but maybe there’s something there. At that point I could go even further and more crazy and say that all of the witch cultists are somehow a part of Subaru. All of those who bare the name of stars are a price of a whole and Subaru is just one of them. That’s why their all so frenetical, any isolated feeling brought to its extremes can seem fanatical. That’s the whole point of the witch’s and the witch cultists. To exemplify different aspects of the emotions associated with the 7 deadly sins. What if it’s more that just a neat concept, what if it’s integral to the story that all of them seem to represent something isolated. I don’t know, just a fun thought.

I've been thinking this for a while, but the latest chapters really sealed it for me.

Subaru=Al=flugle=volchanica (fuck) hmmm .. I say that because in arc 6 when Emilia encountered the dragon, he called him satella and when he saw paterash, he called his name in surprise. Tho this doesn't sound like much of a proof of a solid foundation to my guess.

I guess if they’re both the same Person from different timelines. It would explain why he had a which factor, as well as why they share the same ability

My theory after only watching the first season of the anime was that the story would end with a different, stronger time leap where Subaru goes back to a time around episode 1, puts on that helmet and hides his identity so he doesn't interfere with the other version of himself. Then he'd go about recruiting to Emilia's side the one person (Priscilla) strong enough to help him protect Emilia from both the witch (who is trying to make Emilia king and then possess her, thereby escaping her seal and gaining power over the dragon), and the dragon and Reinhard (who are trying to stop the witch by killing Emilia). Obviously at this point that theory was waaaaay off the mark and vastly underestimated the complexity of this story, but I still like to think Al could be Subaru.

I love re zero because of it's mysterious plot, if this theory is true then the story won't be exciting anymore. As a fan I am hoping for a plot that can never be predicted by anyone, this will give more thrill to the viewers and readers.

No. Trying to constantly shock the audience with a twist and making your story completely unpredictable is how you end up with a garbage story. You should be wanting quality, not twists for the sake of twists. An author following your mindset always ends horribly. Then, by the end you'll regret it and be complaining about how the story was ruined. Besides, an essential part of rezero is that Tappei already planned the story out so he puts a lot of foreshadowing throughout the story. Fans actually being able to figure out a lot of plot points is part of what makes rezero special.

if you think about it the timeline might fit our main hero and heroine are in the late teen early 20s and al is around 40 meaning he could have been summoned 20 years ago, the same age as our Subaru, failed and another was grabbed when the new Subaru was of age with possible implications being on Emilia like she also would have been reset. Basically trial and error. Kinda murky tho but just thought I would point it out. Edit: also their outfits for the IF Subaru is uncanny. They even accumulate the same damn injuries for crying out loud which is weird and improbable

looking back what if subaru's dad is flugel since he named the tower after him and that his adventures eventually was made for subaru and that satella fell inlove with subaru's dad but failed to save her

there are a few things that bother me with this theory though. for example, I think Al should've had a much stronger reaction when first meeting Subaru, if they were indeed the same person. Or would this be explained away by Al's dissociation, making him even "forget" or subconsciously ignore the fact that he's meeting his past self? Also, from Al's fight with Capella in Arc 5, we know he can use Earth magic, but Subaru has an affinity for Shadow magic. The only explanation I could have for this is that either 1: Al *does* have an affinity for Shadow magic but instead chose to train only with Earth magic, in order to separate himself from Subaru (though I don't know how strict the Elemental affinities are, and Al's magic was pretty strong iirc). Or 2: They were isekai'd into the world with different affinities. That would make more sense as they probably didn't have a gate in Earth, so Od Lagna probably "converted" them to its Gate-Od system upon summoning and gave them affinities.
